Idk they will be good, all i know is half of them could quit and they would still be better than the team in this picture

    look wayyyyy in the back

what year is that picture from?

that was just one race, tallon. none of the mlk guys ran close to their PRs. the 1,2,3 finish is VERY possible. dont get me wrong. i certainly hope not. wont give the rest of us much of a chance. but its a definite possibility. no denying.

  2. Are you forgetting to look at the State results?

MLK will not go 1,2,3 next year

Loren Newsom was the highest finisher thats not a senior. He placed 5th.

no. i did not forget to look at the results.

    mlk will go 1,2,3.

i will put 10 schrute bucks it.

    (thats from the office guys)

  3. Sweet. I don't remember ever hearing about any championship except our track one a few years back.

Wasserman is not going to run 1:55...haha. Probably 2 flat or 1:59, but anything sub 1:58 is out of the question.

edwards, edwards. havent you been listening? he's already done 1:58 on hills. barefoot.

  4. Mahaney said he wouldn't. Wasserman laughed cause he knows he probably will run 1:55.

that'd be quite a drop from wassermans 2:01 at state last year. there are not many sub 17 minute cross country runners that go sub 2 as well.

mahaney is too modest. i think it would not be too bold to predict him taking the triple.

in any case, the distance events will be strong this year and a whole lot of... fun.

  5. I don't specifically recall that on Steeple. Which meet was it? Also, even if that is the case, unless he was hurt, we are seeing some inconsistency in their 4 and 5 which could lead to their demise. Again, MLK has a good shot at taking the crown, I just think that Station Camp will be able to stack the gaps (there is also a gap at region from 17:57 to 18:25 for their 5) and beat them. MLK faces the same problem FRA faced last year (granted FRA did not have 3 people in the 16s, but had a very solid 1-4 and a suspect 5).

you will have to forgive me. contrary to my last post, the mlk 4 has not broken 17:20 at steeple but run exactly 17:20 on steeple.

pretty inconsistent but a huge threat if he can match his chickasaw time or even beat it.

  6. Correct he did. Their four ran a 17:57 at Region also (see my post on the results from Region 5-A/AA. They're stacked 1-3, but I wonder if a fairly large gap between their 3 and 4, and between their 4 and 5 could cause them to lose state. MLK is a great team, don't get me wrong, but it would not surprise me if Station Camp or maybe USJC (the stealth team that nobody ever knows about) slipped in and won the whole thing. The only reason I don't think Lipscomb would do it is because their 5 is also pretty far back, around an 18:13 or so. Their 4 isn't great, and they don't have the top three to compete with MLK (with the exception of Musick). Again, they are good, their 2 is solid, but not quite good enough to beat the top pack of MLK, especially considering that DL usually has a complete melt down at state. By the way, things get a lot easier in A-AA next year...Station Camp is too large to compete, so they should move to AAA I believe, and FRA is going Division II-A next year. My team predictions are as follows:

    1. Station Camp

    2. MLK

    3. USJC

    4. Lipscomb

    5. Macon County

    6. Dyersburg

    7. FRA

That 4th guy from MLK has also run sub 17:20 on steeple. region may have been a bad day for him. id count on a much smaller gap between MLKs 3 and 4 come state- and if that happens, there is not much that could stop them.

  7. everyone seems to agree mlk is the favorite.

if it were up to the top 4, mlk would be a sure win. problem is they go from having a 16:40-17:20 spread with their top 4, to having a 16:40-18:40 spread. in previous years an 18:40 could be anywhere from 30-40, to 70-80 points.

their weak 5th man could be the difference between 1st place and being somewhere else in the top 3 or 4. pretty much all of the contenders are relying on their 5th man to win it for them.

  9. so i dont think there were any surprises at the classic today except for mlk.

what happened there? their 16:30 guy turned into a 17:30 and their number 5 went from 17:40 to 18:40.

station camp won silver with jeff musik coming in 1st individually? i think?

    did usjc run today?
