  1. Hunters Lane is very good up front on both sides. I hope Brentwood can stop the run because they will see a lot of it. Hunters Lane is not very good at passing, so if Brentwood can hold them to passing, they have a good chance. Of course then you have to move the ball on one of the best defenses in the state.

  2. If your are better Football players than these NFL folks below than listen to your coach and don't wrestle!!!!

Or ask the Bartholomew brothers of MBA, both wrestle and both UT Football players.

"I would have all of my Offensive Lineman wrestle if I could."

    - John Madden, Hall of Fame Football Coach

"It??™s the attitude. (Wrestling) helps you with your hips, your hands and your balance, but more than anything it helps you with your attitude," he said. "A lot of these kids that are basketball players, we eat those kids up. It??™s just our mentality - you??™re going to get the job done and you??™re going to punish them."

Roth said his dream partner on the wrestling mat would be Ravens LB Ray Lewis, himself an accomplished high school wrestler."

I don't think you have to wrestle to be a good football player, there are a lot of kids that do both and it seems to help them none.

  3. Indy has a good one in Jeff Veres. They haven't attempted many field goals (2-3 if memory serves). Missed 1-2 PAT with another 1-2. Most of his kickoffs go in the endzone.

It should be a good kicker duel then. It doesn't seem like there will be many (if any) kickoff returns. I personally don't think that this game will come down to the kickers though, whoever wins will win it by 10-17.

  4. How is Gallatins Sp. Team play?? This comes from someone who has never seen gallatin's Sp. Team but IHS gets touchback after touchback on kickoffs with a very good place kicker. Just wondering if your talking more on field goals or the kick off/return game??

Gallatin has got one of the best kickers around, the rest of the special team units aren't quite as amazing though.

  5. OK i know he has been given chances i understand all that BUT he is still a 20-22 year old kid if you take football away totally he may never straighten up so i am in favor of someone letting him on the team and tell him this is your last shot u put him in a different enviroment with somthing already being taken away that maybe it will wake him up and realize this is it and he goes on to be a great person in the community

Surely he was already told by Coach Fulmer that this was his final shot, don't you think?

  6. This is a very disappointing end to his Tennessee career and a complete waste of talent. I watched Coker play at Antioch a couple of years back and I think he was one of, if not the, best high school players I had ever seen play. To see him waste this phenomenal talent is absolutely disgusting. Hopefully he will clean himself up and play somewhere else down the road, although I'm not so sure he deserves to.

  7. Overton shocks the Rebels and wins this game. Franklin is going to find out the hard way about Daniel White, he is one of the best running backs around. He breaks so many tacles and once you key on him, they pitch it out to that other back, Jackson. The biggest question mark to me though is can Overton's D step up?

    Overton- 31 Franklin- 24

  8. I truly hope that Brentwood wins this one. After the Hville game vs HL, I have zero, and I mean ZERO, respect for the HL program. Before the game they come out and hang on Hville's goalpost (Hville coaches had to come out later and fix it) and talk trash (you could hear it from the stands), all the while their coaches are encouraging it. Later they came out and jumped on the H in the middle of the field. I had some sympathy for the HL players and what they had to go through, but after that performance I don't think they deserve to play football. Unfortunately, they are a pretty dang good football team and they should win the game.

  9. I have been attending H'ville games for over 20 years so I think can speak to this year. Up front we do not have the size and strength of past teams. Like most years we do not have the speed of our opponents. Defensively we have not been good all year. Even in our wins we have given up a lot of points and yards. Offensively when the year started we had 2 running backs (Roper and Gregory) that I had confidence in. Problem is that they play the same position. C.J. has really came on and so have Dathan and Spencer A so I think our offense can score. We cannot show any Friday night, play mediocre and have a chance to win. I thought when the season started that if we made the playoffs it would be quite an achievement. We do not have top 6 in the region talent much less top 2 or 3. I do not always agree with Coach Hatfield on who he plays but what I do know is that he has taken us to the finals twice with overachieving teams. If you will look at the last 20 years H'ville has not produced very many D1 players and you can't name more that 3 or 4 from the two times we went to the finals that went D1. If the guy can't coach then how did we go to the finals twice and at one time beat the Green Wave 7 straight times. This year Station Camp is undefeated last time I checked, Dickson County is pretty good, Antioch is pretty good, Beech is probably going to make the playoffs. While I am disappointed when we lose I still think if we are fortunate enough to get in the playoffs I think we can make some noise. Remember last year we were at least a 2 touchdown underdog on the road at Franklin and won.

Very true, I was only upset because everyone acts like it is the coaches fault, bottom line is its not. The players are the ones who have to go out and run what's called with whoever is in. And by the way, the only D1 player I can remeber from those teams was James Wilhoit.

  10. You can't keep a student at home who is physically and mentally able to attend school. It is against the law.

If he is unable to attend because of medical reasons then he must go homebound which means he is technically still in school so that doesn't work, either.

I can't imagine many cases where a kid physically can't go homebound yet would be well enough to play sports six months later.

Perhaps the case at Hunters Lane is the exception to all of the above but I don't think there will be many exceptions.

If it's against the law, just get the kid to punch out a teacher, that should work.
