Has anyone seen a schedule for this event? Thanks!
-
Heard the schools in D2-AAA have elected not to make up any games postponed by COVID. Looks like that decision has already affected the standings as Morristown West was supposed to face South Doyle and Seymour this week on the girls' side. It was reported both SD and Seymour had COVID issues, forcing postponements. So, MoWest sits at 2-0 in the IMAC and has played just one non-district game since their season started on Nov. 17.
What a year...

Morristown West has won 30+ games four years in a row and will appear in their fourth straight Class AAA state tournament. I'm sure this has happened before...could anyone tell me how many different programs have accomplished this feat and perhaps the years they did so?
I know the Greeneville Lady Devils did so from 2004-2007 while winning 124 games when they were still in Class AAA.
Just curious about it and thought I'd do a little polling research.

Morristown East at Morristown West postponed to Jan. 9, 2017
Cocke County at Jefferson County postponed to Jan. 9, 2017
South-Doyle at Seymour postponed to Jan. 31, 2017
Sevier County at Cherokee postponed (makeup date TBD)

Region 1 will have some quality Hall of Fame games on Thursday night. Morristown West travels to Dobyns-Bennett in a rematch of last year's R1-AAA title bout. And Morristown East - under new head coach Michael Potts - will tangle with Daniel Boone in Gray.
-
According to Austin Price, Bearden has hired Jeremy Parrott as its new boys basketball coach. Parrott was long-time coach at Cherokee High School. Led the Chiefs to the state tournament a few years ago.
-
Jefferson County football coach Kenny Cobble has resigned to take a position on George Quarles' coaching staff at Maryville. Patriots looking another head coach.
-
Morristown West will be in the mix again next year. Only lost two seniors off their squad that finished 31-4 this year.

The post you just referenced is from last season, jcpat.
Jeff Co and MoWest split the IMAC regular season title this season. Jeff Co gets the No. 1 seed in the district tournament thanks to their sweep of West, but the teams split the regular season title by rule because both finished 12-2 in district play.

Morristown West has soundly defeated both Powell and Tennessee High. Not sure if Powell is as good as they used to be, but the win at Viking Hall was pretty impressive. Have Boone and Science Hill on the schedule, so a chance to prove they are one of the teams to beat in Region 1.
-
Congrats to the Lady Trojans on the win and to Science Hill on a great season. It is a shame that the scenarios played out the way they did...this matchup deserved to be for the region. But, I guess that's the way basketball goes.
-
Morristown East made a nice run, but ran out of steam in the semis against Jefferson County. Morristown West survived Seymour to advance to championship. Lady Pats and Lady Trojans will meet in the district championship, in Dumplin Valley on Monday night.
-
Tonight, Morristown West will retire the jersey number of former Lady Trojan Taylor Hall. Hall led West High to unprecedented heights her junior and senior year. After transferring from Claiborne, she led the Lady Trojans to 64 wins over two seasons, scored over 1,000 points, won numerous district and region honors, was the 2010 Miss Basketball recipient (a first for the school), and led her squad to the 2010 State Championship game.
Since graduating West, she has starred at University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She surpassed 1,000 career points with the Lady Mocs earlier this week, and currently leads her team in numerous statistical categories. UTC is undefeated in SoCon play and 19-3 overall.
This is a well deserved honor for an outstanding young lady. Congratulations to Taylor!
-
Congrats to the Morristown West Lady Trojans for earning the IMAC championship with a win over Jefferson County! It is the seventh under head coach Johnny Galyon. Also, congrats to senior Jecca Simerly for eclipsing 1,000 points last night!

The sports reporter for The Advocate in Monroe County drove out the school only to find out the games were moved to January 30th. No details so far on the reason for the change.

Purely a question and hope you do well with the Tournament, Belmont University was asked to not have a Tournament at the School due to NCAA Violations on the site. Thanks to landair for sponsering this tournament at NAIA University in Bristol, Tennessee, Lee University. This Tournament was sponsered by Green Bank in Greenville, Tennessee. Untils they were not able to do it this year. I'm not sure anyone knew the Tournament was at King College. Many mught think that this is nobody's business and rightly so. Just would hate to see some players lose a year of eligelibility because of playing in a NAIA event if indeed they have the same rules as NCAA.. This was in from the first year for this event and i quess the event was moved from Greenville to Bristol. I'm not sure who is sponsering the event and who gets the proceeds. A facebook advertisment is on this thread but cannot be read very easily. Hope that someone has asked the school and also some school is able to get the proceeds of the tournament.
Um... o_0
The tournament is, has been, and always will be in Greeneville at Hal Henard Gym. It is a Greene County event, not a Bristol one. The only thing changing is the sponsor name from Green Bank to Greeneville-based LandAir.

Yeah, I have noticed several Thanksgiving tournaments going to this format. I think it somehow counts differently towards the amount of games teams can schedule if it's not in an actual bracket format? I could be completely wrong. Appreciate the info!
