Henry is a physical team but very slow, and looked even slower on that Munford grass last Friday night.

I see the Jackets kicking it deep and making Henry drive the length of the field, seeing what they really have and not letting them start every drive at the 50 or better. Plenty of holes in that Henry secondary.

Henry honestly looks slower as a team than they did earlier this season.

3rd Quarterfinals game for this very experienced senior class, think Henry will be surprised when they see this Springfield team at home in SPT playoff mode!

Springfield has more team speed but not an overwhelming amount.

HC has size and physicality. They will have to run the ball better against the heavy fronts than they did the last time around and get helmets on the LB’s that love to play downhill for the Jackets. I fully expect them to do that but I also expect Springfield to hit on a few coverage busts.

Looking forward to the game. Springfield fans have always been great. No idea how it ends. Would love to talk more ball but I do not think this thread is a good place for it. Good luck to the Patriots Friday night.

They think in the east you need a ring. So these towns sell their soul to the devil and go watch kids that didn’t grow up there play ball so they can brag on there all star team and act like due to geographic location east over middle and west Tennessee they are somehow more gifted. Then occasionally one will tell the truth and say things like we can help we attract the talent. Or we have a lawyer on hand that gets kids eligible to play. We’ve seen it all. The ones who know say we are just whining baby’s. And the others just keep their heads in the sand.

… as if HC has never had a kid transfer in for a better situation before.

  3. I rarely post and am not getting into this mess. It’s good to see some discussion though.

Dyer Co. has a lot to be proud of and excited about. With that said, HC has every right to be confident about this game. I don’t think the team is overlooking anyone. You don’t make it to the quarterfinals if you can’t play. No, not every single Patriots starter is better than anything that the Choctaws have. If that was the case, they wouldn’t be here. However, every single player has been here before, save for a few freshmen. Choctaws can’t say the same. I think it’ll be a better game than earlier this season, but I do like HC to win somewhere along the lines of 28-13.

Wow. Must have hit a nerve.

I too think HC wins and probably wins big. We're fans of the same team, lets take it easy.

My only point was about the post saying Kenwood had a receiver that must be pretty quick. No one said he would score or even catch a pass,,,, just that he was quick,

No i haven't had any coaches, players, parents message me. I'm not that close to the team, just a fan. I don't watch film on opponents so your one up on me there. I work and take comic relief breaks on CoachT. And your right, I have no idea who you are.

No, i don't get offended from a message board.

    GO BIG RED

I understand passion for the team and confidence, but it does seem the new guard of HC fans here aren’t as humble. I just sit in the shadows.

I love the passion and excitement, but these are kids playing this game. Nobody  on here is making a tackle.

The freshman has a chance to be decent. I do thing the athleticism and size were too much for him  ,,, they loaded the box and he couldn’t complete anything against man. And HC offense is not very imaginative either to. E honest. Maybe this fan base needs to slow down a bit on all their crap talking. I’ve listened to it for three years and haven’t seen them win yet.

We’ve got our share of overzealous fans, but HC has won a bunch of games the last 3 years. Ask almost anyone around the state about the HC fanbase, though, and they’ll be quick to talk about how friendly and passionate the fan base is.

Freshman will be better than decent, but did look like a kid starting his first game as a 9th grader. My issue with the offense isn’t a lack of creativity as the Patriots showed a lot of different formations. The fact of the matter is that every team HC faces will load the box like Haywood did tonight. I’d rather struggle with counters to that in week 1 than week 11.

Haywood 24, The Red Worm 20.  The last two years I witnessed a more talented HC team lose to Germantown- even at home where they NEVER lose. This Haywood team is more talented than Germantown those two years. Looks like someone might have you guys number.

You really think HC had a clear talent advantage against 6A Germantown? Deep down in your heart?

This will be a good game. I’m not going to pretend to have any idea how it will go, I just know that it will be a good game. Henry County has to be disciplined on the perimeter and keep Haywood from the big play. I like our chances if we can make them earn their yards.

That would be great!  Too many Championships (9) in this state!  Combine 1&2, 3&4, 5&6 with 2 DII games and let it fly ! Heck we’ve been beat bad but one thing we don’t do is run around whining & crying about every little thing!  Gotta get ya ahh a mancard there bud!

Being able to essentially recruit kids helps, but that’s neither here nor there. I’ve got respect for Alcoa. Enough that I don’t troll their threads.

Anyway, good hard-fought game. Hats off to Central. Looks like you guys have a good thing going up that way. Maybe we can meet up again in Cookeville some time again down the road

Great defensive line play by Knox Central, that is what won it IMO, HC does have the ability to throw the ball, they just didnt do it enough to get into any kind of rhythm. I get being run 1st but when they are stopping the run the way they were you have to throw the ball to open it up so you can run...

Having said that, great game and was fun to watch!

    Yep....

Starting to sound an awful lot like 2011-2013 around here......

    Sorry...

It’ll be a tough game. Tons of physicality and the weather has to help Beech if anything. I’m confident in the Patriots, but all it takes is a couple of early turnovers like last week and Beech could make us pay with 3 yards and a cloud of dust in the mud. I’m expecting a win for the home team, but it wouldn’t shock me at all to see Beech in it late with a chance to win.

  10. I’m past my days of writing long posts on coacht, but this will not be a blowout. As a Patriots fan, I wanted Beech instead of Hillsboro for matchup reasons, but this will be far from a cakewalk. Looking forward to an incredible atmosphere and a game full of nothing but effort and adjustments. Two great programs.

I agree! But it’s still unusual to go from straight up building your offense around your 2 most dependable senior leaders, who absolutely demolished the record book btw, to basically relegating them to spot duty when the games actually matter. I’m just hoping there’s not a lingering injury involved....

But hey, as long as we keep winning I don’t guess it matters. I love watching the “Phantom” and company wreak havoc on opposing defenses.

Think a lot of it has to do with game script. Parrish and Thompson hooked up for a long score early in the Kirby game and it seemed to open up the run after that.

I think it will be a great game. I think HC and NE are the best two 5a teams west of Nashville. HC has great talent and great coaching every year, plus they have 5a numbers in 3 grades. Heck I don’t think a Clarksville team has beat HC in like 5 years. But NE has everything to gain and nothing to lose by wining out, so that does make them a scary team.

All 4 grades count towards enrollment numbers. Freshmen just go to a different school.

No Disrespect to the 4 opponents that HC has played either (being that none of them are over .500) but this will be the best offense HC has played so far also. I agree with gbrpats however, with HC being too much to overcome at home, but a close game, and CHS does have the talent to play with and upset HC if HC does not play well.

I also find it interesting that HC somehow has already won the region and the playoffs and will make it to Cookeville. I think you will find NE is pretty good at their place.

Sorry, just not true. I’ve seen CHS and they’re nowhere near as explosive, physical, or talented as Haywood. No comparison. Sure, HC could lose this game. That’s why they play. But I’ll take the challenge of stopping CHS over Haywood any day. As another one of our posters likes to say, “just the facts”.

Also, we know NE is good at their place. Got our tail whipped there in 2012 if I remember correctly. Came back there for the semifinals the next year, painted the stadium red, and won by a very comfortable margin. I know some of our posters are overzealous at times, but no Clarksville school will ever scare us.

Patriots will kick it in gear this week. This, as far as I've seen, is NOT the Ridgeway of a few years ago. The big difference to these eyes, is in the trenches. The "old" Ridgeway teams had incredible Offensive and Defensive linemen. H.C. will dominate this part of the game. Ball control will be the name of the game and with the Patriots' O-line + running backs = victory.

Couldn't have said it better, Old Devil...It's time to "MAN UP"!

Don't know if I can agree 100% with this assessment. From what I've seen, they've got a very able defensive line, much like what they've had in years past. Their O-line doesn't impress me near as much, but it seems like Ridgeway has always tried to just get their biggest bodies up front to give their athletes enough time to make plays. Their power running game doesn't look as dominant as it did a few years ago, but if their stud WR is healthy we'll have our hands full.

Gonna be a tough first round game.

Germantown probably had something to do with HC not playing its best game. The Red Devils also did not play their best game and that was due to the HC group.

That sums it up pretty well.

It was a good game. As frustrating as it is to have lost our 3 toughest games by a combined 8 points, I'm hoping that the experience helps in the playoffs. Haywood, Beech, and Germantown are all great teams. What Henry County does in November is yet to be seen, but I feel pretty confident in saying that pressure won't get to them and there will be no intimidation factor. I'd like to think that the law of averages might dictate that we  pull out a close one when it matters down the road.

  16. Haters come when you win a couple of gold balls. Folks like these are why I don't post on here much anymore. As far as I know, both of yall's teams have seen their season come to an end as well.

Frustrating season, but we return a ton next year. Realignment should have us in a much easier district and allow us to hopefully fill out a challenging non-region slate. I know what the HC standard is in some fans' minds, but these boys have nothing to hang their head about. 2017 will be here before you know it.

  17. Whats toughest district in 5a and whats the weakest?

7 outside of HC and maybe NE is pretty bad. 1 seems pretty weak. Maybe one of the east TN folks can shed a little light.

I don't really see a loaded region, at least compared to what 6-5A was this year. Regions 4 and 3 will probably be the toughest in regard to quality of top teams.

  18. It's refreshing to actually talk a little football on this board.

I went back and looked at Central a little more. This should be a great game. I just think Brentwood's played a tougher schedule. Sure, 4 losses, but look who they came against...

I understand the Rossview game, but for reference, HC thumped Rossview 31-6 and then turned around and got beat pretty handily by Brentwood. Using the transitive property in HS football can be dangerous.
