  1. Forgive me for jumping sports here (usually on the softball side) but after watching some of the Cookeville/Sparta game tonight I came over here to see what the final score was...

Don't get me wrong White Co. does have a few talented young men on their team but it's obvious Cookeville had one bad inning. It happens to the best of the best at times and when it hits, it comes on like a freight train and results in a train wreck. White Co. gave several teams a run for their money and when they left the field, their opponents knew they had been in a ballgame.

You can't take anything away from those young men on the Cavalier team. Those guys have a great coach and a top notch program and they are 7AAA district champions. Ask any parent who has a child participating in Cookeville's softball program and I bet they'd trade coaches with the boys in the blink of an eye. It's amazing at the difference in the calibur of coaching at that school.

Cookeville is losing several seniors this year so next year might be a rebuilding year who knows. Any who... good luck to everyone in the 7AAA tournament!!

the difference in coaching calibur is a result of the sport. of course softball is going to have a worse coach then baseball. i mean lets be for real here for a second. IT'S SOFTBALL!

  2. I TOLD YOU WHITE COUNTY ISNT THAT BAD ....AND I AM THE DUMB ONE?....cookeville has a very good team but white county is a team that GETS BETTER as the season goes along..,

you are an idiot dude. we didnt give a darn about the game. we are already in regions who cares what happens in district tournament. its kinda like when you already have home field and a bye week in the playoffs but have to play the last game of the season to a team who has to win to make the playoffs. we arent going to try as hard and they are going to leave everything on the field. but see ya at regions riverdale.. oh yeah if you make it that is

  3. na we are not good enough to look ahead to anyone ...white county played good ball each night and made the plays they needed to to give themselves a chance...keep in mind they only lost to cookeville 3-2 last week Richie hit a ball to right feild that could have won the game in the 7th inning but the right feilder caught that ball in his lap he made a great play and they did that most of the night making the play they needed to keep them in it

dude you are dumb. what are you talking about white county only losing to cookeville by one. the last two times they played cookeville won by ten run ruling them in both games. good try tho bud. maybe you are just trying to make riverdale look better by barely beating white county saying they arent bad. they are atrocious. by far the worst team in the district. maybe the worst team in middle tennessee

  4. Knew it was too good to be true, but your right that is what tubbs should be used for. How about the catching

situation. Kid behind the plate seems to be too slow and not a good blocker, decent arm but still would love to see us with reeder there. Talking about being strong up the middle

the catching situation isnt good. coach is rotating wise and gerardi leaning more towards wise. he is young and improving as he goes, and gerardi is just not a very good athlete. i would love to see reeder behind the plate but i dont think that is where he wants to be. he believes he has a future at third, which he does, but his future is probably brighter catching

  5. The TSSAA rule is the player must attend every class and be on time to that class. Noone ever really checks up on it so its coaches jurisdiction, but if someone found out and turned them in the team would be disqualified from any game that a player played under an infraction of the rule.

  6. Cookeville High School may have the most feared stadium in the state for an opposing right fielder. I'm not talking about the bullpen being in the way or the sun in your eyes, not even a slope in the field. I'm talking about that massive student body tailgate party in right field that gives the right fielder a mouthful all game. It is feared my most. Most leave the stadium alive. One left alive but not on his team anymore. Tyler Mills from sparta last year quit after dropping a ball in the bottom of the ninth with two outs that drove in the winning run. The chatter got to him he started crying and quit the team right there. This is just a fair warning. If you are scheduled to play right field at CHS better bring your A game or some earplugs, the earplugs will probably help more. It will mess you up. Best of luck to all those unlucky souls who have to visit right field.

  7. Dang wish I would have stayed and watched the game instead of going to Little Rock, But lets see what happens

the rest of the week. Its a weak schedule, sorry sparta and crossville, I bet he puts them back in

to see if they can get there pathetic batting avg up and hope they dont make to many errors in the field.

Putting Akers at short was a good move, but probaly wont last. Let me knowrest of week wont be back in town til late saturday

Coach gave griggs and tubbs both a day off against knox catholic. they played a good game. akers looked like a stud at short but he looks like a stud wherever he plays in every sport. farley also looked really good in right field. i wouldnt mind seeing that line up for the rest of the year and just let tubbs pinch run

  8. The other schools were playing on the same course as Dekalb. River Watch is a very hard course and they beat tripleA White County and Payne was in Florida in a tournament and they had to play without him. Payne is an exceptional golfer and a great kid. They beat their nearest competitor 27 strokes and if Payne was not there they would have used their 5 man and still beat them 17 strokes. Dekalb has a lot of talent. These kids are averaging in the 70's and I think they will leave their mark on the state. Very few kids come along with the talent that Payne has but there are other top notch players on Dekalbs team. Thats why its called a team .

i can tell you for sure the other kids on dekalbs team compare nowhere near to the other players in state.. none of them are any good.. just learn that and get on with it.. payne carries that team and will probably get tired of it soon so they need to teach these kids to golf

  9. payne denman will be going to the UF

having played with payne many times in my day i have to say he is by far the best player in the state for his age.. he has the best swing of any junior golfer i have seen in.. grew up around golf and will only continue to get better.. he struggled at state but that goes along with the young age.. i am willing to bet he wins one of the next two if not both.. kids got a bright future in the sport of golf

  10. Are you kidding me? Hunter is not a redneck. Just because he is from Rhea County doesn't automatically make him that. Stereotyping is wrong. You shouldn't judge him by his hometown. Hunter is one of the nicest people that you will ever meet. He will bend over backwards to help you in almost any situation. So maybe you should actually talk to him before jumping to that judgment.

i never said he wasnt nice.. and i have talked to hunter and played golf with him many times... hes a nice kid great golfer but slightly on the redneck side and could use a bit of an appearance change

  11. Yeah he got lucky that he wasn't in one of those groups but Walker Valley was really unlucky to have 2 players in those groups. Yeah I remember Hunter telling me about that, but he does play better when he has his shirt untucked.

He doesnt tuck his shirt in because he is a redneck and not a golfer.. he will never make it in college golf or any mini tours if he doesnt mature into a golfer.. he may be able to make a good run on the long drive tours but never any GOLF tours because appearance is such a huge part

  12. Hold up a minute......What about Riverdale's golf team????? From what I can see Riverdale is takin it to Cookeville lately.....Every player is shooting par or better......thats what it takes to win state.....It'll come down to Riverdale and Cookeville at the Region Tournament for sure

Riverdale taking it to Cookeville? Are you serious.. not once did riverdale beat cookeville this year and everytime but two they played in the boro.. cookeville walked all over riverdale this season and regions proved cookeville is by far the best team in the region and the team to beat at state.. if you're making your pick to win state and want to be right i'd go with cookeville
