  1. Orville doesn't want it is what I was told, he is staying with the middle school, although I agree he would be great. The other candidate ( I was told ) is Corey Butcherelli ( spelling? ) he had the JV boys a couple of years ago. Think hes at Charlotte Middle School now.

I know the team wants Coach Moore, and I, along with most of the community feel the job should go to Moore because hes in the system, and is a proven winner. HC policy is suppossed to be move in the system before hiring outside, but that only applies when admin feels its what they want.

We have the makings of a good ballteam this year. I hope this doesn't ruin it. I really can't say what the reaction will be from the team.

Whats Trotters record Grendal, and how long has he been coaching?

As a S'town fan, I hope that he doesnt go.

    Here is what I know.

Just finished his 11th season at S'town. Went over 200 wins two years ago, I think.

Made 3 or 4 State Tourn app. - including this season where team lost to Temple in State Semi finals.

His teams play hard and fast and are fun to watch.

  2. How does a Mr. Basketball not win MVP of his own district... Just throwing that our there... I hear the 6'7'' cat for Collinwood is good... maybe he should have been up for it instead... just wondering...

Don't go there Mtownballer - coacht has done shut down one thread that started innocently but got really negative.

Congrats to both teams last night - great game to watch. the fans got their monies worth. Congrats to Collinwood on the victory.

Good luck in the region to all.

  3. As a Summertown basketball fan - let me first say congratulations to all the nominees.

I want to especially congratulate Wes Long. Being named a Mr Basketball finalist is a big honor. Summertown is very proud for him.

Secondly - I am sure there were many deserving canditates that did not make the final three. The voters evidently thought Wes was a worthy candidate. I am not going to get on here and defend Wes being chosen as a finalist.

We all have opinions that we are free to express. So please talk about why your player deserves it and not why someone else doesn't.

  4. Obviously you do not know much about our upcoming team. Yes, the Rice boys are big players for us but we have some young kids that will step up this year...saying t.rice is pretty good?? he hung 35 on yall last year as a freshman at our place...But I will agree with you that Summertown on paper should be 12a champs..I hope we prove that wrong, but hey I love a good ballgame. Good Luck 12A! GO WILDCATS!

waynecofreak - I can assure you that Summertown has lots of respect for Wayne Co. and Tyler Rice. Please do a little investigating and you will see that superfly14 is a Lawrence County High School player and not a Summertown person. Other than the post on this thread, all of superfly14's other posts are related to Lawrence Co High School and district 8AAA.

  5. A huge congratulations goes out to Moore Co. They played very well and really wanted this victory. This team has really matured into an excellent TEAM. Not one player from Moore Co. is jealous of another. They play a hard, physical up tempo game and they get after people. Culleoka looked like a prize fighter with a glass jaw. Moore Co. hit them hard early and Culleoka was on their heels the rest of the night. Williams let the physical play get into his head, while his teammates shied away from any contact.

Moore Co. wanted this game more than Culleoka. MCHS has had something to prove all season against Culleoka after last year's tournament. I believe that this is a total role reversal from last season.

Moore County has won 3 out of 4 meetings and without a doubt are the better team this season. I enjoy watching Moore Co play, unselfish, fast and hard.

Anyone have a list of the Region Tournament team ?

  6. Summertown has this one in the bag. I don't see MP holding a candle to MC either.

Nothing is in the bag - Summertown fans don't think this way nor do the players. The game with Cornersville will be a very tough hard fought battle.

Cornersville is a very good team that is extremely well coached. Summertown won at Cornersville the very first Hall of game by 20, but the game was much closer than the score as Summertown was only up 2 at the half. Both teams are much improved from the earlier match up.

The results of the Region 6A girls game tonight should show everyone that anything can happen. I bet there is not one person outside of Lynchburg that gave the Moore County girls a chance at Collinwood. Summertown girls went to Richland and almost pulled it off for the second year in a row.

Nothing can be taken for granted.....

  7. that would probably only happen if it were the championship game......I think wood and boro are prob in opposite brackets.....usually 1 and 4 go opposite of 2and 3......which would mean collinwood and mt pleasant in one bracket and boro and summertown in the other It will be tough for any 12a team to get to the final (supposedly, but we will see)

In the Region 6A Bracket -

On one side Collinwood will play 11A #4 and Wayne Co will play 11A #2

On the other side Summertown will play 11A #3 and Mt Pleasant will play 11A #1.

Collinwood and Wayne Co will be in one bracket and Summertown and Mt Pleasant will be in the other.

  8. Collinwood dominated the district tournament in 12a for the second year in a row

Collinwood won last night and deserved the Tournament championship, but dominate is a little strong.

Summertown 's record the last three seasons vs district competition.

This season 2007-2008 -- 16 - 1 only loss last night to Collinwood. Season champs / tournament runner up.

Last season 2006-2007 -- 15 - 2 lost to Collinwood and Mt Pleasant. Co season champs with Collinwood / tournament champs.

2005-2006 -- 16 - 1 only loss to Wayne Co. Co season champs with Wayne Co / tournament champs.

Last three seasons 47 - 4 -- Three season championships and two tournament championships.

  9. I do agree summertown is strong but i dont see how there by far the strongest in the region...they have already lost to both culleoka and moore co.oh sorry for the mixup...i actually dont have the authority to do that so the tournament is still scheduled to be played /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

    My thoughts--

Four teams from 12A will be; Summertown, Collinwood, Wayne Co and the winner of Mt. Pleasant / Perry County.

Four teams from 11A will be; Moore Co, Culleoka, Cornersville and Richland.

  10. I think MC and Cully will play for the region title but Summertown has a shot of knocking off either team. I think they will win District 12A hands down. Where is the region tournament being played after the first round home court advantage? MC, Cully, Cornersville, and Richland will come out of 11A. Summertown and Collinwood will come out of 12A for sure. I think the rest is a toss up. Mt. Pleasant and Wayne County can probably play with most teams on any given night.

    Region is at Mt Pleasant..

  11. with district tourneys ahead whats gonna happen...whos hot from d12...whos coming to the region....culleoka and moore co. are absolutely on fire right now...can anyone step up to challenge these two in district 11....can anyone stop summertown in district12?

I thought the Region 6A tournament had been cancelled. You have already handed Moore County and Culleoka state tournament berths.

  12. summertown is leaps and bounds better than everyone else in district 12...but culleoka and moore co. won by 9 and 7 respectively....richland beat wayne co. by 3 and lost to collinwood by 8 i think early in the year but cornersville avenged a loss by beating collinwood....perry co. got slaughtered by culleoka early in the year...

i think richland is a better team than cornersville but in the end i think richland will be a 4 seed....i think richland has the ability to beat a summertown because of the style they play....regardless of if that upset happens...i think if the top 4 were to matchup from each district i believe district 11 would make a sweep...look at it this way

culleoka vs. summertown-...culleoka has already beat them by 9

moore co. vs collinwood- i think we could all agree moore co. is the far superior team

cornersville vs. wayne co- you could almost go either way but i do think cornersville is a team whos playing with a lot of confidence and in a close game id take the bulldogs

richland vs. perry co.-i think its pretty obvious perry co. is weak this year...richland big

thats how i feel and i know it was an enormous post but i did what i could to break down my thoughts /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

    Not a bad thought process.

Culleoka did beat S'town by 9 @ Culleoka. How much is home court worth ?

Collinwood is 2 and 1 vs Cornersville and Richland with another game yet to play vs Richland.

Moore Co beat S'town by 7 @ Culleoka at Christmas.

Wayne Co has gotten much better since Christmas only loosing twice, both to Summertown.

Granted Perry is down some, but don't count out Mt Pleasant come tournament time. They have been behind due to football. Don't be suprised if they have it together by tournaments.

Don't get me wrong Culleoka and Moore County are the clear favorites here, but nothing is a sure thing in a one a done game.

  13. summertowns a pretty good team...but that district is pretty weak this year...i wouldnt be suprised though if summertown wins district that the 4 seed from district 11 jumped up and beat them

Culleoka Rep - what are you basing your 12A is weak opinion ? and that you wouldn't be suprised if the 11A number 4 would jump up and beat 12A #1 ?

  14. Summertown travels to Collinwood on Friday night for their 2nd meeting of the season. Right now,Summertown leads the district by 2 games over Collinwood and Wayne Co. Wayne Co still has to go to Summertown.

Collinwood lost the first game @ Summertown by 5. How does everyone see this one going ? How do you see the district playing out ?

  15. How do you all think that Loretto will come out in the District this year?

I believe that if they get things together early and gel as a team then they will have a good shot at a very successful season. If their four returning starters from last year will get together early they could set the tone for the rest of the season.

In my opinion, Summertown will be more than just a rivalry game this year it will set the mark for their season. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

I agree that the Mustangs could have really good year if everything comes together - Why are you putting so much stock in the game with Summertown ?

  16. In region 6A - who can challenge ?

I know Cully and Moore Co are loaded again. Richand is poised to challenge as well.

Who else -- Collinwood should be real strong - Mt Pleasant still has Marco - Wayne Co young and talented.
