  1. 1) Where is he "transferring"? Sweetwater or Central?

    2) Why is there so much talk and concern for a QB that went 3-20 in a spring scrimmage against a single A team?

    3) I would be extremely surprised if he ended up at Central. Isn't that like selling your soul to the devil, as far as the Meigs faithful are concerned?

  2. Hahahaha!!!!!!

How in the heck is Morgan Co Sheriff's Dept and Morgan Co News paying kids and their families to go to Coalfield when they can't hardly pay their own employees????

And If they were... why not Wartburg? It is where the MCSD and MCN are located............

This is truly a classic CoachT post.

  3. Can a Kingston fan give me some information on when Perry Bailey coached there and what years he lead the Lady Yellow Jackets to the State Title. I was trying to find some information on it and was having trouble. It would be a great help. I am doing a story about him on his job here in Kentucky and was having trouble finding information about the state Championships he won in Tennessee. Thank you for any help you can give me.

I have only been living here for about 20 years, but I asked a neighbor-friend who has been here his whole life. He is 48y.o. , but he doesn't know that name. When would Bailey have been here? 50's, 60's, 70's?????? Freddie Paul Wilson was the first coach I knew of here @ RCHS.

  4. "went to Wartburg. Was not rehired"

Marcum would have been hired back at Wartburg Cheesefries, there are a lot of people around Wartburg that really liked him, unfortunately for Chad there was an equal number against him. I just think he wanted a chance to coach at the High School Level and didn't want to wait around. Had he stayed I think he would have been the coach at CHS right now, but that train has left the station.

    Good Luck Chad

So you are actually making my point of comittment. He was going to be hired back, and if he had stayed he would be the HC now? Yet he left.

Once again, it has nothing to do with knowledge of the game.........Just not the best answer/solution if Anderson brings him in.

  5. Marcum will be an asset to the Kingston Program. Tayler played for a team he coached a couple of years ago. It wasnt AAU but they played several local tournaments. I watched a bunch of their team practices and he knows what he's doing. I think Keith and him together will have a good chance at making drastic improvements. Its not fair to judge him based on the record at Scott County. From what I heard, once he got up there and started practice, several if not all the upper classman quit because he made them work for their starting positions. They didnt get their way so they quit. I think he did what a coach should do, if the players choose not to do what the coach says, put 'em on the bench. He did that and they chose to quit. If I remember correctly, the last couple of years he was playing Freshman and Sophomores. If this isnt correct, somebody please feel free to provide more details.

Here's my point. Many people have blamed the coaching for the causes of losing.

This coach was fired at Huntsville Middle, went to Wartburg. Was not rehired. Went to Georgia. Came back for whatever reason. Was at a Cumberland County school. Left there. Now is at Scott, had his own program and didn''t win many games. All of this in ten years. I don't want a journeymen coming in trying to solve this situation/problem. Has not a thing to do with knowledge. Has to do with COMMITTMENT. How committed is he if he has been so many places in so few years????? JMO

  6. SIMPLE OPINION FROM AN OUTSIDE OBSERVER TRANSPLANTED INTO KINGSTON.

BOYS AND GIRLS TEAMS LOSING TALENT SUCH AS SMITH, PARKS AND HOOD ARE HUGE. THESE ARE BASKETBALL PLAYERS.

    WHY ARE THEY LEAVING ?

LACK OF COMMITMENT BY COACHES AND INDIVUAL PLAYERS TO IMPROVE THE OVERALL BASKETBALL PROGRAM. THIS INCLUDES DURING THE SEASON AND THE OFF SEASON. HAS TO START WITH THE COACHES.

Most of the time it's for earlier playing time, specifically as a freshman.

Hood........can't say he wanted to play for a winning program, LC was not very good when he got there and is in a tough region. Would have played as a freshman at RCHS. I think father just wasn't comfortable w/ the situation.

Smith.......played considerable minutes as a freshman, I think even started most of the year.

So---maybe the grass is greener in their eyes.

Gentry quit. Asked to come back. Voted on by team and was not wanted back.

  7. Oliver Springs looks like the class of the district easily. The Knoxville news sentinel has them only losing Once this year to Midway. It also shows them hammering Kingston. Coacht.com shows Kingston hammering Oliver Springs. One is wrong and one is right.

Regardless, it looks like OS is competing with some of the best AA teams and killing A teams ( with excpetion to a strong Midway team).

OS could be a sleeper to make a push for the Single A Championship.

To play for the Single A championship?

I think that is a pipe dream, considering Midway can't win a game @ state as dominant as they were the last 2 years.

OS is indeed a solid team, but not state championship contenders.

Now, if you simply mean making it to state----yes. They got a shot.JMHO........

  8. Although Morton might have played post, I was always thought of her as more of a Small Forward/3. If memory serves me correctly, she was 5'8- 5'10. Sarah Trull was the post on that team that ruled the middle.

It has been nearly 20 years , but that's what I remember.

  9. I don't think that Roane County in general cares about girl's basketball like those on the plateau.

    Rockwood isn't very good

Harriman is getting better but still isn't a contender

    Midway is pretty bad

Kingston isn't even a threat to be competitive

O.S. is a great program that has all the tradition and players to support it, but if you take them out of the mix it is pretty bad!

I think it would take a massive overhaul to build roane co. up to the level that some of it's surrounding counterparts enjoy.

    Agreed.

Softball is the sport that most parents and girls want to play now. It allows slow, unathletic kids a chance to play and doesn't require a great deal of skill(pitchers excluded).
