  1. I've been around Sumner County all of my life. I've watched powerhouse programs with legendary players rise and fall. There are many exceptions here, but in my perspective just in the past 10 years, it seems like in our neck of the woods, many of our football programs have not had the numbers or depth coaching staffs had become accustomed to and have had to develop new and creative ways to work, coach and mentor. (Gallatin and White House - you are exceptions with the numbers). I'm not counting jerk coaches or rules violations here - staffs which have struggled to keep coaches on the sideline who are not tenured don't know from year to year who's gonna be staying or leaving. If you're lucky enough to be able to keep a team of coaches together for any length of time, you're going to develop a quality program and quality players. When you've got a kid who loves the game and playing it all of his life and all through high school working his butt off to get better and fight for a position, when a coach leaves and new ones come on board, you can't tell me it doesn't affect a player - they're the ones on the field executing the plays they may have known like the back of their hand, or just got introduced to a new system this week and a new system next week. If memory serves me right, I think the football players who graduated from Beech last year had experienced 3 head coaching changes since the beginning of their freshman year. Coach Hatfield and company do a great job and have for many years. Do I feel like coaches call the wrong plays? Absolutely. I haven't lost a game sitting in the stands since I've been watching football. Would I devote my time day in and day out coaching? Absolutely not. Don't have what it takes to do it. Hats off to Coach Hatfield. An old-school coach told me years ago - when you're winning, you're the best coach ever; when you're losing, you're scum of the earth. It's amazing what 10 games a year can do for your career. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />

    Well Said!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. No I'm pretty sure Brentwood Academy (10 state championships), Montgomery Bell Academy (8 state championships), Battle Ground Academy (6 state championships), Riverdale (4 state championships and almost all coming in the last decade), and probably more have greater football tradition in middle Tennessee than the Gallatin Green Wave who have 3 state championships. This is not taking anything away from them but these other schools have better and more prestigious football tradition in middle tennessee.

You cant compare private schools and public schools, that like apples and oranges. But Riverdale has had a lot of success. Although with all their success The Boro has Oakland also who has been successful. But the only towns in Tennessee that carry an equal football tradition to Gallatin would be the likes of Oak Ridge, Alcoa, Maryville and Trousdale Co, now these 5 are all true football towns!

  3. I know you will, Good luck tomorrow night and have a great senior night

I'll be there cheering you guys on...

    GO WAVE

Last weeks game with Hville was a well coached and well played game as a team all the way across the board! I hope to see that again tonight, so lets go Wave! Win tonight and then let the chips fall where thay may. If Hville goes down and we win then we can upset some teams in the playoffs.

  4. I don't think Gallatin is that much weaker without Butler, it was the other QB that did most of the damage to Hville.

You are exactly right! He should have started all year long and used Boo Butler as a Reggie Bush type threat at receiver and out of the backfield!

  5. Nextbest09, DeckerDominato..., barnburner and the rest of the trashtalkers now will be heard no more.

    BYE BYE

Gallatin played their best game of the year tonight. Key--they tackled very consistantly. Great job tonight!! Cody Matthews and Boo did a great job at QB. The offensive line blocked better than they have since the Glencliff game. Will Pate had an excellent game with a couple of huge catches. Great job by Sweat and Gleaves really getting after the Qb. #44 really put the hit on a couple of their runningbacks as well. Overall I thought we were very focused and played a great game especially on the defensive side of the ball. The whole atmosphere was a ton better than the past two weeks. I also thought that the play calling was very good. We finally threw down the field a couple of times and really made Hendersonville respect the long ball. Which opened up the running game. Woods didn't connect on any passes but he sure was open several times...good game. And Satterfield did a very good job getting the ball away and really put the Commandos in a hole. If we play like that next week we have a very good shot at beating McGavock who got a huge win tonight.

Up by 35pts in the third.....please.

Your statement is on the money, well put. Gallatin fans are proud of their team for tonights great performance. Lets hope H'ville plays that way next week against Hunters Lane, and G'ville can beat McGavock, we might be playoff bound. P.S. The little Vandy imitators have lost to the Green Wave again, Imagine that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So how do you like your CROW??? Cause you be gonna eatin it fo another year!!

  6. Hendersonville came back and made it 13-20 but between the punt/kick return man and the punter for the Commandos it was a miracle the Commandos were in the game. Gallatin avg the ball on the 45 where as HHS avg the ball on the 15.

Gallatin made some big plays but HHS truly shot temselves in the foot. After the second dropped kick off they should have kept Roper back there.

BTW-why do the Gallatin Fans sit on the vistor side? There was plenty of empty seats on the Gallatin side!

Its the all concrete bleachers, no one or anything can fall through them. THE home side is metal bleachers that are open underneath. Thats the only reason, in my opinion.

  7. Interesting that other teams are publicly calling out Gallatin's defense as "slow"-see Tennessean.

As I had said a couple of weeks ago, this Green Wave team just has too many holes all over the field. The defense gives up another 20+ points and apparently can not stop the pass anymore than tissue paper can stop a semi-truck. Seeing as how the pass defense is what cost them their perfect season last year it might be a good idea to hire a defensive coordinator that understands pass coverage. Whether the "traditionalists" at Gallatin like it or not, everyone else has learned to throw the football, and does so 15-20 times a game. So you better learn how to defend it.

    WHERE IS COACH WALLS?????

    TOTALLY AGREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. How can you say that it sounds to you that i am already giving up on the season by saying that some people that walk through our gate is picking against us or doubting us this season. That sounds nowhere near close to giving up. No i havent im just tired of some people saying that we are going to have a down year. And we are getting our heads together and starting to play hardnose football. Dont you think that all that stuff has gone through are heads. But we will think about all that when the time comes but i havent given up. Thats letting down my teammates and i dont do that.

    [/quoe]

Thats good to hear! I will be there tonight rooting you on! We believe you can win, so drown the bulldogs, dog!!!!!

  9. First of all how can you say that everyone that walks through that gate support us 100%. Who do you pick to win this game? And why are people saing they are gallatin fans if they pick smyrna to win. They should pick us to win no matter how good the opposing team is. The so called supports say that our season is down they drain or whatever they say about us, they can either turn their tickets in or shutup and watch the game without having a negative attitude about every little thing that might go wrong.

If you are a player on this team, it sounds like to me you are already giving up on the season. Goal #1 = Win Region you guys are 2-0 in region play. You could easily win region, beat Hunters Lane and Hendersonville and its pretty much a done deal! Goal #2 = Make Playoffs you do this in your region play. So, Lebanon and Mt. Juliet losses matter none whatsoever. Get your heads together and play hardnosed Green Wave football, thats all you have to do!!!!!!!!

  10. poor ole gallatin is gonna come out hard... me being a long time supporter of the green wave, i think that no one needs to dictate the score of two teams that will obviously prepare greatly for each other. Gallatin put down glencliff. is it because glencliff was not a good opponent? Or was it because the green wave finally found team unity. If the wave wins, it is because the other team was sorry. If they lose, then that is because the wave is sorry. I sre hope both teams come out hard. because both teams are gonna need it. Maybe if the wave wins most of the fair weather ghs fans will shut up and start supporting the boys in uniform

I'm 100% sure every wave fan who walks through the entrance to the pit supports every boy in uniform on that field!!! You never know what may happen in High School Football, The opposing team plays with 11 kids on each side of the ball just as we do! GO BIG G, we support you 100% WIN or LOSE. P.S. You can't win state every year!!!
