Kyle Saunders will be the region 8 best wrestler. He may be a year away from medaling, but if he gets it mentally there is no doubt in my mind he can and will medal at state. at 160 or 171 he is freakin unreal. The test will be when him and Kennedy wrestle (if kennedy drops). Kyle has motivation and he knows what it takes to win a state medal. He watched his best friend do it and trust me he wants it that bad.

Region 8 is still a long long way from making noise statewide. There were four placers last year out of 78 medals given. 13 weight classes and 6 medals per weight class. There are a handful that could medal at state this year but I think no more than 5. Jackel if healty this year, Freshman Seaman within a couple of years. Saunders 160 will not place not very impressive. The heavyweights Baird and Green might have a shot. Biggs and Bates within a year or two depending on how much they improve. There are one or two from Beech(Klienart) and Hendersonville that will sneak in there . Region 8 is not a very strong region. I think if Hendersonville who has been cream of the crop in the region the past few years and probably this year would get there tails handed to them if they were in a region like the one Bradley, Cleveland, Cookeville, are in. That region had 7 or 8 state champions out of 13 weight classes and many other placers. It will be an interesting season. We will see what happens.

If you were a true bulldog you would stop and think that coach shad has been a bulldog forever and regardless if he coached here the rest of his life he will always be a bulldog. Coach Shad is making the best move for his family, himself, and he is doing what he obviously thinks is right. Quit hating and think about coach shad and his family for a second.

he knows the game well enough to coach most anything i believe.

I dont know why wyant would go to siegel. It's really strange considering he has more rings than they have wins the last two years. He had total control of player fitness and weightlifint here at Smyrna, he had a really nice setup in the field house.

Bet Coach Carson is kicking himself now, he woulda been the coach...and now he is stuck at 1A Eagleville.

you know because your mr. Raikes right? Coach Carson went to eagleville because he wanted to be a head coach and prove himself. Mr. Raikes had the hardest choice to make and he made one so I think the players and the parents should all stay on board and give Coach Williams a shot. Obviously coach Shad and Mr. Raikes thinks he was a good choice and they think he is a good person so thats good enough for me and it should be for every bulldog.

Well it was a suprise to quite a few from what we are hearing, but if this Bulldog team is to be successful everyone that is "faithful" as you say to the Bulldogs has to back up Matt Williams with everything they have. Like I said earlier he has a great program that has been passed down to him and I hope he can continue to keep the ball rolling!!! Gonna miss you next year!

wow I'm kinda shocked at this hire to be honest. Mr. Raikes said their will be a meeting at 12:50 formally announcing the head coach to the team including last years players. I hope the assistants that are still here stay because if they don't it could be chaos. I would like to hear what some of the bulldog faithful have to say.

That a boy!!!!! I am very proud of the way you wrestled. Every wrestler who started the beginning of the season wanted to get a medal at state. Only 6 in each weight class got them. 12 in both divisions. Every team in state is dealt the same opportunity. Every team in the state has to deal with injuries and sickness. Everyone wants to say I believe he would have gotten beat by so and so. They had there chance. YOu answerd the bell they did not. THose that show the dedication and wisdom enough to keep themselves healthy all season have half the battle won. Then to perform when it means the most that is the other half of the battle. Kyle Frazier you are what high school athletics are all about. 2x state football champ, and a state wrestling medalist. I believe that wrestlers playing football make the football teams better. ha ha On top of all of this you are a gentlman and a fine upstanding student athlete. I want to sit and have that pie together now that the season is over.

Thanks for your suppport over the last three years. You have always been a supporting coach even when it came down to me and your guy. Region 8 has been bashed enough over the past three years and It's time to start making some more noise, this year was only the tip of the iceburg

Evil Twin who pulled your string was just stating my opinion, do you not believe wrestling year round is better. Would like to hear from ringworm to answer the questions in other post. I watch him wrestle he is a good wrestler but just stated he might be a little better if he does it year round. Do you think he would have finished that well if Young did not get hurt has he wrestled him this year. And I think the 2 Blackman guy Kennedy and Patton could win against him just by the way they wrestle.

do you think i would have two state championship rings by wrestling year round to. and as far as i know kennedy got sixth place and we never wrestled so unless somebody wrestles how can you say " i think they would win because they wrestle different" Do you hate me or Smyrna or all two sport athletes

My opinion is still the same and your wrong about me being a "sharpshooter" hater I wrestled for them, coached with them and even reffed for them. My opinion is I dont agree with people thinking you should do one sport year-round especially in high school, now college is different but even then two sport athletes are usually exceptional. What high school kid wrestles every single day from january to december. Are you saying that people who play two sports or three sports in high school are less of a wrestler. And the state tournament is over with and we can all sit around and say what if, well if this happened, and if he was healthy things would be different. Well s*** in one hand and wish in the other and see which one fills up first. And me josh patton and micheal kennedy all got our places because that's what we earned, nobody handed us our medals at weigh ins and said well according to tennwrestling or coach bray your predicted to finish third or fifth or sixth. As far as I can remember every ranking i saw leading up to state had kennedy and armstead higher than 5th and sixth and jake young over tolbert. The tournament is over kennedy patton and young have next year but for some seniors they will never wrestle in high school again and don't diminish somebody's accomplishments because you beleive in hard core one sport attention.

Shs130 if you really want to get better you should come to the sharpshooter workouts @ the Blackman wrestling building We have 10 Blackman state qualifiers working out together along with a bunch of Oakland,Siegal,and Riverdale wrestlers.We have at least 10 varsity quality wrestlers in the 130 to 135 lb range(Weston Lyszyn,Ryan Nell,Colby O'Brien,Kyle Hughes,Kyle Tate,and Matt Houglum,just to name a few)5 of which were all State Qualifiers.They practice from 3:30 to 5:30 on Monday ,Tues. and Thursdays.It's also much less expensive than Lions Pride and we go all Summer until the start of next season.J-Rod worked with us last off season.

You don't need to wrestle year round though. Working out and conditioning and doing other things besides constantly wrestling is more important than being a die-hard wrestler every single day until the season starts.

Yes indeed a phenomnial wrestler to watch. But why did Fuller jump up to weight classes. I know for sure he would have won it if he wrestled the 140 weight class. And is this year not his second time recieveing the best match award at state ?
