  1. >>Bud light presents Real American Heroes

    (Real American Heroes....)

    >>Today we salute you Mr. Correct the Grammar on a Message Board Guy

(Mr. Correct the Grammar on a Message Board Guy....)

While others are wasting time posting facts about high school football you come out to do the dirty work.

    (No rest for you now....)

Even though you are doing the posters a favor, you still catch flack for catching every mistake.

(Was that a mistake that was just made?....)

So crack open an ice cold bud light Mr. Correct the Grammar on a Message Board Guy, because there is only one thing I know for certain in this world, and that is where would the English language be without you?

(Mr. Correct the Grammar on a Message Board Guy.......)

    Go Peabody http://www.sweetim.com/s.asp?im=gen&ref=10

    Good one.

I took some shots two weeks ago for correcting a poster on the spelling of a word so I can appreciate the humor.

    This is a classic.

  2. alot or a lot

Perhaps this common spelling error began because there does exist in English a word spelled “allot” which is a verb meaning to apportion or grant. The correct form, with “a” and “lot” separated by a space is perhaps not often encountered in print because formal writers usually use other expressions such as “a great deal,” “often,” etc.

You shouldn’t write “alittle” either. It’s “a little.”

    Cougar!

    Is your real name Skippy?

Now, share with us the etymology of the Bible or the student handbook at GP.

I want to make sure your mom and dads money for that private education went to more good than to make you a self-important snob.

  3. You need to get your facts straight skyhawk. That was westtnstate04 that said that. The last time i remember ALCOA was in east not west tn. Just to let you know we don't take any one lightly. DCA is a very good team and we need to come out strong. So know one is overlooking them but they will have to play really good on defense to have a chance friday night. Just wanted to clear that up since someone doesn't check any facts!~

My bad. I just knew someone had assumed Alcoa's win.

Should have checked who said it.

  4. lowery of CPA did give goodpasture trouble 2 weeks in a row

he ran out of the shotgun similar to florida

does the peabody qb run that or just scrabbles?

Peabody is a 'spread' team. Shotgun every snap.

QB has visited Knoxville twice this fall and Bama once, among others.

But, I keep telling anyone that will listen, these guys ain't bad.

  5. Let me preface what I am about to say by first stating that I know that most Peabody fans are just like most Milan fans. They love their kids, their community, and their teams and support them in a positive manner - win or lose. This is not for you. This is for a pathetic few. Every year the Milan Booster club works hard to make and put out yard signs for the playoff games. At last count these signs stretch for over a mile and are placed so that he opposing team will see them when they enter Milan. Last year, after Milan defeated Peabody in the playoffs, some Peabody fans were caught trying to vandalize some of these signs on their way out of town. This year, after Peabody's victory, well over a dozen of these signs were stolen and dozens of others were damaged or destroyed. Contrast this with the fact that the Peabody signs placed on the Milan-Trenton Hwy were still there this afternoon and the signs the Peabody fans planted at Johnnie Hale stadium were still there this morning when the clean up crew came to clean up the stadium. Vandalism and theft does not speak well of your team, your school system, or your community. If you can't lose with dignity, then could you at least win with a little class? We have been doing the sign thing for years and, so far, Peabody fans are the only one's to conduct themselves in this manner. What an embarrassment you are to Gibson County and all of the proud programs that reside in this area. Instead of promoting your team in a positive way, you have placed a black eye on an otherwise great win. How can the rest of West TN support you further in the playoffs when you conduct yourself in this manner? Rest assured that future Milan teams will be reminded of your actions. If you really want to help support your team, then at least restrain your more criminal urges and act like you've been there before. IO know you thought your actions were cute, but all you've managed to do is to make Peabody folks look like a bunch of thugs and losers. I used to pull for Peabody anytime they weren't playing Milan. I don't believe I will be doing that again for a while. Go Goodpasture.

    Another, "congratulations, but...".

Can't anyone just say, 'congrats', and leave it at that.

You take the actions of a few and project it onto the whole community to the point of pettiness and in so doing make your community look like crybabies if we were to project your words onto all of Milan.

    It's just weak.

  6. I can guarantee you are not going to find the sportsmanship of each town on CoachT. If your looking for it on here, then your looking in the wrong places.

I have a dog in this fight, but I didn't play in it. I got my ring, and the last time I played Peabody we put 50 on them watching Rod Smith toss defensive backs down like fleas.

Good season Milan. Yet again, the games seem to be hard to close out.

I heard Harper claimed he was going to put 250 yards on Milan at a pep rally. Guess he fell about 100 short. Nice late hit out of bounds lick on Coleman too.

The rule needs to be changed on pass interference to the spot of the foul. I mean really with 10 seconds left and someone throws a deep fade I would drag him down too!!!..Heck, its only a fifteen yard penalty about 50 yards back! AND IT TOOK TIME OFF THE CLOCK!.....Ridiculous.

    Go Goodpasture.

Made some calls. Trenton did not have a pep rally this week.

No school either-3 days of intersession for kids that needed the work and then Thanksgiving and Friday off like everyone else.

    Also, no town rally.

Pass interference call was shaky at best.

Look, it was a good game and Milan lost.

Cheer for who you want but the players determined the outcome, no one else.

  7. I went to the game last nite ,and I saw film on the camden peabody game. Dont believe this one will be close..cougars win this on big

Camden-Peabody was a long time ago; week 1.

O-line much improved and this group has speed.

I am well aware of how good Goodpasture is year in and year out. But there are some teams that can play with them this year.

As a matter of fact the Camden/GP game was 4 TD's apiece. PAT's cost Camden.

Don't know who will win but this (Peabody) is a good team.

  8. I'd take him as a cover corner ANY DAY ! I beleive he could stay with most any wide out & also make them pay ! As a slot he would definitely be a dual threat ! .........and YES even at D-1 level !

A lot like Memphis uses Earnest Williams from Crockett; slot receiver and runs speed-sweeps and reverses.

  9. PEABODY IS GARBAGES AND THEY THINK HARPER IS GOOD ENOUGH TO PLAY AT TENNESSEE?? GET REAL ...MILAN IS A BETTER TEAM BY FAR!

Harper can play either D.B or Wide Out most anywhere ! And per the previous post....... they (Milan) weren't LAST NIGHT !

    Agreed.

He would be an excellent slot receiver at any level.

And he closes well enough to play DB.

  10. Best I can figure, since 1989 when Haney and Scott took the program as Head and Def. Coor., PHS has won around 115-120 games and lost around 90.

14 or 15 playoff appearances in the last 17 years and 1 Clinic Bowl appearance.

Before that era, PHS had 0 playoff appearances and were below or at .500 going back 35 years.

Not Milan, granted, but I've said before and will say once again, when those guys have something they maximize.

And, Goodpasture, having run the gauntlet of Trenton, Westview, and Huntingdon in 1996, and Milan last year, are well aware of the physicality of the ball down here and know they must be ready.

This is a much better place than it used to be, IMO.

  11. My intent with this post is not to open up an old argument but to make an observation on behalf of some players.

Kendal Harper is a great, great football player but that is not a one-man team. They have all the attributes of a team and several really good players.

  12. Pratt???? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> .....you are a funny funny kid. With H-Town moving to small ball in 2009 I don't think any big name coaches will be lining up for the job /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

When and if the Huntingdon job comes open they will be able to get a conversation with any coach they wish and a majority will be interested.

Facilities, support, tradition. Classification falls in line somewhere behind these.

Coaches want to be somewhere they have a chance to win. Huntingdon more than qualifies.

  13. The Week 1 match-up between Milan and Hunt. was irrelevant. Milan was without many players including the QB. The Trenton-Milan game earlier in the season was not irrelevant. Seemed to me that everyone was playing..

Wasn't irrelevant to Huntingdon. You play with what you have and then you go home.

Your point as to missing players, however, is a good one. Just doesn't make a win irrelevant. A less than 100% Weathers did not diminish Milan's win Friday.

  14. Trenton's list begins and ends with Haper.

That was a joke don't call pres. Bush on me. I don't anything about Trenton football before the late 90s.

Perry Hampton talks to the team once a year. I think usually Humboldt week.

I could go on and on with them too but I'll wait until tomorrow.

    I'm out tonight.

  15. That's a good list. Add P.A. Pratt, Jeff Smith, John Fisher, Rod Smith. I"ve seen every player since 76' and Earnest Fields was the best.

Can't resist; I saw P.A.'s name and instantly thought of Kevin Ward. Can't believe I forgot him.

He and Pratt are now junior John Tuckers.

  16. here's a list for all us older milan fans: johnny tucker, paul blankenship, david holmes, terry taylor, bill weems, bill bruce, larry utley, jojo woodson, john earl smith, perry hampton, billy ray dawson, james white, paul poole, george utley, robert sturdivant, tommy white, randy thetford, tim haney, lee fite, j.r. smith, stevie smith, kenny lee smith. somebody help me, i know i've forgotten some important names. can't forget the great JOHN WADE TUCKER who coached all these amazing athletes to 2 gold balls. man these names really bring back some great memories so come on guys this is what it's all about. FOOTBALL! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> name some great ones from peabody. one name probaly stands out for me and that is clifford scott who played back in the 50's. everyone says he's probaly the best running back to ever carry the rock for peabody. clifford is now the proprietor of c and g lounge in milan where he resides. talked to him the other day and he said he was pullin for peabody because this is the furtherest they've been in the playoffs in along time. said milan had there day and it's time for another town in gibson county to have there's. other than that he would be pulling for milan.

There you go. Late 60"s for Randy Farrell and Hal Holmes. Back to the 70"s for Michael and Terry Clark, Cecil Jones, Luther Smith, Tim Knight, Tim Jackson-all those guys were on the '77 Championship team.

Early 70's- Jeff Chandler, Alan Ford, and Randy Wheeler.

Tons of great players at both schools.

Wish the Trenton guys would throw in. I used to hang around years ago.

  17. My recolection begins in the late 90s ofcourse I do remember some of the older guys from stories. They show up from time to time and give the team a few words. Everyone knows Fisher and Fields. A couple of players on this year's team had father's who were great players for Milan from what I understand. Brian and Chris Bledsoe's father, Tim was a great fullback in the 80's. I've heard that Jabronski Gilbert's Dad was a hoss.

I'm a big UT fan. Bill Weems from Milan played 4 years for the Vols in the 70's.

I'm sure there are alot more. Milan won it all twice during that decade.

I didn't mean alot more UT players-just good H.S. players.
