GotGame, these people who are more qualifed and interested need to come and apply. We are still looking at 3, as far as i know. If the are that interested, then why are they dragging their feet?
Could you not get an argument started on another thread and came back to this one?
One other thing thats been bothering me, your spelling has " not got much punkin", I have been wondering if your a kid.
basketball4me lets hold "gotNOgame" to his word. He said this is the last thing he is going to say about this situation. Thank God!!!How did the boys do at the MC camp today? Did they get their first win of the summer?
-
Let me tell you the best hire. -Someone who has been in the system for at least 10 years that I know of.
-Someone who has taught most of the students in the high school.
-Someone who has proven to be a great teacher.
- Someone who has coached most of the boys and girls that are in high school and most
of the ones who have graduated the past five or six years.
-Coach Moore is responsible for a lot of the success H.C. basketball has had over the
several years.
-Someone who I know for sure won the district both years at Erin Elem.,won the district
in middle school, and won the district in high school. And its not easy to do.
-Someone you know will stay.
-I could go on all day with these reasons.
This is an easy decision.
Now lets look at the only reason he might not get the job. His son got assaulted at school and he is upset about it.
-
It seems like a lot of interest in this coaching position. WOW!! All I can say is everyone just needs to sit back and see who gets hired. The administration will put the best candidate in the spot as possible weather the fans think so or not. What we have to realizie is whoever the new coach is...we need to make it easy for that person. We are supporters of Houston County and we do not want for the next person in charge to think we are not for him. The main thing as a educator/coach is your child getting the best experience as possible and having a successful program. It is not one person's fault because they got hired. I think it's a good job to have. I wish the next person whomever it may be the best of Luck at Houston County. Just remember one thing..... There are a whole lot of good coaches "outside" of the Houston County area. It is ok to go outside of the box to make a hire if it's a good candidate. Good Luck to everyone!!
It's not o.k. if you have a good coach already in your system. You should hire from within, especially when you have someone who is more than qualified and is going to stay. Someone else said that they wondered if coach Moore would be interested after his kids are gone. All the years that he has coached, I can only remember him coaching his own kids for two years. Most of the time he never even coached his kids. He is a basketball coach plain and simple.
-
It has been said that "The right decision is not always the popular one". In this case, however, THE RIGHT DECISION IS ALSO THE POPULAR ONE!!! I agree with you greatergood.Where is the compassion?
-
Could it be that the reason that Moore shouldn't be considered for the position is the way he has come and gone in the previous coaching positions he has had. I think he has had at least 3 different coaching postions in Houston Co and always resigns from them after a few years. He has quit a few of these at the last minute leaving the administration scrambling to get the position filled. So maybe the administration is not playing politics but steering clear of a situation that they had to deal with in the past. Also odds are if you checkout the people in the community who keep up with the athletic programs Moore will have very little support.
Let me see, I think Moore coached a couple of years at Erin Elem. then moved UP to the middle school to coach then was asked to move UP again to coach the High School girls. Then I think he did resign after winning the district championship and getting the program back on track so that he could coach, be at all of his own kids games, and get into administration. As far as support, have you not been reading these message boards; We are the people who keep up with athletic programs. Or did you have a kid that got cut or didn't get enough playing time?
-
I remember some kid named Chuck Arnold. Played around the late eighties. Had a heart as big as all outdoors. Maybe not the most talented but defintely a kid that's the foundation of the program. I think he lives in Bolivar now.
could not play and really can not ref!!!!

Oh, so you want to get ugly about a child on here where everyone can read it? Pitiful. You have your opinion, I have mine, and I think the Wilburn boys is a good ball handler, and can nail a 3. As to my knowledge of basketball, most people on here agree with my posts. You, on the other hand, just run your mouth, I remember you. And, I know who you are.
What middle school games were YOU watching. And btw, thats NOT where their team finished.
So get the facts straight b4 you slam a kid on here. Shame on you.
One other thing, it's "wouldn't"
The truth hurts. There is not a good PG in middle school. They cannot handle the pressure. I do agree with you on Monroe and Roper. Very good inside game. I have seen most of the middle school games this year and the high school will struggle after this sophomore bunch leaves. I do enjoy watching the sophomores play because they know how to play and they play well with each other. I love HC basketball and hope they do good but you want find a good high school PG in that bunch. One other thing, have you ever looked at your spelling or grammar?
-
Looks that way Grendal. They also have the Wilson boy ( soph ) who can shoot the lights out but he doesnt have much size. A Freshman thats probably going to be as big as Monroe and Roper, needs a little meat on his bones, but is very aggresive, along with a couple of other boys who can handle the ball and are good outside shooters. The upcoming freshman ( this years 8th graders ) contain a quick little pg who can drill a 3, and runs the floor like he owns it, a post player who isn't "skeered" and puts me in mind of the Monroe boy the way he plays. He can move well, and can take the ball up with 3 boys on him. Also, another post player, who can play anywhere on the floor, he can handle the ball almost as well as a pg. As I said, the future looks good for HC.
Were you watching the same middle school games I seen. The only time Wilburn played pg was when the other team was set back in a zone defense. When the real pressure was on, Nolen had to handle the ball. Also, the last time I checked, a pg had to be able to protect the ball and dribble with their left hand. These kids finished 6th in a (7) team conference. Nolen and Settles might become good high school players if they play some aau or practice in the off season.

Well you won't hear that from me and this was a big win tonight for SC but its only one. Still a way to go and hopefully SC can get a big streak going here. Good job guys keep it up.
It was a big win and I'm glad someone is realistic. I hope we don't have to listen to all that stuff any more.I hope things really get shook up by the end of the season, I just hope we don't have to listen to that crap again especially if you dont know if you can back it up or not.
-
Well bkballer30, SC has had their ups and downs this year but they don't get on here and post anymire because they dont want to start anything and remained focused on the task at hand and not what others think. They came out tonight and took it to Harpeth all night. In the 4th Harpeth cut it too 3 but then a 3 by Matt Earhart put it too 6 and later on a technical after a foul by Horkins it put it to 10. I have to say that Harpeth lost their composure and partly due to the great job we the students did in the stands. Hopefully SC can keep the momentum they have and get another big win Tuesday.
I just no how SC likes to toot thier own horn because nobody else will. I figured we would hear all about it.
-
Where is the Stewart County faithful. At the beginning of the year they were one of the teams to beat and Smith was the MVP. Oh, then they found out maybe they are not that good and no one wants to talk any more. Now Stewart County upsets Harpeth. I guess you think they will win the district now. Oh, and I guess now you probably think DYLAN SMITH FOR PRESIDENT !!!! Come on lets here it.
-
I have never seen so much conflict from waverly and its fans. Tou people need to calm down. a lot of people read this stuff including coaches and players. You are killing your team. You are going to have the tigers in so much turmoil they will never be able to come together. Im not from waverly and I hate to see what is happening even if I want to beat waverly.
-
Heard Dillard threw up 49 tonite can anyone confirm that?
Dillard did have 49 points last night in a 95-87 win. I think he hit six 3 pointers.
-
Ok Scrapman. Everyone knows that you are 23's father and biggest fan. Your comments are entertaining to say the least.
Amen[u], I just wrote my opinion. My opinion is Ethan Dillard. I think he is the best shooter in 10A. Scramman, You cant make people respect 23 or whh. The year is early, they will have to earn it.
-
first to start off, there is no such thing as a lucky win, but there is such thing as a sore loser which you sound like your must be...also you dont seem much of a waverly fan or you wouldnt be pulling so much hate to us, we dont need that crap...if a team is good enough to beat you one time then they deserve credit no matter how their past has been or how the rest of their season goes. so to everyone else on the board, dont let this one so called waverly fan get to you, he obviously knows nothing and shows it.
thank you. that had to be said. Good luck to waverly friday night. It should be a good one at CW.
-
as ya'll should know cheatham co. was beat by them. either way that was there last upset agaist waverly at least
Eveybody from "WAVO" is talking about how good their gaurds are. How much fun they are to watch. Where were they when they let a soph. point gaurd control the whole tempo of the game.
-
how bout this for monkey central, ANOTHER LUCKY WIN Ya'll are still nothing and will stay thata way, wait til ya'll come to wavo, we got something in store for you. creek wood u better be ready for the upset, cause we coming, and no i don't play ball for the tigers.
A win is a win the last time I checked. Some people from Waverly may say MC is nothing, but I say MC is
2-0.I like it when MC can get so many people upset. They are already causing the district to get all shook up and all tore up. And Creekwood is a lot better than people have gave them credit for. Waverly better watch out for CW and everybody else in the district. Sorry you got your feelings hurt Tuesday night. Maybe you need to find another team to cheer for.
-
If you know anything about basketball, you know CA is going to win the 10A district. About the only thing to talk about now is who will finish second.
-
cheatham played bad and montgomery central played great with the exception being about a 3 minute stretch from the middle to last few moments of the contest. bkballer you need to get your facts straight. montgomery central cant play much better than they did the other night. outside of hyatt and daniel they are not very good at all. jimmy young is still a psycho on the bench! cheatham will win the rematch down the road when the 2 meet again. look for the cubs to get on track tonight at fairview.
You have lost your mind.Sounds like a sore loser to me. MC had a bad game and still won. Cheatham will be lucky to stay within 15 when they come to central. MC did get back on track tonight after the disappointing win at Cheatham. They beat Waverly. Who won the Cheatham Co./ Fairview game.
-
Have you noticed that all of these fans are the sour fans of SC. Sorry you lost to a SINGLE A team. Lets not mention how much you got out played the 2nd half. Just grow up and quit crying about the calls. That is what all of those weirdos do in Dover is cry when it doesnt go the right way. Easy way to get out of it is blame others. Not just take the stand and say you got beat!!!I guess there isnt anything better else to do in Dover... well i guess you can hunt. grow up..tired of reading a thred from 4 days ago that doesnt mean anything.
Even the Houston County fans said it shouldnt have counted, but they are glad they won.
Yet Another Coaching Vacancy
in Boys Basketball
Posted
Speaking of politics, when was the boys assistant job posted? Can they hire coach Young without posting it? I never saw this job posted on the boards website. I don't see how this move can help the girls program. He can't win with the girls now, so he is going to devote time to the boys program. Ms. Jolly may feel more comfortable with these two but the reality of it is, You have two inexperienced coaches running Houston County basketball and this is not good for the student athletes. Of course they will have some success thanks to other coaches that have coached these players.
