  1. I say Polk Co + Home Field + Refs = Big Win
  2. Central was the better team in the first half but ND was the better team in the 2nd half. ND made adjustments at halftime while it looked like Central was flat and didnt have a counter to ND adjustments (here's where it comes down to coaching IMO). Also the fake punt was not a very good decision. Central only needed a few yds and everybody knew they were not going to punt and lack of excecution cost Central a penalty. These 2 teams were evenly matched and Central should have had the advantage being the home team. Oh well thats my 2 cents.
  3. O now lets not get our panties all knotted up. I just think that Goodin came in with the wrong mindset and was blessed with talent at first. I've already explained what I think will breed success. You insist on looking at the silver lining, while I see reality. And "so called playmaker" come over and we will watch my highlight tape sometime.
  4. He's watched em play lol. My two cents is CHS 7 ND 21. Hope to see improvement by the chargers.
  5. He's watched em play lol. My two cents is CHS 7 ND 21. Hope to see improvement by the chargers.
  6. I dont know, maybe stuff such as community service? Now I'm for community service but dont make the kids go and find it on their own. Do it with the team. MAKING them take showers after practice? Cant wear anything like sweat bands? He made them sign a contract like four pages of stuff they couldnt do and stuff they was forced to do. (these were four specific reasons given to me by a player who quit) He got mad at a player his first year for getting his ankles taped and that made his shoe look white because of the tape(instead of the black shoe everyone else had). You are right that its usually the coaches way or the highway, I will agree. But I think he needs to place his concern with 1. are the kids doing well in class(which he does) 2. figuring out how to beat the next team (to be debated lol), 3. why are the kids not playing that quit or didnt come out, 4. making sure the little league is having success(which I hear they are starting to place interest in), 5. recruiting (never hurt anyone). Let the other petty things go, and get the kids out there. Make them want to play. Its awesome the little league did good but its same thing every year, you got to keep them from only playing basketball and baseball.
  7. By now this is common knowledge but there is a better team walking around the school than whats on the field for Central. So Goodin needs to realize that he needs these kids in order to win games. He needs to quit worrying about such little things that dont matter, it drives the kids away from wanting to play. Its his way or the highway. And his highway is leading to 0 and 10 (again). So swallow some pride and make it half way fun. (hint hint: winning is fun)
  8. i think Coach D was blessed with tallent but he also "recruited" talent from the middle schools. I know for a fact that he went into Mt View and looked and talked with the 8th graders to get a read on the interest level of the kids. There were at least a couple of key atheletes that wouldnt have played if he didnt do that. The kids wanted to play for coach D also. I am not saying that they dont want to play for coach Goodin but I know the "athletes" from his first team always felt like he was trying to get them for something or suspend them a qtr or half a game for stuff like not wearing the right shoes.
  9. I agreed with everything til playoff spot. If Goodin can get to the playoff from 0 wins last year he deserves coach of the year in my book!
  10. I agree, seem to be better than last year. Offense tried to spread ball around and not run up middle everytime. Team played with passion, hope they can keep it up. Losing will take its toll on everybody. I see them scratching out 2-3 wins this year with some luck.
  11. I thought the Barnett kid was qb last year when calvin got hurt. It must have been Levi then.
  12. what happened to the kid that was qb last year?
  13. great point on the Englewood issue! The Seq conference has great teams in it but sometimes all the rules on weight and who can play where hurt the game. At least in Englewood its smash mouth football not Oh Jonnys 2LBS over weight-He cant play linebacker. I mean really, who is going to play in HS? The big kids or the little kids?
  14. Central will play hard but will be out manned.
  15. How was the blocking on the O-Line?
  16. It will be interesting to see how Polk does this year in contrast to how Central did when they lost their Seniors a year ago. I bet Polk keeps on winning.
  17. I agree the talent is down a little but that is where the coach needs to look at his needs going into each season and how he is going to offset them. Good coaches can win with less talent. Nobody is saying win the district but at least win a few games. What I saw last year was pityful.
  18. My best guess is 0-10 Same coaches, same talent, same results
  19. easy with that statement there lol I am one as well and I do agree that the pride and passion thing gets over used at polk(I thought his comment was unnecessary) I also have alot of respect for polk. Having played CAK I respect them too. I cant remember if last year we matched up well with CAK or what but we did alot better than I thought we would. anyways I am looking forward to see how polk handles the big plays from CAK. (something i dont think they saw this year)
  20. As a Mcminn Central fan I gotta say go p...pol...well good luck anyways . I think Polk will surprise CAK will their style of play. I know CAK feels prepared to take on the world since they play Alcoa. But polk is better than some of ya'll are thinking. I also find Alcoa's support for CAK funny just cause they know they will beat CAK. Same song different verse. Not saying that Alcoa is scared of Polk but why would they want to play polk? They know CAK wont beat them. Now back to the game I think which ever team can win the turn over battle will win the game(crazy thought, huh). Polk Co. 28 CAK 24
  21. this is a hard one to call, tyner has the tallent but so have alot of other teams that polk has beat. if things go south for tyner it could get ugly. if its a close game i say tyner wins.
