  1. I never said it was ok to hit the kid. I said you or nobody else knows for sure what they would do if a kid gets in your face and is yelling and cussing you. In the heat of battle anything can happen. I was not there ,niether were you, so I don't know the details. We don't even know what the hit was,so we can't judge based on the term hitting. You still have no clue as to the everyday dealings with metro kids.

What do you mean by the everyday dealings with Metro kids then?

  2. People not in metro have no idea what a coach has to deal with. It is easy to say how you would react to a kid yelling at you. Maybe it could have been prevented, but until you have been in a coaching job in metro can you really know what you or anyone would do. Metro is not the same as it once was. SSDD 5 down - 5 across.

The more you make this excuse for them and act like Metro is so different, the longer it will be different. You think hitting a kid in Metro is the only way to get to them? Then it is the adults who have failed Metro, not the kids. Maybe if you tried actually talking to them now and again, this wouldn't be the only way to get to them. But yeah, I do know exactly what the coaches are going through. I played these Metro teams for 3 years, and I had to put up with the constant and blantant disrespect. Here's the difference though: I didn't run around crying about how unfair they were and taking cheap shots back on them because I was taught better by my coaches. Maybe that's what Metro needs?

  3. Wow! oh wow thank god! good job commandoes! we needed that /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

It's spelled "Commandos" buddy. I don't know why you're so excited about this though, if we beat Gallatin, just think what we're going to do to you. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

  4. Yazzie is a GOOD player and Hendersonville has serveral. This is a group of guys seem to play with one goal in mind every week. Bring hard all night and do your job.

I have seen the ATTITUDE of this team change over the past few games, as they play with a different swagger. Not cocky, not over confident, just with a purpose.

When you try to stop Yazzie, as Gallatin did on the last drive - Zach Hill stepped up and made a play. It has happened that way with Murrell, Hight, Armstong and others. Not to mention an O Line and Dline that has controlled games and made plays happen.

The coaches seem to have taken different approach with this team. My hats off to the whole team.

Amen to that. You said it, when Gallatin avoided passing towards Yazzie all game, Hill stepped up and made a HUGE play. I actually think Hill may be leading the county in interceptions, Yazzie gets the most talk but he's one of many good players on this team. I'd also like to throw Harris #9 in there, he had a huge game for the Commandos on the ground against Gallatin last week as he has all year.

  5. If the only way that a coach can earn the respect of his players is by physical force and intimidation, he doesn't sound like a very good coach to me. When I played, the main lesson we got out of football was to be respected young men. Who do you think these kids are going to model themselves after? My guess would have to be the adults that they spend the most time around, that's their parents and their football coaches. Maybe I'm on a different page then some of you old timers, but I'm pretty sure a truly respectable man doesn't go around hitting teenagers who smart off. Get some control of your emotions man, you're supposed to be the leader of the team for crying out loud. I believe that players copy the actions of coaches, I really do. But that's not a very good thing when your coach can't control himself!

  6. Alright, final week of the season and it all comes down to this game. If Hendersonville win, they are region champs, regardless of the outcome of the Gallatin game. If they lose, they can pretty much be assured of 3rd place and no home playoff game. With that being said, I would have to think that Hendersonville will win this one. Hunter's Lane couldn't handle the surging Gallatin attack when they played, and Hendersonville found a way to. I think that will be the defining scene for this Hendersonville team this season, it was huge and showed that they can just find a way to win.

Certainly Hunter's Lane can't be overlooked, you don't get that many wins by being some pushover team, they bring it to Hville every year, and I know these Commandos are looking for redemption against the Warriors. Hville proved once again that even if you play a stout D, as they did in Gallatin and now will vs HL, they can find other ways to score. With the Hill interception return for a TD and the Yazzie punt return for a TD that was called back, Hville has proved they have a TON of ways to get the ball into the endzone.

    My prediction:

    HHS- 24

    HLHS- 14

  7. Oh, I just thought that you were saying Hville did something disrespectful or something.

If Gallatin plays for a full game, they are one of the best teams in the state I believe, man that running game got going, and the passes were wide open in the second half.

I would have to credit a little of Gallatin coming out flat to them playing such a huge emotional game the week before vs Hunter's Lane. Hendersonville ran into that problem earlier this season when they beat Station Camp then had to turn around and play Beech the next week. Now we have to turn around a play a very tough Hunter's Lane team for the region championship. As for Gallatin, ya'll get a breather of a game vs a good, but clearly falling apart, McGavock team.

  9. Gallatin will win this one, I don't know how many people will actually give McGavock a shot in this one. If Gallatin can keep up the offense that they had in that 2nd half for a whole game, I wouldn't like many teams chances against them. Matthews is one heck of a football player, and he had really good protection most of the game. I didn't see why all the fuss was made about Holder though, I know he's got 1,000+ yards, but he seemed easily bottled up in my opinion.

What exactly do you mean by called out by Hville???

  10. Here's how the region will shake up from what I can tell:

    Hville win/Gallatin win---- 1st Hendersonville, 2nd Gallatin, 3rd Hunter's Lane

    Hville loss/Gallatin win----Gallatin, Hunter's Lane, Hendersonville

    Hville win/Gallatin loss----Hendersonville, Gallatin, Hunter's Lane

Hville loss/Gallatin loss---Hunter's Lane, Hendersonville, Gallatin

(Someone posted that Antioch is at the 4th place regardless, so I'm just assuming that to be true, because it is far too late for me to be thinking about that ha.)

But yeah, looks like the top 3 spots are still completely up for grabs in just about any order. Hendersonville has to win vs Hunter's Lane to win the Region because of the dropped game vs Hillwood.

Oh, this is all assuming that Hunter's Lane took care of Glencliff because the score isn't posted yet.

    I would have to believe that Hunter's Lane won that one though. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

    Hville loss/Gallatin win----Gallatin, Hunter's Lane, Hendersonville

    Hville win/Gallatin loss----Hendersonville, Gallatin, Hunter's Lane

Hville loss/Gallatin loss---Hunter's Lane, Hendersonville, Gallatin

  12. In all honest, this has got to be one of the greatest football games I've ever seen, no joke. This game had so much hype coming in that I didn't think it could possibly live up to it. Not only did it match expectations, it exceeded them. First half, all Hendersonville, 17-0 at half. 2nd half, Gallatin looked like a team possessed out there. When Gallatin's O gets clicking, I haven't seen many more dominating units. Ya'll are a special team no doubt, one of the best Gallatin teams I have seen in a long while and you'll make some noise come playoff time.

But enough can't be said for the Commandos ability to once again keep their composure, even when things are falling apart, and just find a way to win. Hville just weathered the storm of Gallatin's attack, took the ball 80 yards with 1:30 left, that's what great teams do. Next up is Hunter's Lane for what is now the 3rd installment of the Region 5-5A championship. Take care of business boys and bring that title back home to Hville!

(Just a side note, I do believe this game took a good 5 years off my life lol.)

  13. That was one of my questions, do you think that if the rezoning takes effect next year, some of the more athletic and talented kids will start going to their zoned Hillwood Cluster instead of Private School? And will the drop to 4A, which they most likely will do with less than 1000 students, help them be more competitive?

Since Hillwood is not passing the grade I do have the right to apply for Hillsboro but don't know much about them. Thanks for the advice, I will check them out.

Would you consider Private School, if you could get 50-90% of the tuition in Financial Aid?

From my understanding, Hillwood would be staying in 5A after the realignment, but don't quote me on that, they could very well be dropping to 4A I'm not sure. Even if they do, I really don't see them being ultra competitive for a good amount of time. I don't see kids passing up private schools to go to Hillwood until Hillwood proves they can win. Unfortunately, Hillwood won't win too much until they get better talent, kind of a vicious cycle actually.

I would recommend a private school if you can get them in of course, both for academic and athletic reasons. MBA and David Lipscomb are 2 Nashville private schools that are a force in football each year, those are the first to pop into my mind at least.

  14. No brainer man, send him to Hillsboro. Top level team year in and year out, and unless you are wanting to pony up for a private school, it's the best Nashville team there is. As for Hillwood, I don't see them getting any better any time soon, they need to drop down to 4A to have a chance because they've just been out of their element since they moved up. Keep your kid out of Hillwood!!

  15. This just in..... Hendersonville is full of poopy-heads and stinky pants losers. My girlfriend says she's wearing both Gallatin's (my alma mater), and Beech's (her alma mater) clothes just to make commandos that much angrier. I love this rivalry!

You went to Gallatin and your girlfriend went to Beech? That is quite possibly the most disgusting thing I've ever heard.

  16. Agreed! I am so sick of all the Metro crap that we've had to put up with all these years. I'm sure you guys are too. These two teams are and always have been the class of Region 5-5A and nothing makes me more happy than to see those Region standings just like they are. Unfortunatly for the Commandos, it will be shortlived, because the Wave will stand alone at the top after Friday!!!!

This reclassification is probably the best thing that has happened to football in state in a while. I LOVE the idea of localizing the districts, think of the crowds that games vs Gallatin, Beech, Portland, SC, MJ will bring. Better than the whopping 25 fans that these metro teams, even the good ones, bring, it's pathetic.

As for this game, I can't imagine the rain affecting it too much, both teams CAN pass, but both teams are run first. This is really the ideal setting for it I believe. And as for the crowds, I would like to think that a little rain won't keep people away from an HHS-GHS game. Expect overflow, get there early.

  17. I never saw the ejection personally. The only player from Overton I saw with a real attitude problem would have to be #87. He never got ejected though, just really really rattled by the Hville fans /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

  18. 615whorunit, if a HHS vs GHS game, possibly for the region crown, with the crowd and atmospherethat is expected, goes to OT......it will probably be one of the greatest games I will have ever witnessed. This game is going to be intense. Anyone who is outside of these 2 teams fanbase, you might want to come on over to Hendersonville this Friday night to see one of the best rivalries around.
