  1. R1-AA match-ups are set as follows:

    D2-4 Chuckey-Doak at D1-1 Elizabethton

D1-3 Happy Valley at D2-2 Grainger

D1-4 Sullivan East at D2-1 South Greene

    D2-3 Greeneville at D1-2 Unicoi

I think District 1 played out like most expected. However, there were maybe some surprises in District 2.

I'm afraid the road will come to an end for Happy Valley and Sullivan East on Friday. Elizabethton is the best team in this, but you can't overlook any team with 22 wins as C Doak has. I'm going to predict that Elizabethton will be the only Dist 1 team that comes out of Friday's matches...

  2. The Lady Devils defeated the Lady Warriors and the Lady Cyclones handled the Lady Patriots yesterday. The championship will be decided tomorrow between EHS and UC while the consolation will include HV and SE. Should be two good matchups. Go Lady Cyclones!

Should be all Cyclones! Too much talent for anyone else in the district...HV and SE could be a good game

  3. With Betsy and Unicoi receiving byes to the semis of the district (and both deserved too) I see them meeting in the finals of the district with Betsy taking home the trophy. Nobody in the conference has been able to hang with them this year. Betsy has a great chance to go a long way this post-season!

I apologize for not ranking our teams last week, but I have been crazy busy at work. The regular season is winding down and the tournaments are set to begin this week. It should be fun and I hope all our teams play to their potential and stay injury free. Good luck to all! Here are the final rankings:

1.Elizabethton-AA-(27-1)- Perfect season ended last night in Knoxville at CAK, but the Lady Cyclones still have earned this spot. They can relax now and refocus on their lofty goals. Have fun ladies and I wish you well on your quest. Go Cyclones!!!!!!!

2.Hampton-A-(20-7)- I have been drinking the Lady Dog kool-aid all year and they have proved they are a force. Recent wins over North Greene and Cloudland clinched the District title. A trip to Murfreesboro is very possible. Go Lady Dogs!!!!!

3.Unicoi Co.-AA-(20-7)- Finish at Cloudland Tuesday. It has been an up and down ride, but more up than down for the Lady Devils. If Edwards is back, and I think she is, this will be a team nobody wants to draw in the tournaments. Go Lady Devils, unless you play Betsy...lol!!!!!!

4.Cloudland-A-(18-8)- Tough finish at Chuckey-Doak Monday and host Unicoi Co. Tuesday. The Lady Landers are young and have been bounced around a bit late, but had Hampton beat. If things fall right, this team could wind up in Murfreesboro. Go Lady Landers!!!!

5.Happy Valley-AA-(14-8)- A quiet 14-8 and 3rd place District finish. They will make the regional tournament and could pull an upset if they get overlooked. Step one of Coach Gould's rebuilding effort has been a success. Go Lady Warriors!!!!!!

6.Unaka-A-(7-21)- It has been a tough season on Stoney Creek, but the tournaments bring new hope and new life. I am sure the Lady Rangers would love to play spoiler and knock someone off in the District or Region and anything is possible. Cox and Wilson have had good careers. Go Lady Rangers!!!!!

7.Johnson Co.-AA-(1-22)- We have a WIN!!!!!! The Lady Longhorns got the first win in the Coach Whittemore era by beating Holston,Va. Next year will be better! Go Lady Longhorns!!!!!!

  4. The Three Rivers Conference has not been too competetive for Elizabethton this year. I feel that even Unicoi is a notch below Betsy this year... The District will be Betsy's to hoist this week and they probably will not be tested until the Regionals get underway. I almost wish that they would bring back the Greene County teams to get some excitement during the regular season. To make Coachh17 happy: Go Cyclones!

  5. I don't know what they will call this district. Who will be East's qb? Gaby graduated, and he was their MVP last year.

I believe the new conference is called The Three Rivers Conference...I don't think people will overlook North this season. Anyone of four teams (North, East, Elizabethton, Johnson County) I feel could the title next season. There should some good matchups..

  6. MoWest is as focused now as I have seen them, playing smart and strong. They have 5 on the floor who are ALL a major scoring threat. They have come together and it is obvious they are totally focused on one game at a time. Hate it for the rest of the IMAC. Never thought that would happen. GO LADY TROJANS!!!!

I thought the IMAC would have at least 3 playing for the title...Central is playing well right now...But West certainly has to be the favorite to take the Regional title.

  7. In order for Unicoi to have a chance, they're going to have come out with a lot of intensity. I've seen them this season not come out with intensity in some games. But I think it will be there with all that is on the line with this being an elimination game. Another factor will be if the refs let a lot of the physical play occur. If they do, advantage South Greene...should be a great game.

  8. Oops!

I think the Big 9 teams improved a lot in the last few weeks of the season. SH made great strides, TN solidified their team, and Central turned it on in the conference tourney.

Also think the IMAC usually underestimates the Big 9.

That being said, the lone IMAC team will still win the region. Probably over TN High.

Congradulations to the three Big 9 winners yesterday...I didn't think they would get 3 wins but again that's why you play the games. I would like to see someone knock off West but I don't know if that will happen...

  9. With the new Three Rivers Conference being formed, Elizabethton and Unicoi should be able to be the 1-2 punch...Happy Valley, Johnson County, Sullivan North, and newcomer Sullivan East will likely be playing for spots 3-6....The South Greene rivalry that has taken place for the past 3 years will have to hold off til Regionals unless of course these teams schedule a regular season game....

  10. I look for Tn High, D-B, Science Hill, and Central to advance to the region. Volunteer has been a hot team lately and could give Science Hill trouble in the first round. I don't feel anyone from the lower half of the conference has a chance "on paper" but its tourney time and anything can happen on a given night...

  11. By virtue of Happy Valley's win against Eliz last night, it is a winner take the number #2 seed Monday night. Should be a great game. I'm sure Unicoi will have a little more intensity than they came out against North on Friday. If they don't, they'll be in trouble. Winner gets W Greene in the 1st round of Districts; loser gets Johnson Co...

Happy Valley will end with the 5 seed and a meeting with Chuckey-Doak in the districts. That should be a great match-up! Unfortunately, one of the season's "spoilers" will have to go home. The winner will most likely get South Greene who gets "the victors" prize of North in the first round....

  12. Unicoi Co. started out very sluggish against North and fell behind 7-4 until a timeout by Coach Fisher cured everything in rout to a 60-27 victory and with a win against Betsy on Monday, would give them the 2 seed since they beat the #1 seed SG...

If Chuckey-Doak can hold serve against West Greene I believe they will be #4...We still have to await the outcomes tonight before all the pieces fall into piece for the district seedings...

  13. Coach Anderson was a good basketball coach who had a little bad luck with injuries and transfers last year but left a good foundation for Coach Myers to work with and he has rose to the occasion with another big win Thurs. against a tough Central team. Districts should be fun to see what happens now that Volunteer has a little confidence in their corner...

  14. If I remember correctly, you stated earlier in the season that no district team could beat the Rebels. I stated that I liked the way you were thinking and reminded you that "pride goeth before the fall". I wish Elizabethton had done it, but congratulations to Unicoi Co. for knocking off the Rebels on their home floor. Maybe the loss will serve to motivate the Rebels to a District and Region championship, but I do not think anybody will lay down and hand the crowns to them. They will have to earn it and it will not be easy.

When these teams (South Greene, Elizabethton, and Unicoi) meet for the 3rd and maybe 4th times this year in the next couple of weeks in District and Regional play, it will be "all out war" and nothing will come easy...I agree with coachh17 that no one will lay down to SG.
