smith co. wins 35 - 17 . I've seen pearl cohn play, and smith co. has advantage. srength and depth of team goes to smith co. discipline of team ,smith co. both have some good athletes, qb position goes to smith co., o-line goes to smith co., receivers go to pearl cohn , d-line goes to smith co., speed goes to pearl cohn, coaching goes to smith co., running backs go to smith co. with slight advantage. kicking game about equal. playing at home in the hole and hometown crowd , advantage smith co. band department definately goes to pearl cohn. smith co. has not been giving up any penalty yards. pearl has given up a few penalty yards on both sides. smith co. wins the game if they make the key match up, and stop PC receivers from running to the ball when they through it up for grabs.

. I would like to take that bet with you good time. I have seen both play as of lately. I'll take smith

this will be a great game in the hole friday night. can not wait to watch this one. the smith co. boys will be ready for pc. the same way they where ready for them last time.

Good job YAI. I saw the game and was very impressed by the dragons. Smith County got taken out to the woodshed. They were outplayed in all phases of the game, The Dragons should have scored two more times. York's QB had an excellent night, He never got hit...... He was the one delivering the blows. I was suprised to see the owls shy away from contact. They looked really "soft". The owls were out coached, outplayed, and outhit. The indoor practice facility could be the problem. The elements are a big part of football. Also, maybe too many coaches. How does Maynard keep up with all of them. They had at least 15 coaches there tonight. York's field was in great shape and the popcorn was great. Can not wait to read the excuses from the smith county fans. Hope they didn't get behind any horse and buggies on their ride home.It had to be a really long ride regardless. Good luck to the Owls and Dragons in the playoffs. Good job 72/52, you are the main reason you guys won 7 games. You held the program together when it could have fallen apart. 5 shutouts, awesome!!!!!!

Way to go Dragons! Smith Co. looked the weakest of all the district teams except for Upperman. They had one good play all night...a great 50 year run. But, they never threatened to score all night or even came anywhere close. Where were all these Smith Co. fans? Of the 12 bleacher sets provided, the ones across the field were only 2/3rds full...200 people at most, and maybe 20 people in the other set of 5 stands. Like I said in an earlier post, York has more stadium seats than Smith Co. fans to fill them. It was clear York was fired up before the game started and then scored on their 1st possession going right down the field.

As for being "mad" about the Amish comments...no, I knew it was just humor, but being a former teacher I don't like to see that kind of thing. It was acceptable at one time to do that about blacks too and few would do that now. And by the way, the Mennonites do use technology such as cell phones and computers. I was surprised a few years ago to see many cell phones at a Mennonite auction and I didn't have one yet...less tech savvy than the Mennonites.

 

Didn't Coach Brown say something about taking SC behind the woodshed? I seem to recall reading that in the Herald-Citizen.

yea SC had their problems a few games,BUT they have gotten over it and are now moving on. York will see a different team here in the post season,than was up on the mountain. You have the right to make your comments about the regular season game, like we will have the right to make ours after fri. nihgt, game. The OWLS are hitting on all 11 cylinders right now, and we will see who holds the braggin rights in 8aa after fri. night. Wish everyone from Jamestown a safe trip to the hole this fri. night,and a safe trip home afterwards. It will be the long one home. GO SMITH CO.

This will be a good one in the hole fri.night. As for this being the same SC team that YAI beat a few weeks ago, they're not. These boys play as a team on both sides of the ball right now,and are playing with the fire and determination that I knew they had. I've watched these seniors and juniors since youth football and know what they are capable of doing. If SC comes out with the fire they have been showing lately, then YAI is in for something they haven't seen from SC. I know my boys will be out for redemption ,and giving it everything they got.York will not beat them twice this year. LET'S GO BIG OWLS !!

where is all the great 9aa teams now? preparing for b ball ? way to go 8aa and showing how a cupcake region plays smash mouth cupcake football. maybe 9aa should have eaten more cupcakes,sure would have been better than eaten crow now the last two games by SC has been played with the fire and determination that I knew these boys have. as well as YAI . the game fri night between these two teams will be a great game. I know my OWLS will be looking for a little/ lot of payback . the 9aa boys should come and eat some cupcakes and watch some smash mouth,hard hitting,cupcaking slinging 8aa football. congrats to both teams.you represent 8aa well. can,t wait for this one. Once again I can,t wait for this game fri. night in the hole. I was very proud that the SC Owls got it back on track. I watched the Owl Pride play up to their capabilities agaisnt a very athletic team last fri. night. The boys came out with the some fire and spunk that they didn,t show the last few games. I was even inspired that the SC fans was up for this game. Let's all keep it going for the great match up this fri. night. Once again I'm pledging for all SC fans to get up off your rears and support our boys for 48 mins. and I know they will give it all they got. The senoirs really impressed me agaisnt PC , they stepped up and played the kind of football that they are capable of playing. The owls will be ready for this game. The boys know that its time to play hard or go home.The senior bunch know they have to lay it all out or its their last time on the field showing the smith county pride.They have got what it takes to win they just[must] have to bring it all out on the field for 48 min. friday night. We usually play better as the underdog as this will be the case come friday. The boys , the coaches and the fans have got to bring the football pride and fire of smith co. pride to this game.I have to admit it has all been kinda low keyed in the hole this year. I haven't missed a SC football game in Coach Maynards 11 yr. reign, and i can say that this has been the lowest keyed crowd i have seen. word has it that smith co. fans will be slipping onto the visitors side after midnight thurs. and putting up temp. bleachers on the roof of the building that sits on the visitors side. ps : antwan you might want to bring your own popcorn also. GO BIG OWLS!!

Ok, question. I have to agree with Bobcatfan here, why, if York has played such a "sorry" schedule, and is just a "decent" team, where they ranked 8th at one point? All I have heard is excuses as to why York is so bad. Why has there not been any mention other than once as to Smith's "close" encounters, and then the not so close one I witnessed at Tech. If York is a "decent" team, then Smith is no better. I was not the least bit impressed. 4 picks, about the same number of fumbles, and it wasn't even raining... Just don't get too cocky. And, haven't you heard? Smith pays double to get in... We're trying to get us a fancy indoor practice facility as well...

 

Why don't you work on some seating first? It's ridiculous situation for people that want to actually see the game. It's also ridiculous the game wasn't played tonight.

can not wait for this game. should be a good one. i don't think it will be your regular sc vs. cc game as in past years.big game for both teams. sc win means over all champs. cc win means 3 way tie. im pretty sure both teams know what a w means.if its a wet muddy field,SC 17-CC 7. if the field is in half descent shape SC 35 - CC 14. looking for the owls to grab the title in the HOLE. I also have Dish Network,and cannot believe their isn,t no local channels showing these games.Great income from advertisment from local to statewide buisness. I know the last few yrs. everyone I know watched 1 or 2 of these games.Some local networks ad execs. missed this one . SHOULD COST somebody their job. Right! and Oneida took theirs off....Then TC put theirs back ON the entire 1st quarter. I saw the coach...in the press box slowly take his head set off after 1,500 fans were pointing at him.

could this be the year that alcoa goes down? i think it could happen. alcoa is not as good as they would want everyone to think. marion co. just proved that tonight. if milan plays smart ,smash mouth , pressure on the qb, they can weaken the f5 to small whirlwind. this may be the end to the dominance of alcoa.go milan and hit em in the mouth and go after em hard ,and you can win.

yeah i know ,i just got off that thread and it got me fired up again. i apologize to all TC fans , coaches and players. That is over and done, and regret we will not be playing each other again, it made for some real good county rival games. With all that being said ,I can't wait to watch this game between two great 1a football programs.I'm sure this is going to be a rumble on the creekbank tomorrow night.Don't tell the TSSAA this,but this game will be a real deal for $7,for any high school football enthusiast. Have a safe trip to all SP players and supporters,and good luck and a safe game to both teams.

TC fans will try to say this a Coach Creasy only coached team.Who from TC will bet me that clint satterfield will not be on the sideline or in the press box relaying info to Coach Creasy. Hopefully he won't be on the sideline if SP player gets tackled on TC side , he might make some kind of classy remark to them as he did in the Smith Co./TC game , or the class act of getting hold of your playbook.Heard satterfield is offering top dollar for SP play book.

for 1.) no this aint the championship b4 the championship.

#1This is for the state title #2 I know that Greenback nor Onedia can't stay on the field with either of these teams, not nocking on either but this is true. #3 The winner of this game is in cruise control for the title #4 Trousdale wins in a close battle.

We won't see Marion in the playoffs next year. We are in different classes.

Thats right , I keep forgetting. I also heard that Trousdale Co. will not be on SC schedule next yr. I will miss this great rival game if it's true. I don,t think I'm going to like this new classification schedule.

This is going to be a battle on the creekbank fri. night for what should be played in week 15 for the gold ball.No disrespect to any other 1a teams, but the winner of this game will recieve the gold ball in the boro. Should be close to the end, if it comes down to the kicking game TC wins. They have a great kicker, I think his name is Jared White. This will be the game of the week! Good luck to my neighboring team TC. I will be there spectating since my SC boys are out of the playoffs.
