  1. Ok here are a couple of other names for you to shred up but might be good. How about Offet at Northwest? Or Maybe Hugh Freeze who was just at Lambuth?

Arkansas State isn't a great job, but I think its a little more prestigious than HCHS in my opinion, so I don't think Hugh Freeze is legit. I'm not real sure who Offet is. My personal feeling is the leading candidates are: Counce SR., Ward, and Creasy. I believe it will be one of those three men. Purely speculation, though.

  2. look you can talk about all the state titles this state titles that and yea htown has been to more and never been mercy euled in a state game and ever since coach swenson left in 04 we weren't as physical or the head hunter mentality and im pretty sure mckenzie wasn't as physical as they were until a former htown player moved over there by the name of keegan ball and now coach swenson is back we are more physical than we have been in a while and to be quite honest wit you i hope the score is 108-0 htown and i hope swenson keeps the starters in because mckenzie wins 3 in a row and they think they are the best team in the nation i just don't understand im sure that deep deep down everyone in mckenzie still fears the blue and gold when they step on the field and might not admit but they do but what ever all im saying is mckenzie is going to be in for a real long night

I am not 100% sure but I don't believe any mckenzie player, currently on the high school team, has ever lost to huntingdon in football game going back to include middle school. This year is not any of those years but i do not believe their is any fear of losing from either team.

Whoa, there it is, theres that living on the past stuff again. Duckman, you better tell him the past doesn't matter.....right.........right?

  3. I am a Huntingdon transplant living in Middle TN and can't make it to the game because of a prior committment but I don't want to post to talk trash to McK fans. As I recall when I played that wasn't our style. Huntingdon fans should respect what they've been able to accomplish accross the creek the last few years - but believe me, you don't have to like them.

To the Stang players - believe me, we all know what this game means to alumnus like myself, students at the school, and the people of Huntingdon. I am sure you know this very well. I will just tell you this, in 2001 McKenzie beat us for the first time in I think 20 something years (not sure on the exact number of years so please don't crucify me for that) and it completely ruined my memories of high school football. No one game should mean that much that it can erase all the great memories, friendships, and bonds that were created - and it didn't erase them, but it definately tainted them. See, in '01 it was unheard of to lose to McKenzie, although they had a great team that year (Rebel fans will remember that talented bunch well) and we did - we lost the region championship to them that night. Our team never recovered and lost the following week to a very undermatched Harpeth team in the first round of the playoffs. Poof! - season was over, for some, careers were over.

So Stang players, from a former Stang, I want you to know that although this game is huge for you, its not just huge for you - its huge for an entire community in Huntingdon, a coaching staff I'm sure has killed themselves preparing for this game, your parents at home, and also for Huntingdon Mustang alumni scattered all over the state and nation. Go out there and don't leave any room for regret, be sure when you leave that field that you know in your heart that everything you had got left over there in McKenzie tonight.

It means just as much to our alumni and players!!! That's the part ya'll don't understand. Huntingdon never minded pounding us and guess it doesn't feel good when it comes back on you. Past don't mean squat. It's about the 30th. We may all be thinking about the past but, the here and now is what it's really gonna be. End of story.

No doubt it means alot to yall too duckman, otherwise it wouldn't be as good as it is. And I know the past doesn't mean anything when it comes to this year so just remember that when you or someone else from Mac Town gets ready to talk about the last few years. Cause hey, it doesn't matter right?

Since you thought the game was tonight, maybe you can clear your calendar for October 30th (actual date of this game) and attend. They kinda jumped the gun and started this thread a week too early.

Lol, thanks cascade11, well darn I wasted the good speech too early!!! Ha, I feel dumb. But maybe I can make it to the game now.

  6. Our problems are deeper than a wing t offense...we could not stop anyone on defense this year and if we needed a yard or 2 for a first down we could not get it...we fumbled in pre season and continued doing so throughout the season and it wasnt just 1 player doing the fumbling....CJ overton did some hard hitting but other than that we didnt hit anyone or fly to the football and when in the first half a team would run it down our throats to the right side no changes or adjustment had been made...during the course of the year we NEVER improved in any area we stayed the same the whole year...I would think a team would improve over the course of the year yet we never did...this years starters had very little playing time last year so we knew we would start slow but we stayed the way we started and never improved...

At RIVERDALE prior to coach A getting here we never had 5 lineman get scholarships for D1 yet he had that talent and did not get out of the qtr finals...if you ask any back they want the ball 20-25 times a game and if Dequinton Sherrill got the ball that many times you would actually be able to see his talent I really think he as the talent to be a very good back instead of running side to side let him get to the line of scrimmage quicker and let him get through the line he will make a lot of long runs... you can take average talent and make them good high school football players and Rankin did a good job of that there was only 1 team that he had that had as many D1 players as coach A had last year and that was the 94 team...that is what i mean about developing the talent...have you gone or watched a practice? players are standing around all over the place...

I LOVE MY WARRIORS and the kids i know know that i LOVE THEM i am involved with a lot at RIVERDALE and yet ive never seen coach A at a basketball game or a baseball game or anything how can you expect to get kids to come play for you when you are not ivolved with the school yourself?

Again, its hard to argue your very well placed arguments - and again all of your points were correct. I was just simply stating that the "Wing-T" system wasn't the problem. And both you and LOD have agreed with that I consider all of our points made. And yes, I saw SEVERAL practices and every game a year ago but I havn't seen any this year so I can't comment on the situation there, only the offense, which I do know well having seen it for years.

  7. I have no "inside info" or "reliable sources", however, I think Joe Gaddis makes perfect sense. I expect him to be back there - which is bad news for Patriot fans but judging by how bad he wanted the job last time it was open, I don't see him passing it up. And, as far as the administration goes, I think they will get over their problems with him because he is a proven program builder - which is EXACTLY what they need right now. Rankin isn't going anywhere except out of state one day or to a private.

  8. My biggest gripe is the almost total LACK of DEFENSE! I do not care what form of offense you run if you can't stop the other team from scoring you are going to LOSE!

This lack of knowledge about DEFENSE was really bad this year when Coach A made the QB coach the DC! That is not lack of talent, it is just plain stupid and was ONE persons decision and it was not the players. This lack of knowledge first came out when even Coach A had admit to and take the blame for blowing the lead at McCallie!

Things have been going downhill every since!

Are we the fans suppose to be happy about it? Are we just to sit on the sidelines and say nothing?

    AIN'T HAPPENING!

Cannot argue with you at all there LOD. I was shocked when I heard who had been made the DC. From my understanding there wasn't even an interviewing process to find one. Was that the case? If so, that IS disheartening for Warrior fans. I am sure there were applications from qualified people, or at least I would THINK there would be considering its RIVERDALE.

  9. Look, there is no doubt that things have gone down. And I have no doubt that Coach Aydelott should shoulder some of the blame. But you guys are getting a little out of hand here. I keep reading LOD's and others posts complaining about the Wing-t. Well, having seen many games and knowing the wing-t system, what you guys run is not the wing-t through and through. Go watch a Goodpasture game if you want to see textbook Wing-T. You do have some wing-t principles in your blocking schemes and occasionally you run a "traditional" wing-t play. However, what Aydelott runs the most (in every year up to this year - I did not get a chance to see any games this season but I did in the spring) is option stuff. That system is based largely on the system that Paul Johnson uses at Georgia Tech.

I said all that to say this, the argument about the kind of offense he runs not working in "the big bad 5A" and its success being a "theory" is pretty ridiculous in my opinion. That system he is trying to run almost won Georgia Tech (who was terrible in the past) the ACC title. Now look, do his teams make WAY too many mistakes, sure. Is there a lack of discipline? IMO, from what I've heard, yes. Are these fireable offenses - if you say so. I don't have a beef with you guys not liking those things - but the offense he runs is not the problem. What you're doing essentially is sabotaging anyone who may want to run that system (and could be successful with it) after A is gone. Just because Rankin's stuff won you 4 state championships doesn't mean that he runs the only offense that can win at Riverdale. Just my 2 cents.

  10. I will braek it down for you in ONE WORD why the East half of state dominates:

    CCCCCCOOOOOOAAAAAAACCCCCCCHHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    THATS COACHING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mmm, mm, mm. Get ready Tadvols, your about to get bashed.

  11. There is no middle. The state playoffs are divided into east and west. Look at a map and cut Tennessee in half from top to bottom. That is roughly your east and west divider. Logistically you are right.

I'm pretty sure when this post was started, the poster was assuming Tennessee's three grand divisions, not east and west brackets in the playoffs.

  12. Well every year I go to the championship games I am amazed at how much the middle and east tenn teams' administrations and fans care about football. There are some west tenn teams that do have very good support but I feel there are not that many. I am from Memphis and I was shocked when I saw two city school coaches there this weekend. They were there to probably see Mitchell but they were there. In Memphis administrations hire there friends who may not be the most qualified for the job and there for run programs into the ground. My best friend's cousin is McDaniel from Oakland he has gotten so much help from the admin, parents and fans. You don't see that here in West Tenn unless you are in the rural areas like Milan or Dyersburg. Rural areas it seems like are the only ones who care about football. Also what gets me is the arrogance of most coaches in the city of Memphis who think they no everything and are not willing to learn new things. Very rarely do you see them at clinics or camps. Now I am not saying ALL coaches in the city of Memphis are like that but it a stereotype that the rest of West Tenn and maybe the state has developed. I guess we can just keep using the excuse "at least we play the best basketball." Congratulations Mitchell and Milan for representing West Tenn!!!

In my humble opinion, I think its safe to say that Memphis and rural West Tenn are two totally different animals and I don't think they should be classified together. Most people in rural West Tenn don't really claim Memphis as West Tenn - its just considered Memphis. Milan, Camden, Huntingdon, Martin Westview, etc. etc. always dominate in 2a whenever those teams meet Memphis teams in the playoffs. As far as West Tenn's failures in the championship games, that is hard to explain. I just think that the only places that take their high school football seriously and support it unconditionally are rural areas in West Tn.

Also, the rural areas in West TN have no major cities from which to draw athletes. What I mean by that is that these high school kids' parents have no reason, industry wise, to move to these communities - most just make do with kids from that area and whose parents were raised in that area. Of course there are exceptions to this rule in West Tn and I would imagine several Alcoa or Maryville players were raised in those communities over in the east. But, there are probably some players at those two schools whose parents moved to those communities for industry in Knoxville. And middle tn schools that are constantly successful are usually in good proximity to Nashville.

I certainly don't think this is the only reason, but I do firmly believe that population and industry do have alot to do with it.

  13. I want to say that this team played their hearts out and they all should be very proud of themselves. We didn't get outplayed during this game we were clearly out coached. That's great that the coaches are nice and good teachers but if they can't break "tradition" and try running a different offense at some point in time, we will never get past the first or second game in the play-offs. The offensive coordinator should be fired. If he can't look at game film and see his mistakes on the last two games then Camden doesn't need him anymore. Everyone in the stands could clearly see the running game wasn't going anywhere and it seems like we have plenty of competent receivers so PASS THE BALL! The few times we did pass it we scored. But not Camden, keep pounding it up the middle with guys that are 5'7" and 150lbs. At some point the coaching staff needs to see the light or the program will stall out lilke it has started to do towards the end of our season. This same thing happened in Henry Co. a few years ago and then they got a new coach and look at them now. Everyone makes mistakes including coaches, but lets learn from them and then do something about it.

I'm sorry but you are a complete idiot. You obviously don't know anything about coaching football. You want Camden to air it out huh? Well if they would have done that, they would have been beaten by three scores by Fairview. It isn't their game, it isn't what they do. I have been around West TN football for a long time. The problem with Camden was always that they didn't have any identity offensively. At least with Coach Blow's system, there is an identity. RUN THE FOOTBALL!!! That is the identity of the Camden Lions. Run the ball, and play great defense. They did both to the tune of a 9-1 record and a third straight region championship.

Another thing Camden football used to lack was toughness, this staff has brought a toughness never seen before. These last few teams have been nasty on the field (between the whistles) and classy off of it. Camden football was nothing before Ward and his great staff got there, and when he leaves - it will be nothing again IMO.

The bottom line is, and some Camden fans will hate me for saying it, but Camden was overblown all year. I saw them play in several games - I just didn't think they were as good as advertised. They had some issues, IMO, at some key positions that make it tough for you to win. What is good about the whole situation is that Camden fans are starting to expect more - that is always the price to pay for success. However, you must be understanding that you live in a rural community and get to pick from whatever grows up in your neighborhoods and city limits. You are not Goodpasture, CPA, etc. where you can hand pick your players. You are not Alcoa - with open zoning so kids can come to your school from wherever. You are Camden, you have to make do with what you have year in and year out and 9-1 is a great season, maybe short of some fans expectations. But go ask Coach Ward if he thought he was getting to Murfreesboro this year, I bet his answer would be no.

  14. I may be a little late with my point, or it may have already been made on another thread, but wow did Milan get a good draw or what? They have Booker T who they beat by 50 in the first round, Westview is likely in the 2nd round - I saw Milan dismantle them last week, and either USJ or JCS in the quarters. So essentially its the third round before the Bulldogs might even get tested - if then. It is just kind of rare to see that good of a draw for a one seed in the new 2A playoff system. I remember when 2A did playoffs like everyone else, this was actually quite common - but now it hardly ever happens.

1 Seed Lewis County has Waverly, then likely Goodpasture in the 2nd round.

1 seed Boyd-Buchanan has DCA in round one, then either 7-3 2A power Tyner or 9-1 Westmoreland in round 2

1 seed Alcoa had Cumberland Gap in round 1 and likely 9-1 Gatlinburg-Pittman in round 2

I think it would be VERY hard to argue that Milan didn't get the best draw out of all the 1 seeds. Looks like they are set up nice for a great run!

  15. They actually finished 3rd in their region. All that should change with this new plan. I may drive up there to Milan one of these weeks because I have always wanted to watch a game of theirs but I coach on Friday and live in Memphis also. I used to drive through there on the way to Mckenzie and it reminded me of the movie Friday Night Lights with the paintings on the stores supporting the team and such.

You are right, I forgot about the wild card thing, so yes BTW did finish 3rd. And you're right, I have seen football games all over West and Middle TN and Milan is truly a cool place to be on home Friday nights.

  16. today is the day 10 hrs and counting till the beatdown gonna go with milan 56 to 6

Milan will dominate this one from start to finish and win by whatever score they want to. How is it acceptable to be 2-8 as BTW is and actually be in the playoffs? I mean I know it is because they finished 4th in their region, but it's a little bit ridiculous.

  17. I don't belive Bruceton has ever had a season as bad as this one. I just hope these coaches that call themselves coaches lay in bed at night thinking at how horrible they are. My son plays for Bruceton. He has played since 6th grade and said that next year he does not plan to play if they are still allowing the same coaches coach. I know there are better coaches out there. We have them here in Bruceton, you don't have to look far. I have attended a couple of the Jr Pro games to watch a family member and these coaches are teaching these kids they way they were taught by McGee & Sturdivant and they are taught this way right up until their freshman year and then these other coaches think they are so great and can do so much better, but obviously it it not working so why not take you and your families and leave this town. No one wants any of you here. Go back to JCS or USJ whereever you came from, but I guess they don't want you either. They seem to be doing better since you left. And for the other coach, well I don't think you could find a job anywhere else much less a coaching job. IT'S TIME FOR A CHANGE BRUCETON.

Do we want this kind of year again? Or do we want to keep Bruceton football here. If theirs not a change we will not even have kids come out to play football here.

1-9 or 0-10. Whats it going to be.

You are not the first I have heard say this tigermom, and it is a shame how far Bruceton football has fallen. I'm a West Tennessee transplant to Middle Tennessee and I am very familiar with the tradition and pride Bruceton football has always had. I know you are frustrated, but don't you think it might be better to voice those concerns to an administrator or school board member rather than on CoachT? Those coaches have kids and they may be reading this thread. I don't know, what you do is your business and I am not trying to tell you what to do, I'm just saying there may be more harm than good done by talking about this on here. Just my opinion.

  18. I must say, I have no dog in this race as far as this game goes, I just wanted to let all you guys (Cascade and Jo Byrns fans) know that this is impressive. I mean this thread is fifty pages - FIFTY PAGES!!!!!! Either the unemployment rate in your respective towns is very high or you guys all just REALLY love your football. Either way, congratulations on the outstanding committment by both fan bases; it is something amazing.
