  1. Congrats CPA. Good luck the rest of the way. Would love to see CPA against LC.

To the Dawgs, congrats on a good season. I really thought this was going to be our year, after last season. But this team proved to lack the same intensity and leadership that last year's team had. Oh well, it's over now. A LOT OF WORK TO BE DONE IN THE OFF-SEASON!!!

  2. It??™s game time so the time for all the jibber jabber is over. This has been a fun week of t??te-? -t??te. I congratulate both teams for the great season that they have had this year. CPA will no doubt present a great challenge for the Bulldogs and vice versa. Play hard Bulldogs and good luck!

We appreciate all the well wishes from LC this week. Good luck to the Panthers as well!

  3. Passing

    Roman CPA 132 completions 222 attempts 0.595 completion % 1787 yards 18 TDs 13 Ints

    Rushing

Scott Sowell Hickman Co. 138 attempts 1081 yards 7.8 avg. 8 TDs (missed last 3 games)

You would think these two will determine the outcome of the game, but CPA has the Z factor.

Mr. Mason has seen an increase in carries over the last three weeks, and I look for CPA to pound it with Mason and then take it to the air when they put 8 in the box.

Any truth to the rumor that the reason you all keep referring to #85 as "Z" or "Mr. Mason" is because he is a wee little man and a wee little man is he? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

  4. They may, but when you guys played us, you didn't steam roll, took a late interception return of 90 yards to beat us.

Notre Dame fans of old were the last folks to have as much "blind optimism" as you display on here. You lost the first LC game 37-0. Do you really think you stand a chance in this one?

    LC 35 Waverly 7

  5. I have seen both teams play and think that they will be very evenly matched. HC can win this game, but they have to play to their strength. HC has more team speed, but not as many playmakers. I read on the boards about the innovative offensive scheme that CPA runs that allows them to maximize their talent. I really didn??™t see anything other than what ?? of the high schools and 2/3??™s or the colleges are running today. They run the spread/gun with a QB who has a decent arm and average running ability. There is no doubt HC QB is the better running between the two. CPA also has an athletic/giant (#85?) that plays wing, WR and running back. They come to the line and ??¦??¦??¦??¦??¦??¦??¦??¦??¦??¦??¦??¦??¦ you guess it, they look to the sidelines then everyone looks at an armband then they run the play. They run the fade to #11 or fake (or give) to the running back and the QB keeps it up the middle following lead blockers. If it is short yardage then they have a dazzling play where they give it to the 6??™6??? running back to bull over everyone. And if they are on the goal line they will ??¦??¦??¦??¦??¦??¦??¦??¦??¦??¦??¦??¦.. right again, lob it up to the big man for the jump ball. On defense they will base out of odd front using. #85 will line up either at nose or MLB (where I think he??™s harder to block). They (like 80% of every other team) will run ?? coverage behind their front. They will either lock up man on the WR with halves deep or bump and run pushing the WR to the outside. The FS??™s do a good job of run support and play pretty physical. The most impressive thing about their defense is how well they run to the football and how good of an athlete #85 is. GP didn??™t have but 1 player that could go the distances on any play and he didn??™t play on offense the 2nd half. HC will have 3 that can go the distance on any given play.

    Thanks for the scouting report! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

well if no one else has a good perception of how a game can be won, ddaddy has a good idea of what CPA can do. I think the Hickman County coaches will have a good game plan and will match up well against the Lions.

I love to see Hickman County win, every time they do not play Lewis County. They had a hard way to go in years past and they have paid their dues in the years past.

    BullDogs- 35

    CPA- 32

Maybe the Bulldogs can do their "729 Dance"

I would love to see them in the Panther Den in a couple of weeks.

Again, thanks for the love. You are saying things I never thought I would hear from a Panther! /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />

  6. I think the Bulldogs make a name for themselves Friday. Stop bashing the play calling, you don't score that much during the regular season and complain about the offense. Defense will have to stop a well coached offensive line. I think the Defensive coaches for Hickman County will have them ready for anything the CPA offense can throw at them.

Sowell will play this friday. Grimes will be back to his old self on defense and Key will be the winning factor.

Hope you guys do great in this game, I want to see Hickman County back at the Panther Den in a couple of weeks.

    Good luck to both teams.

Thanks for the love! Good luck to LC this week!

  7. Late night at church praying for the Dawgs... /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> Or They might just see the writing on the wall. It's coming.

We were both at church on Sunday night. As for the writing on the wall, you might want to look at your own wall. You are lucky to have made the playoffs!

  8. Where is dawgballfan and bigdawgstatus? Surely you're not going to let these guys down on your boys this bad!!

Thanks for the shout out! One half of the Dynamic Duo is present and accounted for. Look for DBF to make his entrance soon.

Where do I start? You all have covered a lot of ground. How about the seeding? I seem to recall there being some complaining last season coming from the CPA folks because they had to play someone from their own region in the 1st round. Ah, what a shame! Well apparently somebody listened and the private schools' opinions carry some weight with the TSSAA. Because this year we get the shaft so that GP and CPA don't have to play each other again - that would be such a travesty! And who are the whiners?!?

About the game itself...we have a lot of seniors on their way out. Honestly, this game will be mostly about how badly they want to continue to play high school football. I believe we have the talent, coaching and opportunity to win this game. CPA is a good football team and if we bring anything less than our "A" game - it will be a long night. Looking forward to a good, healthy and well played game!

  9. If the point of the thread was to discuss the game................the game's over. Hickman's got another one this week as does East. Talk about those. If it's not about a beat down or oneupmanship.............why are you still hanging around?

    How can they miss you BigDawg, if you won't go away? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

Last post on page 5...it is like a train wreck (or an episode of Jerry Springer), you just can't stop LOOKING!

  10. But hasn't this pretty much been a counter productive thread from the beginning? I mean, what's really been accomplished?

East's coaching staff knew exactly what they were getting into starting a program from the ground up. They went in with their eyes wide open. Not sure about the fans. As I've said before, I like how East's players go about their business. If the scoreboard wasn't on and you walked up to the field, you wouldn't know at first glance if the Eagles were ahead or behind in the game whether you walked up in the 1st quarter or the 4th. They are taking their lumps and learning life lessons imo that will pay dividends for them much further down the road.

As far as the Hickman County fans go, it's part of the rivalry. Believe me, those guys have been on every rung of the ladder from the top down to the bottom over the years. I'm willing to give them a little lattitude when it comes to crowing about their most recent success, particularly the students, but.........let's act like we've been there before. Beating down a 1-8 team on a message board just because you can is not going to pay any dividends down the road.

Keep things in perspective. Let's let this thread die.

The point of the thread was to discuss the game. Then East fans started dogging out their own coaching staff. Then the coaching staff (supposedly) posted a defensive and ill-advised message. How is that anything like HC "beating down a 1-8 team"? Weren't you the guy that posted the icon 'eating popcorn' just a short while ago? Now you are trying to play Thread Police?

  11. I don't know if these guy's are really coaches at east or not, but I do know that they surely are not the first coaches to read or even post on a CoachT thread. So I guess if this is a public forum then they have the same right to post as anyone else.

I imagine that they are frustrated with their situation and venting a bit. I know from sitting in the stands on Friday and being in the community overall that these men have fought an uphill battle from day one with very little support from the fan base and the parents overall.

It is one thing to question the X's and O's, anyone who buys a ticket or watches a game on tv does that, but when you make accusations that the coaches are putting players in harms way........... Then you have crossed a line. Football is a contact sport and players will and do get hurt. It is not like they can play platoon football with their numbers. A lot of those kids play both ways. Ironman football is tough and those kids play tough. I don't know too many coaches that replace their starters in a losing effort, I respect those kids and coaches that have kept fighting through the adversity. Maybe someday our community as a whole will quit trying to undermine their efforts.

Coaches have the right to post. It's just not very smart and often counter-productive. I guarantee that they are frustrated but this is not the place to vent. And I agree that they have fought an uphill battle with little support.

  12. Shut your mouth! If you have a problem with our program see "ME" in person and do not post this garbage on a pubic forum again!

    Matt Jones

    Head Football Coach

    East Hickman High School

Are you kidding me?!? We already had one East person impersonating Mr. Crabtree so I guess it is possible this is not really Coach Jones. If it is, why would you even get on here and respond to this garbage?

Keep in mind that this is a public forum and people can voice their opinions regardless of what those opinions are. You have no right to tell this person or anyone else on here to keep quiet. Besides this East soap opera is entertaining me. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

  13. This is Coach Hatley, the defensive coach of the east eagles. I usually do not post as can be seen by my user name stat line, but I think today I will say a few things to the supporters of our program that are upset at the way we do things. "Why were the starters still in the game?". We will be breaking down film Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to ?. Come by and see for yourself who HC still had in the game. (what HC RB broke the long run at the end of the game after #39 got hurt? What # was the QB that threw the late TD pass?) It is our job to STOP the "O". If the "O" continues to try to score and if they do so with their best possible players we will try to stop them with our best possible players. I don't think there is any question that #39 is one of our best defensive players. He played his butt off in that game and has done so all year long. He plays the game the way it is to be played, full speed and as physical as he can. Injuries are a terrible part of the game however and he was injured. My question to our supporters that post under hidden names is this, why do you not trust that we are doing what is best for the direction of this team? Do you think we meet each sunday and game plan for the best possible way to loose our next game? We have improved each game since the school opened. The kids that have stuck it out give everything they have each week and I am very proud of them. They could have laid it down at any point this year, but they continue to go hard. If you don't think we are the right coaches for the job, just come out and say it. Why beat arround the bush? If you supporters have the answers to the questions you continue to ask let us know. What offense should we run? How would you do things and how would what you would do translate into a better result? Second guessing what I do in front of me is one thing, but to do so infront of our players only takes away from the improvements we continue to make.

As they say in the Bud Light commercials...DUDE! Before I make my main point let me say this, I realize that your job is an extremely difficult one. You all just started varsity football. No doubt right now you are very frustrated. You never realized how critical and yet how unsupportive a fan base could be. Welcome to Hickman County. I am sure you have second guessed your decision more than once to take on this job. But never and I mean never should you #1 even VIEW a message board; #2 create a user account and #3 actually post messages, especially in response to criticism. Why do you think college and professional coaches say they don't read or pay attention to media reports? Could you imagine Phil Fulmer trying to respond to all the criticism he is facing right now?

Let's chalk this one up to experience and count this as an error in judgement on your part. Learn from it and move on. By the way, you spoke of people "that post under hidden names". What are you doing, coach?

  14. Hopping around websites getting stats, and posting them here really makes you intelligent................... boy I wish i had them skills................ Stats dont win games. Anybody can lose anytime, Bulldogs have proven they are not invincible , East hopes to prove it again tonight !

You wish you had those skills. Sounds like you need a grammar lesson while we are at it!

  15. Nice move by whoeover wrote East on the side of the hill at the football field and put the big E over the HC logo at midfield. That's all the Dawgs needed was a little more motivation for the game tonight.

Heard the 'E' at midfield was done in toilet paper! That's classic! Have trouble getting the paint to stick to wet grass?

  16. All the Smack I see is puppydawgstatus , he is so sure of all the victorys HC will get. He was so sure about Lewis county losing as well........... Keep up the great predictions.

No smack from me, just facts. I have yet to predict a game. I never said we would beat Lewis Co. I have alluded to a victory over East, but anyone with any sense would admit to that outcome.

Look, I do not expect you all to comprehend all the intelligent behaviors I exude. Just sit back and try to learn something.

  17. well done,I still stand firm on my last post.the Eagles will earn your respect win or lose.

The Eagles already have my respect. What they are doing is nowhere near easy. Playing with 30 or so kids and playing a varsity schedule right off the bat - can't be easy.

The people I do not respect are the ones from East that are talking smack about what they are going to do to HC. Take your lumps, be quiet about it, be respectful to your opponents and when you do start to win a significant amount, the respect will come back to you ten fold.

  18. you might want to actually check out the number of touchdowns the Eagles have scored.Every week they improve and Friday is looking good for our defense.I want to believe that a good game will be played and respect will be earned. win or lose you will know we came to play football.

I have checked the stats...that's why I posted what I did. Here are some more stats for you. East has been outscored 114 to 278 on the year. That is an average of 14 to 35 per game. East has scored a total of 17 TDs on the year, 9 of which have come in the 4th qtr. when they were no doubt playing against 2nd and 3rd string defenses. The other scoring by quarter breaks down this way - 1 in the 1st, 1 in the 2nd, 5 in the 3rd and the one score against Stewart County is not categorized by quarter.

On the flip side, HC has outscored its opponents 209 to 121 on the season for an average of 26 to 15 per game. 48 of the 121 points scored on the Dawgs has been in the 4th qtr when a majority of the time the 2nd/3rd string has been in. The Dawgs have only allowed 10 first qtr points all season and those were all in the 1st game of the year. Up until two weeks ago they had not allowed a rushing TD in the 1st qtr since the 1st game.

  19. BigDawgStatus. I'll answer your question here if that's ok. We're being civil I think.

Having 2 classifications in a region is exactly what TSSAA passed this last summer. 3A and 4A teams WILL be in the same region because it cuts down on travel which is what the schools want and it stabilizes the regions which is what everybody wants. The way I understand it is that the top 2 teams in each region regardless of classification will make the playoffs and the top team per classification in each region are automatic bids as well. Everybody else is a wild card.

There should be a thread around that describes it, otherwise it will all be clear on Nov. 13th when the new regions are announced.

Thanks for the reply. After reading your previous posts I figured you could straighten me out. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
