  1. There are good points being brought up but the bottom line about my previous statement regarding Hickman County dropping a classification and benefiting from it is entirely accurate. Hickman County would have finished 6th had they stayed in 11-AAA behind the likes of (in order) Hillsboro, Brentwood, Independence, Ravenwood, and Franklin. At best they would have split with Franklin thus possibly coming in 5th. Either way they do NOT make the post season, much less sub-state. I understand the supportment for them but please be realistic for 2 seconds!

do i sense some hatin' going on? i think you are just a little sorry we got to Coach Barrett before someone else did.........by the way, he deserved Coach of the Year in the district .....anyone can coach a team loaded with talent like Marshall County.....just roll a ball out there....Coach Barrett is getting every ounce of ability out of each girl on a probably otherwise average team....if getting the Lady Dawgs to the Sub-State is not Coach of the Year material, I dont know what is

  3. I don't really think that the move down in classification has anything to do with Hickman's success. Hickman has played a very tough schedule this year, much tougher than they did in AAA. They are playing teams that have been sucessful for years with lots of tradition, unlike they did in AAA. If I am not mistaken, early in the season it was reported that Hickman had either the fourth or fifth toughest schedule in the state this year. Hickman started out 0-9 for crying out loud. You can look at their record and tell that their schedule has not been easy, they have just really come on late in the season. They are a completely different team than they were last year, playing incredible defense and very well conditioned. The offense has really opened up and everyone is involved. Also, only one or two non-district teams that they have played this year has ended up with less than 19 or 20 wins. Even though they have been in AAA, they never got to play the teams like Riverdale, Shelbyville, Wilson Central, etc. The girls have worked so hard and bought in to the new coach's system, and they have not been given anything, they have earned where they are at. So instead of blaming it on the move down in classification, lets just give credit to the hard work of these girls and look at the difference in their team instead of the difference in the teams they are playing.

    AMEN......

  4. I have never been a registered member of coacht, I have just always logged on to see the topics, but never had a desire to post. However, after reading Page Man's post, I could not resist. First of all, big Congrats to the Hickman County Lady Dawgs. I feel that it is very disrespectful to not give them the credit they deserve, they absolutely played their tails off last night. It has been a while since they have been successful and they deserve to enjoy this win without someone blaming Lewis County's loss on the officials. Calls were missed on both sides and good calls were made on both sides, as every night. Yes I agree that the foul called on #3 was questionable and confusing, however, it by no means determined the outcome of the game. The officials were letting a lot go on under the basket on both sides. Anderson and McKinney got away with a lot and even got away with the pushing and shoving going on after the whistle, on several occasions. BUT, the one thing that you are completely mistaken about Page Man, is Anderson's three-pointer at the end of the game. Brittany Powers played great defense on her, especially that particular play, she was straight up and the only contact that was made was due to Anderson falling and leaning into Powers hoping for a foul. Lewis County is known for their dramatic flopping, the only difference in last night's game was that the officials didn't buy into that. If I am not mistaken, the fouls were pretty much even and I think that Hickman County only shot 5 or 6 more free throws than Lewis County, which is to be expected since Lewis County pressed the majority of the night. However, I didn't really come on here to argue about officiating, I just want to give the Lady Dawgs the credit they deserve for playing their hearts out, WITH GOOD ATTITUDES AND SPORTSMANSHIP, and ending up with the victory.

    GO DAWGS

As a Lady Dawgs fan I want to say Thank You for your class....you guys always put a good product on the floor.....it just happened to be our night....glad we did not have to play a couple of more minutes.....

  5. Agreed. HC's players & coaches have never failed to show class and play the game the right way. All of Hickman County is extremely proud of this team and its accomplishments. Hope Coach Swenson and staff is around for many years to come. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

once again.....ditto.....well said.....there is not another team out there that shows as much class as the hchs bulldogs......i dare you to find another group of kids who from game one tried to pick up as many opponents off the field as our boys did.....that says a lot about the families of the players.....these boys were raised right

  6. I have been reading the message boards here for awhile now but i've never posted. And i thought that now would be the perfect time for my first post. Last night the Hickman County Bulldogs lost a very tough game to Goodpasture. (Congrad's to Goodpasture). I just wanted to say that i believe i can speak for the whole county when i say...I'm proud to be a Bulldog. Just like coach Swenson has stated. "We have 170lb lineman vs 250+ lineman. They may outweigh us...but we have more HEART". As far as Coach Swenson goes I know HC will do everything they can to keep Coach Swenson here. Our young men at HC showed great intensity, integrity, sportsmanship all year. They finsih the year 11-2 and made it to the third round of the playoffs. Instead of hanging their heads in defeat, they should keep their heads up for they should be proud. I know i am....

    ditto.....well said

  7. I am an avid Lewis County Fan an I am so sick of our fans getting on a thread like this and putting teams down. Hickman County had a great year and represented our region well tonight. They deserve to be bragged on at this moment instead of being put down. Lewis County fans should be ashamed of posting one negative thing about anyone. We had our chance and did not seize the opportunity like Hickman Co. did. I would like to tell all the people of Hickman Co. that they had an oustanding year and we are proud for them. I wish your game had turned out better tonight but there are very few teams that can boast about an 11-2 record. Good Luck until we play again next year and please overlook the classless posters on this vent from Lewis County.

good for you ezt51 - let me say for all of the hickman county fans that we appreciate your kind comments.....i know that most lewis county fans have as much class as you do.....lets admit, we all have a few bad apples here and there.....you guys had another stellar season and we were just glad to join you......lets hope this season begins another long run of hard fought games between both schools.....i think they should bring back the jug or whatever it was they used to play for years ago......just another little motivation to win this big game......again, thanks for the kind words

  8. And we don't care about Huntingdon. Neither does Coach Swenson at this point in time. All us HC folks are worried about is winning our next playoff game against Goodpasture. Guess you don't have that problem since "H-Town" is sitting at the house /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

    you the man ludawg

  9. hey h-town possy, quit beatin this dead horse......aint nobody around here care anything about what you think......apparently swenson didnt like it around yall or he would still be there......stop hatin and go eat some more turkey.....if we are lucky enough, the triptophan will put you to sleep and put all of us out of our misery of you crying

  10. by the way LC_Panthers_Fan......is that the best you can come up with? would YOU want to go to east? im sure they will be a good team in a few years but it aint happening any time soon, at least in football....Swenson is one of the top coaches in the mid-state.....i dont blame those kids for wanting to play for him.....he is a class act....winning the sportsmanship award two years in a row says something about a coach and his program....kudos to our seniors as well...many of them have played together since pee wees.....they have had their hats handed to them plenty in the past but now they are the ones handing out the lids....hope yours fit
