  1. If I am not mistaken, have most these coaches not won, and been part of good programs other places? I think that for the coaches' sake they shoud get run out of town. Then you folks can have coaches that are soft and not demanding, and you'll win all sorts of games...... maybe even a gold ball, right.

It seems the only time high school kids listin to parents is when they are badmouthing teachers and coaches. Are some of us just looking for attention from little Johnny?

This is varsity football, not junior pro where everybody gets to play, the parents really do know as much as the coaches and they get an orange slice after the game. If you guys ever want to win, let your coaches coach. I hope that some of you are as passionate about your kid's report card as you are badmouthing good people.

  2. I hope that those of you who support quitters over good, tough coaches do not speak for all of the East Hickman community. The coaches you all have are good guys, who will build a good program if they are allowed to build a program of tough players. Sounds to me like toughness might be in short supply out there.

Supporting quitters over good coaches....... what a joke. Grow up and toughen up!

I hope the kids that are left will have faith in the coaches, because I know for a fact that the coaches know what it takes to win.

  3. As for being theydontcare, SHSbuckeye, or football15, or eagleboy62, or anyone else how can i post something when i am not close to a computer. That is a mistery, the last time those people posted was from 11-12 when i was sitting down talking about football with Mitchell and Lewis. Sorry to burst your bubbles. One man cannot be in two places at once. Good try though!

I stand corrected; you have never posted in order to promote yourself as a viable head coaching candidate at NW, NE or wherever else. Also, I never implied that you were any of the above screen names.

  4. Coaching for eight years does not make a person ready for a head job. I've been coaching longer than that, and I'm an idiot! The best coach for you may even have fewer year in than that... who knows? Obviously, you would like to bring in a great football guy; however, at this point, you just need a coach with some maturity who can stay off of Coach T, making up screen names, and who can be a positive face for the program. Like I said, simply look for a good young assistant coach already in the district who people can rally around.

Also, parents remember??¦..the squeaky wheel gets the grease! Go fight for your boys, and do not continue to tolerate the stupidity and incompetence of the powers that be at the school and district!

  5. This whole thing is such an out-of-control joke that NO good coach would take this job; furthermore, any outsider who does is either no good or running from something at his last job. They should just transfer a good, young assistant coach from one of the other county schools to Northeast, giving him the job (nobody from the current staff!). Teachers get moved between schools in the district all the time, and I think they need to do the same with some coaches in this case.

This whole thing really stinks for the kids, and the powers that be stink as well. You parents at Northeast should be at that school and district office raising heck every day!!!!! The administration not only needs to get off of their butts to get something done, but so do the parents. As vocal as many parents are about how bad the coaches are, let's make sure you are as vocal to get one hired!

  6. I really dont think there is anything to worrie about the way i hear it coach chris southerland and 5 coaches he has hired are leading the eagles thru spring practice so i am sure when the new coach takes over when ever that may be he will have a fine tuned machine

    is he a teacher there

  7. SHSBuckeye,

You and I both know that the administration his rubbed certain people involved the "wrong way" for a while now. Just this past week came the latest act of ignorance by the "higher powers".

At that school currently there are 8 coaches teaching that coach sports. 8??????? There have been 13 teachers hired in the last 2 years. How many of those hirings were coaches?????? TRY 1 (and he didn't even make it through one year) /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

It's people like that in which caused a great football coach leave in the first place and now he's turned a football program (in AL) that was at absolute rock bottom prior to his arrival into a real contender.

I'm not sure Northeast would be less frustrating, would it?

  8. The guy is a winner. PLAIN & SIMPLE!!! With Smyrna's talent it would be just like plugging Rankin in over at Alcoa after Reid left a few years ago.

Also, the bottom line is that besides the 2001 season he has never got to coach a team that was really and truly a contender for a state title. Some guys are too good of coaches to not have a state title on their resume.

    did he interview?

  9. I have some HUGE NEWS about who Offutt would attempt to hire on his staff if he were to become head coach. He would attempt to land another head coach at a school within the same area that his school is located. Also he would hire all of the assistants from that same school as well.

HINT: The school is one of only 10 schools in all of Class 3A that have:

a.) been to the playoffs each of the last 6 years

b.) won multiple games in the playoffs during that time

Coach Offutt will certainly win at Northeast if he becomes the next coach and hires a staff like this /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

That would be pretty big. I'm not sure that it would really be that good of a move for those involved. The grass is not always greener, trust me.

  10. Some of you are out of your mind! Smyrna had a great offense. But you will not win back to back titles without being great on the defensive side of the ball too. Do I detect some jealousy? All of the badmouthing of Smyrna on here would make me think that they have trouble winning games, let alone state titles. I think you guys at Riverdale have bigger problems than Smyrna's Defense; for example, getting out of the 3rd round.

  11. No offense with this statement, but this is Riverdale High School not Cheatham County. Aydelott must hire someone with experience and knowledge to get the job done. This hire needs to come from someone from a successful 5A program in the Mid-State.

The former DC at Sycamore (in Cheatham County) has been DC at Smyrna the past 2 years. He has done OK. Guys that are good coaches can coach at any high school level. I'm surprised you did not bring this up Big Catfish Hunter.

  12. OK Smyrna folks I never said that knowing the other teams plays or signals was illegal. If Coach A is too stupid to change his signals then that is HIS fault. You simply used what info you had and played smart using them. For that Congratulations because you did what teams are suppose to do and that is find out how teams are beating you and then use that knowledge to beat THEM.

This goes along with things like Lebanon's using the 'lift'. I found out how they were using it and exposed it. Thusly teams like WC and SMYRNA did things to counteract it. Just because I expose things does not mean I am condemming them. I just like to level any field I see that needs leveling and watch football.

Everyone also might like to observe which teams are using 'two' armbands in a game. It is common practice for one to be YOUR plays and the other to be the OTHER teams plays. That way your players do not have to be told something by your coach as they are told directly by the other teams coach when they signal the play in. All the players have to know then is which armband to look at! The whole team does NOT have to have two arm bands, but the captain on the field that is calling the on field defense does.

This has been done for years and some know it and use it. Thing is a really good Coach has to adjust and counter it. If they don't then it is the coaches fault and HE should accept the blame for the loss. Unfortunatly though some egos will not allow some coaches to do that.

I have coached at 2 places that have used two armbands at times...... both having OUR plays on them. You are very full of accusations.

I do, however, give you credit; I live out of state and should not really care about any of this, but you keep me coming back.

  13. As a coach, I would rather have tape than a playbook. Trading opponents' tape secretly with other schools is dirtier than "sharing" a playbook. As any coach knows, what is in a playbook, and what is really run don't always jive with each other. This is overblown. Good guys are being attacked on here for no good reason over something that really doesn't matter.

  14. OH! You mean the coach who could not come up with a defense to stop R'dales running game even knowing ALL of R'dales plays. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

I have known Bud Raikes since 1968 and I can tell you now that NOTHING on here will influence his decision one way or the other. Man knows what he wants and will go for it be they already there or from the outside.

Personally I would like to see Coach Wyatt get it and NOT because he is from R'dale, but because he deserves a chance at being a HC after the shafting Coach R gave him.

You are right, the guy can't coach a lick. All his success has been despite being a bum. Riverdale has a great program and staff, but people from other schools can coach also....... Can't they?
