  1. Does the coaching change at Hillsboro change the district outlook this year?

I don't think the coaching change will make a difference because the team is still stacked with power. The other teams in the district like Ravenwood with the Hutson on the inside will be competition for them, and Brentwood might as well. All in all I sitll believe they will come out on top.

  2. Katrina once played at Hillsboro under the coaching of her mother, who left in 2005. Will she be an asset to the team and their success?

With the returning Vacie Perry, Lakeisha Crouch, Isabelle Harrison, and Jessica Pace, is the coaching difference really going to have an affect on the team and their success this season? What do you think will be the key to success for them this year?

  3. Brentwood played Hunters Lane and were losing to them at half time but made important free throws to seal the win. Hillsboro came right out and pounced on Glencliff from the 1st thru the 4th quarter. Now Hillsboro and Brentwood will face off one last time this season. What do you think the outcome of this game will be?? Who's going to take over and take charge for each team??

  4. The first time I saw crouch play, she was at the pg position against a 2/3. She split the top, spun into the post, head faked, went up around the center and had to sweep out her right handed layup because the foward had fronted her in mid-flight. She flipped the ball up around the foward and banked the shot off the glass for two, then dropped back into position like this was everyday flow. This girl is a major player. Her upside is that if she continues on this path one of the top 10 colleges in the country will gladly pay her tuition, so she can shoot the round ball in their team colors. I only became a slight fan of Hillsboros after seeing her play. You can build up who you want, for whatever reason. Crouch is the real deal. I would not be suprised if someone does not try and get her signed early so that no one else gets her. She is not a one position player, and she will play a mean 3, in division 1 ball. The real upside for a college team is that she will be ready to contribute the day she arrives on campus. Good luck to Hillsboro and everyone else.

So do you believe Crouch is the reason for Hillsboro's success??

  5. Way to go Ravenwood.... /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Hillsboro shot 29% from the field tonight, and couldn't hit free-throws. Ultimately that is what killed them. I believe that Hillsboro will bounce back from this loss and win vs. Independence on Monday night.

  6. I was looking at some stats earlier and noticed that the four teams remaining in 11-AAA all have a pretty good shot at getting to the state tournament. Hillsboro, Independence, and Brentwood all have 20 wins and have beaten some pretty good teams (Mt. Juliet, Dickson County, Clarksville NE, Columbia, Ezell Harding). I am curious what will happen in substate because all 4 of these teams (and McGavock) have a good shot to make a run.

I really think 6-AAA gets a bad rap for being a weak region. When, in reality, any region that has to go through region 5-AAA is going to have a hard time advancing to state. That being said, Brentwood (twice I think), Hillsboro, Antioch, Hunters Lane, and Overton have all made the state tournament in the last 8 years. 6-10 vs. 5-AAA in substate games isn't total domination.

I agree that 11-AAA isn't as bad as most say. Well that is Hillsboro, Independence, Brentwood, and also Ravenwood with the huge size advantage given by Madelyn Hutson. I believe that whoever comes out on top of this district has a huge possibility of making it to the state and contending for the championship.

  7. how was the game against Independence last night? great job hillsboro, i hope you go all the way to the ship!

It was a good game but hillsboro basically came out with way more intensity than indy. I think indy believed hillsboro wasn't ready because of all the hype from their coming home festivities and took the lady burros lightly. Hillsboro played a great game of team basketball last night. CONGRATS LADIES!!! Keep up that undefeated season!!!

  8. Hillsboro and Brentwood will be facing off on Tuesday Feb. 5th @ Brentwood High for the 2nd time this season. Last time Hillsboro took the victory by crashing the boards and converting from the free throw line. Now they're meeting again. Who do you think will take the victory this time. What will be the key factors for both teams to win? Who all in all is the better team?

  9. Although Shelbyville and Wilson Central have always been mentioned as contenders for the State title, I believe that Hillsboro has proven that they can compete with the elite teams in the State. Hillsboro will one of the teams playing for the 3AAA gold ball in March!

    GOOD STATEMENT BBALLFAN21!

  10. Hillsboro will NOT beat Shelbyville, it will be Shelbyville vs Wilson Central

/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> I TOTALLY DISAGREE WITH THE STATEMENT HILLSBORO WILL NOT BEAT SHELBYVILLE. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> That was a very amusing statement. Yes Shelbyville beat Wilson Central but Hillsboro also beat Mt. Juliet by 5 when Shelbyville lost to MJ by 21. Hillsboro has a team full of well rounded players. Shelbyville has good guard play with Ceny Phelps and Sha'Para Johnson. But when Perry is on the floor she see's the floor well and gets the ball where it needs to be. Hillsboro is a defensive team averaging 16.7 steals per game and 4.4 blocked shots. They also rebound the ball very well averaging 33.5 a game. I think if it came down to it, It would be a tough match but in the end Hillsboro would win. Shelbyville doesn't know who to stop on the floor!

  11. This should be a good one to watch. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

Hillsboro travels to Independence tomorrow for the team's first meeting of the season. Last year Hillsboro won 2 of the 3 games between the two. Independence is a group that's grown together over the past 3 years and have improved a great deal. With Hillsboro, they play very well together, and they're capable of having all five starters in double digits with no problems. Who's gonna come out on top of this one?

    OPINIONS??? /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

  12. The Nautilus Express is an East TN team. They are looking for a few good players for this up coming AAU season. Tryouts will be held the first of March. It is a 16U/Jr team. If you are 14,15,16 or 17 years old and still have another year of High School and are interested in trying out please email nautilusexpressaau@live.com. It is a highly competitive team that is funded by local corps. With national travel and exposure.

    Where do you hold practices??

  13. Ezell is that good. It took a bad call to help Hillsboro pull this one out. A foul was called on Ezell for being 5 feet from a Hillsboro player that fell down. I guess they thought she knocked her down. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> They hit two free throws to go up by one. Ezell had a chance to win but threw the ball away. Anyway it was a great game.

The game was actually tied when the "foul" was called. She didn't knock her down. She only hit 1 of her free throws to give Hillsboro the 1 point lead. The ball was thrown away and stolen by Pace and handed to Crouch at the last second which sealed the deal. /sleep.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="-_-" border="0" alt="sleep.gif" />

    /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> It was a very entertaining game.

  14. #42, I believe, is LeKeisha Crouch. I have not seen her play during the high school season but have watched her play a couple of times in AAU. She is a stud and is only a sophomore. If Hillsboro is able to get to the State Tournament (and possibly win it) and garner themselves some national attention, she could very well be a High School All-American before she graduates.

I agree. Crouch led her team with 17 points in the 1 point victory over Ezell. Pace followed with 15. It was a very intense game with lapses from both teams. McAllister from Ezell led all scorers with 23 points. She was definetely the difference in the game. She made alot of tough shots to lead her team.

Congrats to Hillsboro on gaining back your focus and winning the championship game!

  15. The winner is 2 Easy to pick /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

I think that Hillsboro will be the champions of this particular tournament. Ezell has a team full of shooters but they don't have the size to hang around with Hillsboro. It should be a pretty well-rounded game if Ezell's shooting is on and Hillsboro's Crouch, Harrison, and Pace bring the inside presence!
