  1. A first stepping stone for Dobyns-Bennett begins this week. AND NO I am not speaking of tuesday vs. Tenn. High. I am talking about Sullivan East. DB should roll over Tenn. High with there great defense and pure shooters from the outside. The East game should be exciting cause East ALWAYS has a great crew of people to come out and support against the Indians. The one thing that DB can do to slow East's offense down is with their great TEAM defense. DB will use both Sylvester and Halvorsen to slow down Snapp. Both of these guys do a good job of denying players the ball to the best players DB has played thus far. It will come down to them on Snapp, if they can play the kind of defense they are capable of, then this could be another blowout to add to Dobyns-Bennett's list. Any other thoughts?

  2. Dobyns-Bennett spanked their competition this week in three games winning by a total of 119. In that display was a 35 point win over Volunteer. What happened in that game?

Saw where Halvorsen and Sylvester did a nice job of defending Cradic.

  3. Yeah thats all I am saying about that. I heard them say it at the end of the year last year so I thought I might just throw it in there.

    ANYWAYS..............

    Sullivan Central vs. Science Hill

    Daniel Boone vs. Dobyns Bennett

    ..................

    Dont know the rest.

  4. Coach Whitt never ever once told me nor any of the players on that team to kill someone as you basically state! I would love to know who your source is on all your information you are using cause you need to tell them they are wrong and if its just you watching the games well I do know that I was told to play hard every second of the game I was in and I and everyone on the team did so. Everyone states DB SH has all this talent but yet they play volunteer and dirty play comes out well there is a difference in competing and not backing down its alot different then playing dirty.

Well I have some information that will probably NOT shock you Smith. I have talked to two players from Volunteer. One from the team last year and one from the team this year. And both said that Coach Whittemore of Volunteer told them to take a certain players legs out on a layup or shot if they got one. I will not reveal the names of the players cause they said not to. Now.... they said that it only happened a few of times, but still............... ONCE is WAY more than enough. There is a difference between playing hard, with heart, physicality, than playing dirty. Just think about that and you will know what I am talking about.

  5. Keep an eye on the Freshman at Sullivan East. He played for the Tennessee Travelers last summer, he will light it up also once he gets acclamated to Varsity play.

I will check him out. Not thinking that he will be much of a contributor this year, but probably in the future.

  6. Yeah i know That would cool though if there were that many good players on a team. Seems to me like the teams are getting weaker each year. Each team has one or two good players if that now. If everyone would put as much effort into the game as the players use to then we could see a change, maybe a team from the big 9 could compete in the state tournament. Seems to me like most of the players today, not just basketball, but the other sports as well, only seem to be interested in what they are doing after the games. Interested in hanging out and partying instead of hitting the gym and working to get better. Just my opinion

Could not have been said better. Nice input.

  7. what i am saying about the enrollment is they have 2400 or 2500 students and most of the other schools in the conference have 1000 to 1300. they should have twice the talent to choose from. about the 7 big time players going agaist them, i don't think that any other school has that many big time players to compete agaist them!! the style of play is the only reason a few of the teams can stay close.

Just for the record DB is not over 2000 and nor is Science Hill. And besides that doesnt even matter. You just making up an excuse for your team. Which it is BOGUS! Thats all I am saying about that.

  8. What's a personal computer?

I would like to quote my favorite musical group Simon and Garfunkel by saying:

"I'd rather be a sparrow than a snail

Yes I would, if I could, I surely would

I'd rather be a hammer than a nail

Yes I would, if I only could, I surely would

    Away, I'd rather sail away

Like a swan that's here and gone

A man grows older every day"

Roxbury, agentorange, and twatwaffle...take life like an ice cube and chizzill. Do not worry if anybody knows how good you say you are...just prove it come playing time, nobody likes it when people brag...sillybillies...Acuna Me tada

And also just wanted to get it out there that Mr. Amazing is certainly a player as well or he wouldn't know so much about the other posters. So listen to your advice Mr. Amazing and get off COACHT. Leave it to the fans. We all straight now?

With all the hodge podge going around I wanted to clear something up before it gets started that I am not a player and like I said in an earlier post I am the father of a player that played for South's jayvee squad last year. But since my son doesn't play anymore I dont see any harm in me joining some of the conversation. Sound good?

By the way, was the song really necessary? And NO I dont care who your favorite musical group is. Get a life Amazing and stop calling out people..... though they DO deserve it........ It is uncalled for. And if you continue...... We will have to unveil YOUR identity.

  9. with the enrollment those 2 schools have there shouldn't be anybody within 20 to 30 points a game with them otherwise i would consider that a loss. i don't see why they aren't in another division like their football teams. then the whole conference would be open to anybody on a given night.

I kinda disagree with that cause all these teams are in the same conference for a reason. Cause they are all roughly the same size. But its whatever. Ya still gotta play the game.

    fan of ALL

  10. This years Dobyns Bennett team is MUCH better than last year's. No reason to go into why, cause if you wanna know then look back at many of the previous posts. Yes, Maryville is a good squad and Bearden as well. But that's all that conference has to compete with DB and SH. Yes, Bearden has a great inside game but they have NO guards that can compete with DB's set. Maryville on the other hand DOES have the guards to compete with that of DB, BUT they DONT have the posts to beat them. So I personally think that DB will be able to beat them. Now OBVIOUSLY they would be close games. No team is just going to stomp over the other. But I think that when DB needs to score they will with there very good offense (we will find out if it is under the category of great with they start to play games, so as for now just very good) and when they need a stop they will cause they have one of the best defenses in the EAST. Especially considering they have the best defender in the BIG 9 with Sylvester. Then the post have great height so if you get your shot off you just gettin one chance. But think what you want to cause we will all find out here in about 5 months when DB faces off against Maryville at home and Bearden faces off SH @ Bearden. Winners go to State.

Just my thoughts on it. And in regards to the whole fact about player's posting about themselves let's not jump to conclusions unless we know, cause that could hurt a player's image when that certain player has done nothing wrong. So let's just lay off of that. Thats my 2 cents about it.

  11. Well, Powell beat D-B in susbstate last year and I find it hard to believe that D-B will be better losing Throp, Sensabaugh and Williamson (I think). Powell should be pretty good again this year. Bearden has great inside game. Oak Ridge has almost every one back from a talented team. And, don't forget Maryville. They are, after all, the defending state champions with numerous players back from that team.

To be honest, I think any team from Region 1 will be lucky to get to Murfreesboro.

Well if you are going to be honest then I am going to be honest as well. So lets just get to the point. You apparently post a lot like your name cause you KNOW NOTHING. Dude we are talking about THIS YEARS team. Not about who got beat when last year. Or who won it all last year. We are talking about how it is going to play out THIS YEAR!!!!! And next, YES!!!!!!!! This years Dobyns Bennett team is MUCH better than last year's. No reason to go into why, cause if you wanna know then look back at many of the previous posts. Yes, Maryville is a good squad and Bearden as well. But that's all that conference has to compete with DB and SH. 12. Albright will surprise you. And I would put Adams in there, but he plays more of the 3 man I always thought, thats why I left him off the list. And I forgot Turnbull too. But Albright will surprise people, and I will never jump on the Flack bandwagon.

Yeah I think that Flack is pretty bad for his height considering the competition he should dominate each game NO MATTER WHAT! He fades away on guys that are shorter than him and doesn't finish strong around the basket. But he IS 6'9 and will get some big point totals just because of that. Therefore he will score around 15 points a game. Then with his height he will get high rebound totals. He would still kill Albright. That dude is like 6'3 and is goofy. 6'3 is a guard for a team like DB. Albright might play alright against Crockett, East, and Volunteer where they dont have much size. But in comparison to Edwards, Hardy, Gray, Flack, Turnbull, and Adams (though he is a 3 mainly, he will play in the post a lot cause he is the tallest player for SH) He will not have a chance.

  13. Maybe he was just on when I watched him. He made us pay for leaving him open though.

Alright, fair enough. I have personally never seen him shoot well from outside. But, I will give it to him that he cant get to the basket and is a good leader for them. Also good passer.

  14. 1. Isaac Snapp, can shoot off the dribble, off a screen, and with a defender on him.

And then, in no particular order.

Jason Rock- Interesting shot, but if he gets his feet set, I always expect it to go in.

McConnel- Did see the game where he hit 8 three's. Still wanna see how confident he is in a varsity game though.

Keith Cradic-Streaky shooter, seems to make everything in the 4th quarter.

Corey Young-Don't leave him open, makes TN High go.

Young is a really good slasher but not a great shooter. Just my opinion. He is what makes Tenn. High go though. Doesn't get to use his great on ball defense as much because they run that zone.

  15. I guess you must have missed the state tournament last season. He was the tournament MVP. I think he hit 6 3's in the championship. I think his name should be mentioned with East Tennessee's best.

Oh I know he is a good shooter, but he came in and said "pretty good" I just wanted him to clarify that we were talking about THE BEST. Not just some of the good ones. Yeah Damron is good, dont get me wrong.

  16. My list in this order.......

    1. Jordan Edwards

    2. Ashlon Adams

    3. Bronson Flack (not that good but he is 6'9 and also the rest of compet. is not very good)

    4. Dionte Gray

    5. Tenn. High post cant remember his name

    6. Kyle Barnes (East)

    7. Marshall Hardy (DB)

    8. Mason Canty (Tenn. High)

    9. Darren Riggs (DB)

    10. Central Kid about 6'7 no skills but he is tall and he will have a couple of big games

  17. Jordan Edwards-DB

    Kyle Barnes-Sullivan East

    Patrick Albright-Sullivan Central

    Dionte Gray-Science Hill

Not necessarily in that order, but I would guess those are the 4 that will be on first and second team all conference at the end of the year.

I like the other three and even would keep Barnes in there......... but PLEASE NEVER EVER put Patrick Albright in the same category as Jordan Edwards and Dionte Gray. PLEASE he will get his lunch eaten by those guys each and EVERY game. He has no chance. Let's get real now. There are guards in this conference that are better at post than him. Come on. I know you a Central guy......... but WOW!

  18. The other 7 teams in the Big 9 should cancel practice Monday. Just let SH and DB go ahead and play the Region 1 Championship game!

I agree none of the other teams have a chance to beat DB and even Science Hill. So who is coming in 3rd?

If anyone beat either team in substate...who could do it?

There is nobody that can play with DB out of the other region. Bearden would come the closest and they are not deep enough. If Bearden played Science Hill it would be close but I think that SH is too athletic. SO NO!!! There is no team that can compete w/ EITHER of these two teams.

  19. Jason Rock from Central shoots the 3. If he hits a couple in a row you better make sure someone is in his face the rest of the night,or he will send you home crying.

    Go Cougars!
