Very anticipated match up! Don’t know much about Peabody other than what I have seen on film. Know they have been to state how many times? How many Gold Balls? This will be Waverly’s 3rd trip to the semifinals in school history I believe. Last time being in 2016 against Trezevant, other time in the mid 90s against Portland.

And in 87 against Brentwood Academy

  4. Waverly is starting 3 freshmen along with 2 seniors. They lost 2 players off last years team, one, a senior who tore her ACL and a junior, who decided to be homeschooled and wasn't allowed to play because the TSSAA didn't recognize her program. The 2 senior starters didn't play much last year and, of course, the 3 freshmen were playing middle school basketball. Going to be a long, rebuilding year for the TIgerettes. Lost to Houston County 19-60 on Monday 12/4, lost to Hickman County 21-36 on Tuesday 12/5 and lost to Lewis County 34-51 on Friday 12/8

The Waverly team has won championships at every level except this one and i think they are on a mission. General if your at the game I would like to meet ya if your ok with that. Waverly will not be over looking y'all and like I said I think a running base team would have more success against us than a passing based team would. Safe travels to you guys. I'm so ready for this game our schedule has been really boring here lately!

What championships has Waverly won? Last year's  semifinal game against Trezevant and 1987 team's semifinal game against Brentwood Academy are the only games I can remember them making it that far,  except maybe the 1994 may have played in a semifinal game,  but NEVER in a championship game much less winning a championship.  Don't get me wrong,  I'd love to see it because I'm a Waverly alumni myself but get your facts straight before posting. The only championships Waverly has won had been in softball,  girls basketball,  girls team golf,  girls golf individual and girls cross country individual.

  6. Thanks ath. It's been a long time since we've had an exploding team like this year. Great to see the stands being packed but only wish they would support the kids winning or losing. It only hurts the kids by not having the support from the community either way. Would be nice to see another undefeated season in Waverly history. It's been since 1987 to have been undefeated in the regular season. Made it to the semifinals that year before being defeated by Brentwood Academy.

  7. Here are the standings as of today:

                                            District          Overall

    Camden Central                  3-0               4-0

    Hickman Co.                        2-0               3-0

    Lewis Co.                             1-0               3-0

    Waverly Central                   1-0               3-0

    Creek Wood                         1-1               2-2

    Fairview                                1-2              2-2

    East Hickman                       0-2              0-3

    Montgomery Central             0-2              1-3

    Stewart Co.                          0-2               1-3

Who are the surprise teams so far? Outlook of the district by seasons-end?

  8. But even making rude comments affects everyone as individuals assume that since I've thinks or says something like that that everyone will. Off you have nothing nice and positive to say, DON'T say anything. Leave to the young men that work their butts off in the weight room, classroom and on the field.

Dear DatWavoGuy or JS I'm not doing or saying anything wrong. Everybody has an opinion and I have not said anything negative about the program. I have made some rude comments about previous opponents but it's cause it is what I witnessed. I already said I would watch my mouth. Have a good night. O and I am sure Coach McConnel does not want players on this message board. Coach graves certainly didn't.

  9. Stewart County has a post player that's probably at least 6' 2". She has great shooting range too. Stewart County has some great perimeter shooting as well. They press most of the game. That's about all they do......Hickman County has twins (#3 and #15) that are tough inside. #14 has great range outside but also can beat you off the dribble and drive. All 3 have good size. Hickman County likes to trap at half court.

  10. 1985-86 Waverly Central Tigers. We're ranked #1 in the state all season long. Started 4 seniors and 1 sophomore. Team consisted of the Mulholland brothers. The oldest, a senior, was 6'10" and the youngest, a sophomore, was 6'9". They were undefeated going into the regional tournament and was defeated there by Goodpasture. If my memory serves me correctly, Goodpasture held the ball the whole first quarter. I think the halftime score was something like 6-4. I think the final was like 28-24. And Waverly beat Goodpasture pretty handedly in the regular season.

  12. Yes, that is the plan. The way I understand it......#8/#9 seed will play with the winner traveling to the #1 seed, #7 seed travels to #2 seed, #6 seed travels to #3 seed and #5 seed travels to #4 seed. Also, I think they're having a district meeting tomorrow and I'll see if I can find more information. If I do, I'll post it here.
