  1. Has it occurred to you that things sometimes do happen by accident? I had my nose broken twice while playing, once so bad that I bled on the floor, on myself, on my teammates, on the coach... You get the idea. I know exactly who did it - we were tied up for the ball and her elbow flew and knocked my nose to the other side of my face. However, I chalk that up to the heat of game play. Things happen when people are playing intensely.

I can assure you that Christy Green would lay an egg before she'd encourage one of her players to purposefully hurt an opponent.

  2. I'll tell you what kind of pent up anger it is - it's the kind that you get when have snide remarks made about your school for years. It's the kind of anger you get when your school is physically defaced. I read your previous posts - you seem to be a fair person who has not made any harmful remarks towards our schools. However, it's going to take more than a couple of people on a message board to change my mind.

All the LCHS fans can get on here and flame me if they like. The LHS and the SHS fans know where I'm coming from.

If you didn't agree with what golfcat said, get on here and call him out. Otherwise, you're just blowing smoke.

  3. A big "well done" to the Lady Eagles (Just a question to the fans, did you get so used to calling them the 'Eaglettes' that it sounds funny to call them the Lady Eagles? Just wondering if it was only me.)

I think many people (including myself) underestimated Summertown this year, in no small part to the successes that Loretto has had. I believe that Summertown has "flown under the radar", so to speak.

However, I know that the Summertown fans haven't forgotten them and will be out in force to support their team. I admire this team so much for their tenacity and heart - you might see a Summertown team lose, but you'll never see them lose without trying their best.

  4. 3BALLA4MUSTANGS,

Listen, you're going to have settle down on here. You're not representing Loretto in a manner that will give people a good impression of our school. You can't attack everyone who isn't praising Loretto 100% - these people have a right to their opinion as much as you have a right to yours. Coach Green is a grown woman and does not need you to be her "knight in shining armor" and defend her actions. No issue is black or white - no player is perfect all of the time, no coach always makes the right decisions. Being blind to the truth does not make you a better fan - it makes you blind.

Personally, I didn't see anything in DrSlamola's post that was offensive - Coach Green, as a public figure is used to being critiqued - it's part of the job. DrSlamola was stating facts, not making accusations or insults. It was an honest question that was given an honest answer.

Please, for the sake of our reputation as an institution of learning - think about what you say before you say it. I would rather people view Loretto as a team who can play ball, rather than a bunch of jerks that run their mouth. Really, is there any more room in this county for those?

Oh, and Golfcat? I am proud that I was raised "south of the hospital." I can assure you that I can see why people would indeed want to live there. Unfortunately, I could expect no more from a Lawrence County supporter. For some reason, the majority of your lot can't take a waking breath without voicing your superiority over either Summertown or Loretto.

  5. OK, boys, chill. Let me set part of this record straight.

Bballer4life, SBM was referring to a post in which 3BALLA4MUSTANGS made in reply to me and my thoughts on the Marshall County/Loretto game. Dumb post, move on.

Les Trotter is a good technical coach. Good stats, great discipline. BAD attitude. This is not speculation, this is fact. However, fans tend to overlook this when a coach is winning games, to a larger extent in boys basketball. We've seen this quite a few times in this county - once he starts losing games, he will find himself more accountable for his actions.

Jason Burleson will be a good coach, with time and experience. But, he has a few more years to be at Trotter's level, so you're comparing apples and oranges right now.

We ought not be squabbling amongst ourselves on this thread, we have to be united against the larger enemy... Lawrence County.

    Heh.

  6. Hey LOLO, you dont have to "hope" for us!! Us true Loretto Fans can say that this one is goin to be a W!! We may not always come out and play the best, but 16-4 is pretty dang consistent!! Oh well, go Lady Mustangs!!

Show the Tigerettes how basketball is played!!

once again Loretto by 15+!!! ;)

And also lolo, in regards to Marshall Co. being a tough opponent!! I take that back, i dont think they are a tough oponent, its just that they are sooo pathetic they hold the ball b/c thats the only way that they can win!! All they do is put a damper on other teams from makin it somewhere!! They could never win a major title!! LOL

Hey 3BALLA4MUSTANGS, considering I played for Loretto myself, I know a thing or two about their consistency, mmkay?

That being said, being honest about the things a team needs to work on doesn't make you any less of a "true" fan, it makes you a more realistic fan. Loretto has had a problem this season keeping a lead over teams -- usually they pull it out for a W, but it's still an issue they'll have to work on as the tournament draws nearer.

Marshall County's teams are historically physically tough and cannot be underestimated. Holding the ball on a team might be a tactic which frustrates many teams, but a good team has to be able to take what they are given and roll with it. Making lemonade out of lemons, so to speak.

I expect this to be a close game.

  7. 33 Channing Franklin C 5-9  Jr.

    41 Jana Cross C 6-0  So.

80% of these heights are ridiculous.....  For example...  channing Franklin is about 5'6....  Jana cross is probably 5'9, 5'10 at most..  most of these girls are atleast 2-3 inches shorter than what they are listed.....  w/ the exception of a few....  It's kinda ignorant to list bogus heights....

It's probably not too far off... I'm taller than Channing, and shorter than Jana. I was measured at 5' 10" when I played, and I'd say that Jana's 1 to 1.5 inches taller than me. That would put the margin at around 1 inch. I'd say that's about what most programs do.

  8. I don't know about now but back when I played their visitors dressing rooms were in the basement under the court. No windows and the walls, floor and ceiling was painted in all red!!! There was one light bulb suspended from the ceiling. You literally felt like you were in the depths of he77!!!! Add to that the students stomped over the top of your dressing room the whole time were you couldn't hear yourself think much less what a coach was trying to tell you. PRETTY COOL!!!

Are you sure you're not thinking about the Wayne Co. Girls Visitor Locker Room?

  9. Hahaha, good one EagleClaw! So true!

I won't be making it to this one - I had it marked on my calendar, but the weather is yucky and it's been a long day. I have no favorite to win - I love both teams. I just hope the game is fair and close. You can't ask for more than that!
