  1. High school football is like life .. Not very predictable sometime ... Who would have thought father Ryan could beat BA this year ... No need for anyone to eat crow.. I think anyone who has watched either team esp the people in chatt would have picked mccallie to win this year .. Congrats to Baylor

LIghten up.....just said it because of the zero percent chance for Baylor. On another note not sure if anyone will stop Ensworth this year. I really thought MBA had a chance. Oh well Congratulations to Baylor.

  2. I think gofans was saying that Potter was giving a strange backhanded compliment of McCallie's values in the paper unfortunately at the expense of demeaning the values of what he experienced at BA. He alluded to it as an opportunity to get closer to his personal mission.

Not sure that is what gofans meant- but that is how I took it.

I think gofans was taking a dig at McCallie. After reading Potter's comments he was really taking digs at BA. Uncalled for.

  3. I am a fan of Baylor. I have been reading this thread and have watched it slowing deteriorate. I can imagine you being irritated by what the McCallie fan said....but it was just one person. Now, you have done the same thing defending BA. We all love our schools and want to defend them when we feel they are attacked. I get that. But do it without trying to bring down the other one down.

You can't judge a school by what one or two people say. If so, we would all be in trouble.

What I do know is that BA, McCallie, Baylor, Ensworth and all of the other D2 schools are all fine schools. All have great values, tremendous educational opportunities, teach honor, community service and on and on.

We all are proud of our respective schools. We should be. But we should also be respectful of all. Only maybe one from each school has not done that. Let's not judge a school but one person.

Well said jon26. Your posts are always classy. Like you said it just takes one to get something going. Some people think that one person posting is representative of the entire school....don't get it at all.

  4. He sure did and instead of just graciously stating he was leaving, he had to "lecture" everyone about the negativity he has endured and that he "will not put up with that!" It's an evening to honor student athletes and you would think that someone in his position would recognize the importance of keeping that as the focus, but no, once again, potter has to exercise his enormous ego and sure everyone knows he is upset and it's everyone else's fault. It was really classless and he lost a lot of respect from even his supporters. Many, many of the kids were appalled at the comments. His ego has been one of the big issues all along. I'm still shaking my head at how he handled it tonite.

If it happened that way....what a classless thing to do. The few times I have seen him and heard him...he had an air about him. Sorry, I don't usually like to judge people but that was just the feeling I got. After reading alot of posts from BA fans...they were more than ready for him to leave. He obviously knew that. The way he just up and left McCallie...I am surprised they would be happy to have him back.

  5. Well I don't have a dog in the hunt as my name suggests. But I think that Baylor vs Ensworth should be a dogfight. Baylor lost in a heartbreaker last year....didn't Ensworth score with just seconds left to win the championship? Pretty sure that is right. Baylor just crushed Ensworth this year 42-14. But that was probably a perfect storm with Baylor playing amazing and Ensworth not so much. I would expect this game to be very close. I thought I would start the topic. What do you think? Predictions, opinions?

  6. I will be pulling for Baylor the rest of the way, although I believe MBA the better team on Friday night. Two keys to the loss were the LBs not being able to contain #11 at the end of the half which resulted in a TD. If MBA comes up with a D stop, they have Mo on their side to start the second half. The lack of offense in the second half was the second key. The offensive adjustments at half, if any, were ineffective. No way was MBA going to win if having the QB run the ball was integral to the offensive scheme. The QB sacks and his interception in Q4 after the D held sealed the deal the other way. I would have liked to see the other QB ,who can throw, brought into the game at some point. Oh well, you pay for what you get.

Come on man. Even as another MBA guy....how in the world you can post that MBA was the best team is crazy. Give credit where credit is due. Baylor was clearly the best team on the field hands down. We have next season to look forward to....but let's get real man.

  7. Congratulations to an excellent Baylor team. You guys whipped us and without a few costly turnovers....the score would have been worse. I am proud of the way MBA played late in the season and hope we grow from this. Thanks to the Baylor fans for being so hospitable. Baylor is a class act and I will be pulling for you guys to win it all.

  8. Thank you piratetom....and good luck to South Pittsburg tomorrow night! Looking forward to tailgating and to hopefully a great game tomorrow night. We've got the red and gray blankets out and will be sipping hot chocolate for what will be a very cold game. Travel safely MBA fans. As always I will be cheering on the Red Raiders! Go Baylor!

Thanks bruisermom. Looking forward to the trip to Chattanooga....just hope it not a long trip back.

  9. That is the link for MUS home games during the regular season. I think they have to have permission from the TSSAA to stream a playoff game. I didn't see the game listed on the TSSAA site, only the Baylor-MBA and CBHS-BA games. For you and other McCallie fans, hope it gets shown.

Owlbooster are you sure MBA/Baylor is being streamed. Maybe I missed it but I did not see that. I will be in Chattanooga for the game but know alot of fans would like to know. Thanks.

  10. I think redraider should have prefaced it by saying McCallie, MBA, MUS and any other all male school. Don't think he would have shot off so quickly except for the "11" comment and the hope MBA beats Baylor on a thread that has nothing to do with McCallie. Just my take.

As for things that have to do with Baylor and MBA...I am very excited about this game. MBA is playing good ball and is on a roll for sure. Baylor has had an extremely good season no doubt.

I look for nothing more than a hard fought battle. Playoffs are a new season and as we all know anything can happen. Baylor will be the favorite in this game and should win. But MBA is always a very tough game....and the way they are playing now Baylor will have to play a very good game.

With that being said...I will go with my heart and head on this game. I predict a close game....Baylor 31 MBA 24. Go Red Raiders!

Thanks bigred4 life for trying to get the topic back to MBA and Baylor. Not sure why McCallie is trying to bring stuff up in this thread. Anyway, yes MBA is playing good ball now. But playing Baylor will be a big task. They are strong and very athletic. It would take MBA's best effort and some help from Baylor...but it can be done. I would have to go against my heart in a prediction here...but hope that I am wrong.

Baylor 28 MBA 21. GO Big Red!

  11. If it is like it is doing the regular season then MBA doesn't stand a chance. I have never seen such bad officials during last year's game and they said same was true this year for the Ensworth game.

Not sure if I am understanding or not...because are you saying the ref's have had it out for MBA?

  12. MBA travels to Baylor this Friday to take on the Red Raiders. MBA has won 5 of our last 6 games and are playing good football now. Baylor is just a tremendous team in all aspects. I will be there rooting on MBA. I always enjoy my visit to Baylor's beautiful campus. Thoughts and opinions on the game?

  13. Sure is neat to see all the DII AA teams make the playoffs.... Got to think the excitement on the practice field ate JPII this week will be just CRAZY. Probably better for a few of these teams to close up the locker room and fore go the post season. As a coach you just hope there are no career ending injuries that might effect next year.

I predict the final game will be Ensworth vs Baylor. With Ensworth taking home the gold ball.

BA will make it to semi-final against Baylor and lose in a close game.

Ensworth and Baylor would have to be the favorites to reach the finals....but if that happens I would disagree with worth taking home the gold ball. Baylor beat Ensworth....41-14 this year. I think Baylor would win again. Remember it took Ensworth virtually the last play of the game last to to escape and beat Baylor for the championship. If it happens again...I would take Baylor.

  14. No, I'm not trying to pick a fight, I'm not trying to make it a respect/disrespect issue, and my panties are not wadding up, etcetcetc. I am truly curious to see how and why midstaters "pick" this game between a W #1 MUS and a M/E #4 BGA, who does have a quality win over Smyrna. Historically midstaters usually go with the local team "just because the Midstate teams are better," which is almost always true. Nonetheless, MUS does have 4 gold balls in the last 7 years. So Ensworth takes MUS "to the woodshed," if the Owls get that far. It's possible. But the Baylor game shows they can be beaten. At least you think the Owls can squeak by BGA.

You are right....Enworth was beaten soundly by Baylor.....41-14. The playoffs will be exciting and I can't wait. Go MBA!

  15. Congrats to the Red. Extremely proud of the blue for fighting back.

Must do something about the traffic. Horrendous. Also one should never start a football game without all safety personnel present. Ambulance didn't arrive until the first quarter was almost over. Have we not seen enough need for such this season?

Traffic is a pain for sure. But, I think traffic is a good sign....look at the bright side bluemom. Most high school programs would kill to have a sold out stadium where you had to fight traffic to get to the game. Also, I would think traffic jams would be expected at a hyped game like this. Again, I see it as a good problem. Congratulations to Baylor on being undefeated at this point.
