most of the time there are certain weeks that will be open games depending on whether a team is in a 6,7 or 8 team region.  for most teams that usually means that that weeks 1,2,4 and 6 are non-region.  Most teams start working on there tentative schedule as early as possible, a gentlemen's agreement so to speak, if you wait to the region teams are all set you may have to settle with who is left over

The next Lee Atkins.  You may have to go to Arkansas now just like LEA.

MC has the better team. GC a good offense but defense is suspect.  MC solid on both sides.

With the new tssaa region alignments Franklin County's schedule will be a little more friendly to a new head coach than the past 2 years schedule.    Hopefully the administration, fans, and parents will support the program and give this new coach more than 2 years to prove his worth.   

Only if they hire someone who really cares about the program.

I did not say he would take it, I said he would be a good choice IF they could lure him away from Huntland.  There are several other good choices who have been at FC in recent history as well.  Brewer, Roberson, Christian, and Jennings would all be great choices too.  All of them have been coordinators at FC besides Roberson, and he was the Head Freshman Coach that won with the same kids that Smith could not win with.

Reed would be a great choice.....I agree.  But he doesn't want in that mess.  And the other guys you mentioned are all gone and at other places now, except for Christian.  They were all passed over before so I don't see any of them wanting it now.

Should have kept Smith if this is true.  Must hire a coach and stay the course if FC is ever going to win again. To many different head coaches in a short amount of time.  Hiring assistants is a bigger concern than who the head coach is. Huntland has a full staff wonder why we cant have a full staff.

Great move on FC's part to dismiss Smith.  The inmates ran the prison under his leadership.

At South Pittsburg, we are very blessed and spoiled. All fans should come out and support this team and make noise for the playoffs. The players feed off that. I've talked to several of the boys and they want to play in front of an electric crowd not some funeral home. Even Beerman would probably say his son would say the same thing ( congrats to him on a good season so far btw). Whether it's hollering or bringing shakers or something to the game we need a revival inside of Beene Stadium and I'm just keeping it real. We don't know how good we have it some times. We look at our schedule every year at the beginning of the year and know we will mercy rule a lot of teams. That doesn't happen everywhere. Myself I have watched SP play in 7 state title games. That's more than some schools have in their history. So, come out and support these boys for the playoffs and make a little noise! It's great to be a Pirate!

We have made the playoffs the last 8 years.  Same team back this year that made the playoffs last year and didn't make it.  Very disappointing.  Sometimes changes are not necessary.  The grass is not always greener.

Giles can score but defense is not very good.
