I just hope lil ol' smyrna can hang in there against this legendary, spectacular, rich in tradition power house that is MARYVILLE. These boys took it to riverdale last year with their WORST team since like 2000. smyrna just has a banged up starting running back and is missing a starting LB, probably just going to be another BLOWOUT against the 2nd WORST MARYVILLE team since 2000. Geez bulldogs, should have just laid down and forfeited already...smyrna faithful, alumni, students, don't even bother going to the game. The RIGOROUS, RIDICULOUSLY TOUGH (yet somehow underrated) schedule MARYVILLE has played has left them WAY more prepared than the little ol lavergnes smyrna has played. I pray for you bulldogs...

I absolutely love how the Smyrna faithful think Alcoa is a "little ol' 3a school". Ha ha Alcoa this year would run over ANY team in the state that they play. And you haven't seen football until you play in the week in and week out competition that Maryville does.

Here is the real deal. You can throw strength of schedules, opponents, records, and stats out with this game. This is a real state championship final. Dawgs we need to have the best week of practice. Focus. This game will be nothing like the 07' game against Independence. That game was won before the buses left the school. We will have to play error free and with discipline. These are the two best teams in 6A. No one can argue that. Can Smyrna beat Maryville? Absolutely!!!!! No question. But don't be caught staring at the gold ball. It is not yours......yet. You still have to go out and earn it. And you best be or your A game. It sounds like a lot of Maryville fans think this is in the bag based on some past titles. Again that means nothing. We care about your past history as much as you care about ours. This game will be epic. So everyone needs to stop with the "your schedule was soft and four teams from the East could have made to cookeville" stuff. Maryville is real good. We got it. So is Smyrna. Bottom line is Smyrna and Maryville are the only two remaining. And for good reason. See yall in Cookeville. Go Dawgs!!!

Sorry i just couldn't pass this one up. 7-3, 6-4, 6-4, and 6-4 could have been playing in cookeville this weekend. I will give you Bearden. But please think before you type. Why not say 3-7 coffee county could have made it also. Or better yet anyone could have made it to cookeville. That makes about about as much sense. Truth is there are only a handfull of teams each year that actually have a shot at making it to the title game. No need to pump up East TN. The two teams playing this weekend are the the two best remaining in 6A. No upset in the semi-finals. Now we will find out who the best is in the state.

That is so correct. The east bracket had 7 teams that won 7 or more games during the season. The west bracket

had 13 teams that won 7 or more wins during the regular season. I know you maryville guys hate it when i bring up stats. hey you guys should be the favorite to win saturday since you have been able to rest your starters throughout the playsoffs while Smyrna has been beaten up by two dist champs and the best back in the state (most folks say Mathers is the best back in the state, but, i gotta give props to Bryson. this guy is an iron man who plays through pain and never gives up !)

im just trying to put things in perspective. when i put up the post that i titled "How they got here " you Maryville guys jumped all over me as if facts dont matter. and you talk about being humble? you guys were jumping on the Smyrna vs Whithaven thread just to talk trash and brag about" merryville" ! so dont get all " holy than thou" with that not being humble crap! my whole point that i have been making is that you guys are acting like ya'll have beaten the best teams around to get here when really you havent even faced the caliber of teams that we have beaten ! woof ! strap it on and quit living off what you did years ago. Just want to make sure that I understand your logic. You are saying any team that doesn't win more than six games in regular season is soft. Remind me how many wins did your team have in 2008 and 2009? 5-5 last year and 6-4 in 2008...were those teams soft?

and yes we went 5-5 and 6-4 and were not able to get into the playoffs .most of the teams you played in the east bracket post season this year were 6-4. try to use logic to figure where i am going with this . dude why are you getting so upset im not making this stuff up. you had a soft schedule during the season and in the playoffs.

when you beat us then you can really beat your chest or do a Rebel yell or whatever ....yeeeeeehaaaaa!

It was a great game. If our fast db doesn't catch your fast tailback it is a different ballgame. Hard to imagine any two faster kids... that and pick were two huge plays... whitehaven were great hosts and a great band. Lot of your players come back next year don't they?

who was the Smyrna player that ran #7 down . who ever he was he must be super fast because #7 for Haven had some jets on him ?
