  1. Alcoa fans are not allowed on the Maryville home side. Didn't you guys get the memo.

    Alcoa in a THUMPING!!!

:roflol: That's very funny MLREB but I have seen several games on the Maryville side. Just a little surprised that Alcoa would be on the visitors side. Considering our fans will over flow on the visitors side. This is also a joint venture between our two schools. which would leave me to believe that we would be on the HOME SIDE. Only makes sense but I guess not. :popcorneater:

Thumping well I'm not so sure... Were breaking in a new defense with several new starters. Voytik's the type of quarterback that can make plays much like Robinette. So it could be a little closer than some think but we will see.

  2. That's actually a tremendous idea. Alcoa/Webb on oneside (I doubt TOO many Webb fans will get there that early to sit in the sun) and then Maryville (who always packs their stands) and Cleveland (who probably wont have too big of a crowd) on the other side.

 Personally I don't like the idea. That's the east side of the field which means the sun will be beating down on our team and fans. With the temps being in the 90's I see nothing good about it. Just my 2 cents on that.

As for the big game on Saturday. This is a very interesting match-up to start the season. Alcoa's pound it out offense versus the high flying passing game of Cleveland's. I expect a high scoring game in this one. I would say the over and under in this one would be about 70 points. Alcoa's big play offense with quick strike capabilities from Cleveland's great qp. The difference in this one could be special teams and conditioning. If Cleveland can't kick it in the end zone on kickoff's then I expect one to be taken to the house. Alcoa's probably has a few more play-makers which should give them the advantage but you never know with a quarterback like Voytik. Can't wait till Saturday... Wow that sounds weird for HSF!! GO TORNADOES!!!

  3. If you think those announcers are good, then East Tennessee is missing out. My wife watched the game with me and became frustrated with the lack of quality presentation they provided. Only one play by play and one color guy? Somebody stop the presses call ESPN and MNF and tell them they have it wrong. They have 3 guys in the booth every week. How about an announcer from East, Middle, and West Tennessee? That way all the state is covered and some great stories can be shared. All I am saying there is room for improvement if they want this event to carry on.

To the lineman, if they want this game to have a lot of offensive scoring then get away from the spread. I love the spread, the team I coach runs it, however in a 3 day period the timing of it is more difficult. If you have played football, you have been part of a I team sometime.

You can say I am whining, but I say it is constructive criticism. Back during the East vs. West Shrine game these same problems occurred and they never addressed them. This event is great for the players and I want it to continue on. But if you want it to continue on, you have to continue to make it better.

Also, a coach on both teams should be assigned to make sure each player gets a certain number of snaps. The players were chosen to play in the game, make sure they all play. You can't tell the players to just rotate themselves in. Why are the coaches there then? Why not just let the players run the team if that is the way it is going to be ran.

Funny, I don't remember any of the state championship game announcers being from East Tennessee? :popcorneater:

  4. So I'm a hater because I said Alcoa was not challenged or faced adversity in the past few years?

OK Fact guy. I give. Alcoa playes the toughest and best in the country! Is that what you think? Then think it.

Good luck thinking Alcoa is the best in the state, who really cares. Most will not agree with you there Jack. By the way good luck getting GQ to agree with you.

<_< There isn't to many close playoff games for Maryville either. The TSSAA new system is broken. We need to go to 4 classifications with 1 private class. Alcoa 14 Cak 3 (week 3 of the playoffs) Wasn't that game closer than any Maryville played (playoffs) until the championship game? Alcoa had two starters out that game. I would call that adversity. Yet you want to make these comments.

Alcoa has won 43 straight games including two straight wins over your Rebels. You and the Rebel nation should know how hard this is. GQ is one of the greatest high school coaches ever in the state of Tennessee. Our run is going to come to an end soon but I won't forget how good the last two teams (09-10) have been.

  5. Now look murderBYzeN....I'm really sorry about the loss of the young man from Columbia....

Butt eye haiv two disagree wif ewe on Columbia beetun' Greenvul, Alcouh, orr Mairvul....Columbia beets Knotts West 7-0 ...Mairvul beets Knots West 35-6.....And Chattanoogie iz closur two Georgie and Alabammy than hit iz middull Tennursee.....

Good point STARS!!! ENOUGH SAID!! :thumb:

  6. How is this not "discounting our titles and accolades" ?

Do you really think that if Alcoa hadn't scored on that 4th and 7 play ... that no one from Alcoa might of said ... we might beat Maryville if we played them again ? FBEmeritus didn't even say Maryville would win ... he said might . Geez DSM10 , I think you got a little carried away there ... your schedule tougher than ours ???

pepvol know one has said our schedule was better than yours. I do not agree with that but Cak was as good if not better than anyone you played in the playoff besides Symrna. That's my personal opinion from seeing the other schools. Loudon was a pretty good football team too. They beat Bradley Central by 3 in the regular season. That's the same school Oak Ridge beat by 2 points in the playoffs. They also both played Campbell County with similar results. Just sayin they were not that much different. That's my argument with FBEMeritus and anyone else that disagrees. 3A on this side of the state has been good. Alcoa has just had some incredible teams and all FBE wants to do is diminish our schedule and team. The same thing that other posters(teams) has done to Maryville. Which is completely wrong. You me and the other Maryville posters laughed at the way Symrna discounted Maryville's schedule. That's the same thing he's doing to Alcoa. He has done this for the last six years to Alcoa. What he really wants is us to play in 6A? I GUESS.... :popcorneater:

GEEZ if ALCOA HADN'T GOT THAT 4th and 7.... :roflol: Boy when the shoe is on the other foot it just doesn't fit sometimes.

Maryville is getting ready to run about 76 straight wins and 4 or 5 championship in a row. The funny thing is you know I'm right but yet here we are talking about the top 3 team in the state THIS YEAR. I feel like if any team could appreciate what we have done it would be the Maryville fans and coaches. You won't hear me try to diminish what Maryville's getting ready to do again. THINK ABOUT THAT!!!! <_<

  7. OR was a much better team at the end of the year than loudon was my friend... oak ridge wasnt half the team they were at the beginiing of the year then how they were at the end of the year. 2 totally different teams... and fyi, so was bradley central... when loudon played them they werent half as good as they were at the end of the year imo

Yea your right Loudon got worse.... :roflol: I'm not saying Loudon would have for sure beat Oak Ridge but it would have been a close game. Cak would have beat Oak Ridge. IMO... I did slip to the second half of the Oak Ridge vs Maryville game. So I got a pretty good view of the Wildcats.

  8. Also for the schedule I will say CAK was better than Oak Ridge. Loudon was just as good as Oak Ridge. Loudon beat Bradley Central just like Oak Ridge. The only tuff game Maryville had was the championship game.

:roflol: Oh boy DSM. I have been laughing at some of your post the last couple of weeks but this quote is the best. Thanks for the comedy.

Glad you got a laugh out of it. Did you see CAK play? I did twice and I actually seen Oak Ridge twice (well if you count the scrimmage that's three times). That's just my opinion if you don't agree then that's fine. .. CAK put more points on us than Maryville did and the might GQ. That should tell you something. FBEMeritus has always tried to discount our titles and accolades. I'm just pointing out the obvious. I believe most people from Alcoa would tell you the same thing about Cak.

  9. This time of year, of course I biased but Maryville, Smyrna or Alcoa then the rest. Greenville? Oakridge, Riverdale?

One cannot assume Alcoa would beat Maryville this time of year. The reason, after the MHS vs. AHS game, the first of the year for Maryville, Alcoa plays cream puffs. What forces them to improve? Alcoa is never behind or even in a close game at the half. Never challenged to face adversity. Being challenged and facing adversity is what marks a true champion and top football program. Not all Alcoa's fault the rest of the teams have to step up, CAK is trying but not there yet, but as it is now after the Maryville game Alcoa Cake walks to the gold ball. Check the facts and record yourself the past 5-6 years.

If Alcoa had a tough schedule it might not be so. Threads like this are silly because there is no way to know what might happen.

I said my piece so bring the hate.

You are one of the biggest Alcoa haters on this thread. From years past Alcoa fans would say we would have a better chance to beat the Rebels at the end of the year. Guess what all- ALL the Rebels fans would say. We done beat you guess so therefore were better. Alcoa beat Maryville this year at Maryville. That was the first time the Rebels had lost in about 10 years at home. And so some of you act like we couldn't beat you again :roflol: .... If I'm not mistaken Maryville caught every break in that first game. I guarantee you George Quarles would tell you who the best team was in the state.

Also for the schedule I will say CAK was better than Oak Ridge. Loudon was just as good as Oak Ridge. Loudon beat Bradley Central just like Oak Ridge. The only tuff game Maryville had was the championship game. Why don't you check your facts JACK???! Is it just that the Blount County Schools are that much better. Put that in your pipe and smoke it!

  10. I am not a big fan of the Alcoa posters on CoachT but with that said.........

Everyone trying to rain on Alcoa's parade and Coach Rankin's accomplishments by saying they "should play in the higher class" needs to go GET A LIFE!

    FACTS

FACT #1: Alcoa is one of the smallest schools in all of Class 3A

FACT #2: Alcoa's schedule for the next 2 years includes:

    Maryville (State Champs)

    Greeneville (State Champs)

    Knoxville Webb (State Champs)

CAK (Quarterfinalist: #2 team in Class 3A)

    Fulton (4A 2nd Round)

    Scott County (4A 2nd Round)

    Loudon (3A 2nd Round)

    Austin East (3A 2nd Round)

    Kingston (3A 1st Round)

Aside from Stone Memorial someone show me where Alcoa plays a "weak" opponent <_<

I saw a post last night that showed the guys Alcoa returns next year as well. Alcoa is going to be the 2011 Preseason #1 in Class 3A. They are going to have a great running back, a very good offensive line, an outstanding core of linebackers, and a very good secondary. They are going to have to replace the quarterback & 2 powerful running backs on offense. On defense they are going to have to find two book ends and a very good safety. They'll also have to find a new kicker.

I do believe that Rankin comes back for his 30th (and IMHO his final) year as a head football coach in the state of Tennessee in 2011. Ironically it will be his son's senior season as well. If Alcoa wins an 8th State Championship in 2011 it will be Rankin's 10th as a head football coach (1994, 1997, 2001, 2004, & 2006-2010 being the 9 he currently has). Rankin's overall record currently stands at 324-60 through 29 years as a head coach:

    1982-1989 at Smith County: 59-31

    1990-2005 at Riverdale: 194-25

    2006-2010 at Alcoa: 71-4

CONGRATS TO ALCOA ON A 12TH STATE CHAMPIONSHIP & YOUR 7TH CONSECUTIVE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP :thumb:

I know there has been a lot of post about Rankin leaving Alcoa but I would have to agree with you on this one. People who doubt his coaching abilities and coaching philosophy are really just haters. He will go down as one of the greatest coaches in this states history. I don't even agree with some of the things he does some times but how could you argue with the results.

As far as next year well its going to be a lot tougher. Should be an interesting year for the TORNADOES!!!

  11. greeneville impressed me as much as any team in the whole thing... cant wait till them and alcoa play, and alcoa webb, and alcoa maryville... some dang good games next season!

Well in my opinion they would be about 5th or 6th. Nobody has the RB''s Alcoa had this year. Next year will be different year for the Tornadoes. They will have one of the toughest schedules in the state. I just wish we would have had this team next year.
