  1. Mt. Juliet coach Fryer beats up on poorly coached teams through out the year but come tournament time he folds like a cheap tent. Bud Brandon will adjust his defense or adjust to the situation. Fryer he is so predictable he will not adjust to what is thrown at his team. Running the table in district means nothing. Give me victories when it counts...in tournaments. His girls came out against Central on Monday not ready to play thinking and playing as though they could walk thru this game. Even after halftime same old thing...nothing no adjustments. Give me 5 losses in the regular season but give me Region wins. Fryer is not a big game coach.

  2. My prediction is Mount Juliet will beat Riverdale by 10 points. MJ lost at home after leading by 18 at halftime. They then reeled of 25 straight wins by totally shutting down District-9. They are playing as well as I've ever seen them and I saw every game this yr. To go to Clarksville and beat them after they destroyed Station Camp scoring 93 points and shutting them down to only 38 pts in there house :bored:

Britt Bell is all over the court, Caya Williams is a monster down low and those guards can knock down some threes. I look for a re-match in the finals with MJ and Clarksville.

  3. What a great defensive job those girls did on Clarksville. Britt Bell has really been playing out of her mind. Caya Williams is unbelievable and unstoppable. Chelsea Brown is the unsung star for her defense. Helen Mitchner and Emily Gurchiek...great job doing the dirty work.

I smell Gold Ball #4 :thumb:

  4. the girls coach got teed up as the teams were shaking hands and the MJ coach said something to the official and he teed him. the coach continued off the court and stayed to watch the boys play afterwards from court side.

he was also in the stands the next night to again watch the boys game. i believe the school will get fined and he gets a hand slap.

  5. Wow one senior huh...I saw them at Hendersonville and they do wrestle good as a team. Several kids have great wrestling skill...that Bates kid looked good. I heard his name mentioned while I was there. When is the Chattanooga event?

So winning the Region Duals sends them to Chattanooga for the State? Is there a wrestling website anywhere?

I have really got into this sport....very exciting.

  6. There you are MJ, welcome back.

Congrats to the "Mighty Kittys", they got-er-done! Don't want to get all gushy because there's a date at the new SuperCave.

The team looked good and I think Jessy and Kelsey had 4 petty solid quarters.

    Keep up the good work Ladies! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Well in my observation of the game I thought Jasmine looked out of shape. I know she suffered with a stomach virus all week but still. Her experience helped her but the freshman Williams played outstanding to the future 2-Time Miss Basketball. Christopher hitting those 4 three's was the difference in the game. MJ's Chelsea Brown was a bust on offense going 0-7 in shooting. Carissa Peterson also needed to make shots and did not 3-10FG. As Pat Summitt teaches...rebounding cost the Lady Bears. Both Hassell's, Kelsie McGee and Lauren Wasson dominated the boards.

First half the Lady Wildcats had a 15-5 rebounding advantage.

MJ will win on there court but then in the Districts that is when things will tell.

Good game to watch and a good test for MJ's youth and that my friends will go along ways come March 09.

  7. Wow i cant believe more isnt being said about this game. It seems like every year there are pages and pages on this topic. I never thought id say i would miss all of those old Mount Juliet fans, but they were fun too argue with. Well heres my pick for friday night. Central's experience is to much for the Lady Bears. I pick Central by 9. Good Luck Lady Wildcats. Ill be making the trip from clarksville hope to see you all there /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Mailman...its just too early to get into it. The first meeting means something, just not like the second one or the tournaments. MJ is going to need sophomore Emily Gurchiek who is out with a broken hand later in the year. I predict Central will win at home but like I said wait till the re-match when it gets down an dirty.

    GO BEARS!!!

  8. I really hate to ask and not trying to spread rumors but I just heard that maybe Jessy Christopher, the point guard at Wilson Central hurt her knee again?

I know last year in the District 9 tournament she hurt it.

    Just asking.... /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

  9. MJPride...you are correct, Caya Williams is just a freshman and only getting better game by game. I was ask the question today...will she be as good as Jasmine Hassell at Wilson Central? I said no...better.

Freshman Helen Mitchner playing the point and doing a great job of ot turning the ball over and hitting the three ball when needed...awesome.

What the Lady Bears are doing is remarkable. Two freshman, two sophomores and a junior starting and winning at Shelbyville and at an always tough Beech team. Then they handle LaVergne who should challenge for the District 9-AAA championship at home is mind blowing.

This team will surpass all expectations this season.

    Go Lady Bears

  10. It's amazing that MJ can keep the tradition going yr after yr. Coach Fryer in my book is the best HS basketball coach in the state. Watching McGavock, Hunters Lane and Cane Ridge's athletes and just what could Fryer do with those teams. He gets the most at of his girls and has them coached up ready to play.

Some credit goes to Middle School coach Rick Johnson. He runs the same schemes Fryer does and the dedication and hard work starts there.

I love watching teams with the passion and dedication to excellence and the Lady Bears strive at it.

  11. Caya did look well, and the team responded at crunch time. The Lady Bears are young, and played a bit that way at times - but will without a doubt be in it all the way in 9AAA. Need to work on free throws, but that should come.

Caya is very quick footed, loved her moves to the basket!

That is so good to hear about Caya, she is going to do great things under Coach Fryer's coaching.

This will no doubt be coach Fryer's besting coaching ability with this young team. Replacing the Becca Sharpe at the point with another freshman - Helen Mitchner, will again be key in handling the tough Dist. 9-AAA pressure.

Shooting the outside shot and as you say improve the free throw shooting will come with youngsters.

This bunch should be fun to watch this year.

    GO BEARS!!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  12. I totally agree that Wilson Central, Springfield and Gallatin all on the road are behind us now we can enjoy playing football in the BEAR PIT.

The Bears maybe 1-2 but they were in every game and with any luck could have been 3-0. But with a young team mistakes happen.

    MJ-27

    Portland 7

  13. Last time at Mt Juliet, Shelbyville didn`t do to well. How do you see this rematch at Shelbyville.

Shelbyville having Alex Jerrell back at the Post will help. Last game at MJ she did not play. After what Shelbyville did to Wilson Central a couple weeks back...oh my.

Pride means a lot...but...the District tournaments start next week and going into the tournament on a High would be big for both programs.

I know more about the Lady Bears so I believe in the concept of playing every game hard to win and not saving anything or leaving anything on the table.

Mt. Juliet has won the last three...so I believe the Lady Bears at the buzzer.

  14. Been hearing Waves coming from Gallatin insiders that Head Coach Kim Kendrick is retiring after this season.

Coach Kendrick I believe is the longest tenured coach in 9-AAA.

No doubt the Green Wave ladies are falling on hard times. One of her senior starters quit the team acouple weeks ago.

We'll miss her if in deed the rumor is true. He always brings very competitive teams and a well coached team.

  15. Now that Antioch High's Michael McAdoo has announced he is attending North Carolina on a football ride, how many basketball games has he missed?

I read that Wilson Central's Travis Adkins missed a game last Saturday against Shelbyville while he was in Cookeville on a football recruiting trip at Tenn Tech.

    Business is business but how does a basketball coach deal with this and teammates as well. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
