  1. Man, it was a long way to that truck. LOL

I did go earlier, but wasn't sure whether to post a reply or not. The brackets listed on the back of the program I got last night at the tournament obviously have an error, so I wasn't sure whether I'd just confuse everyone.

They list the boys championship game as being played Sat. (last night) at 8:30 p.m. It was definitely not played at that time, because that was when Grainger and GP were squaring off in the late semifinal game.

Judging by the girls bracket, which has no mistakes that I see, I'm pretty sure that the boys consolation will be played Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. and the boys championship will follow at 7:30 p.m., since those are the starting times listed for the girls consolation and championship games on the previous (Monday) night.

    Hope that helps!

    Good luck Patriots!

Who are the best players for Union? What are the keys to the game?

  2. As much as I'd love to say everything posted is fact I can't. We will have a good ball team but class of the county? Come on now, we lose alot of our leaders and have alot of young players that will have to develop on both sides of the ball. I like what Mitchell has brought to the table as play caller for us now and think we will have a better mixture of plays next year. A good season next year will be .500 and possibly playoffs, I use to go in thinking "Hey lets go set the world on fire", but small gains and improvements are good enough for me now..

I think we've got young leaders that will get past three or four years of mediocre play. We'll keep improving the junior leagues and we will develop a great program that's bigger than all of us. Will we accept small gains or do we want to go out and dominate. Ferrell and company led our D and dominated some people this year. Our O was more multi dimensional as well.

  3. This year I have already driven 1500 miles just to watch 2 games. As a parent and having coached and been around sports all my life I can see a couple of the problems with the PF Tigers. You have to put players in the right postions to make plays for your team. PF has some good athletes, but if you don't put them in postions to help your team they are wasted. A '6 3" rec. beats a '5 10" db everytime.

Who are we wasting? And who is the 6-3 rec.?

  4. No matter what, I will support this group of young men win or lose. I have a feeling alot of these parents or other onlookers on here are not originally from the area and don't understand the rich tradition of football in Pigeon Forge. Granted we have not had the best win/loss record over the past few years but Pigeon Forge will always be a football first community, no matter how well the baseball and basketball programs do. Go Tigers!

    What does scheduling down prove????

Good reponse J-bo, but we do want basketball and baseball to win as well!!!!

  5. Im a Sevier County boy and trust me when I say that GP is the most hated of all the county schools over there so I'm its not like Im coming to their rescue here but, theyve been pretty good the last couple of years, something like 21-2, the only game they lost last year was to eventual 2-A champ Alcoa, and they have been DOMINANT in this region ever since they were reclassified. Its kinda like the way I am with Maryville, until someone in this region beats um, they are still the class, and have to disagree with the statement that a lot of 1-A schools could win this region, I think a lot of 1-A schools could make the playoffs in this region but GP is solid would be tough for most us smaller schools to handle, besides when you do make the playoffs in this region all roads go straight through TORNADO country any way so whats it matter. /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />

Some folks down here in the forge don't always say that but they do sometimes act like it. Why do you think that is?

  6. Our line will dominate GP's line. That is clear from most that have seen them play. Their backs and quarterbacks will have a long night picking grass out of their facemask. PF will get our first win. We will rock on offense against their tiny linebackers. Our boys are ready!! Have a great game guys!!

  7. Wow, it's really looking like GP now. PF had it handed to them Friday night. What's going to happen if PF loses to Cosby? Will they ask Hammonds to step down that very night? I wouldn't blame them if they did.

Lee will turn things around. He's a great coach. PF will be at home against the highlanders. We will stop their offense in its tracks.

  8. We have to put the ball in the endzone this weekend. Like I stated in the post about the Sequatchie game, we can't seem to score to save our lives. We had a drive against the 3rd string of Sequatchie late in the game on the 15 and can't hang on to the ball and they run it back, just dumb stupid mistakes are absolutely killing us. Hopefully the Tigers can pull out the win and get this season turned in the right direction.

We'll be OK. Lee will turn em around.

  9. Big win for Rutledge last night defending the home floor against G-P. Still a long way to go in the district, but that's a big one and it appears as thought the Pioneers are starting to get on a little roll.

We heard in Pigeon Forge that GP lost the game but won in fouls. A GP parent told me that the Refs called Rutledge on 6 fouls in the second half and GP for 18. Nowhere but Rutledge. The Forge will beat Rutledge with or without the Refs.

  10. We had to focus on one player ... McBee," said Placeres. "He's a fine player, and you've got to know where he's at at all times. I know he scored 22 points, but we did a good job finding where he was at and holding him to what he got. That was pretty good to hold him down to that."

This quote is taken from The Mountain Press and is from the GP Coach.

The quote speaks for itself and backs up my earlier statements.

The Forge will hold him. Grant Nichols will be all over McBee. You'll have to go back on line Rutledge Class of 02 and get some more quotes. McBee is a good high school ball player. So was his brother so I've heard from some reliable sources.

  11. Heard GP is working hard this week putting in some gimmick defenses to stop McBee. Of course I'm not there so I'm having to use the eyes and ears of others. From what I've been told one of those D's is to put a pretty good defender on McBee and attempt to hold him to average and shut down the other four. I'm sure this will be easier said than done. From what KevB1990 says not sure they can stop their post but understand they plan on rotating their posts so that they have fresh men guarding them. GP has used 7 different post so far effectively. What a luxury Coach P has to have 7 guys from a 5' 10" Soph, 3 6' 0" Juniors, a 6'5" Junior, and 2 6'1" Seniors that have all played effectively at times for him at post (yes a couple of these do play guard some) and getting better with each minute of playing time they get. Yes GP is legit 10 deep. Expect to see them all Friday night. Difference in the game could very well be GP's bench. Inexperience and youth has hurt them at times as seen against Karns. Look for this to change as those young guys get PT. Keep rotating them Coach P. You will see the rewards later in the season if not sooner.

Now to change subject a little. Granted Friday's GP-Rutledge game is a big district game but what about the rest of the district. How are they doing? Thougt CG should be a team to beat. Granted they lost a little more than I first thought but had a pretty good group of JVers last year. How bout it? Where are the rest of the district posters? We would like updates from you as well.

How much did Rutledge beat GP by? Someone told us that Rutledge won. Knew that they would with all that talent. Does anybody know what the final score was??

  12. No McBee isn't the whole team. Yes the other players contribute. No Auburn isn't flying up to watch the other players shoot it...

McBee is the most visible player on the squad much like when someone talks about Tennessee backetball it's Chris Lofton and Co. for the men and Candace Parker and Co. for the women. Don't make it out to be a complete selfish thing or something. He's the most recognizable name outside the immediate area.

And I doubt that they will offer McBee at 6-1. Who are the other players anyway. You did not refer to any in your answer. I've heard that they are really the glue to the team.
