  1. Schedule update****

Chiefs will play at home on Thursday (March 20th) against the Heritage Mountaineers

    Game time is 5:00pm

This game was not on our schedule!!

Make sure you pass the word, we need another big crowd!!

  2. well the ole Cats came out with the win

Chiefs Win! Beat sweetwater 7-4. this was behind a good pitching performance from Freshman D. Allen. He pitched 6 innings - 4 runs - 6 hits - 4 K's - 1 BB. So much for that big Cat attack! We made way too many mistakes the first game or we would have got the sweep! Go Chiefs!!

  3. I agree with U about Jock Black. He could help this team this year. he needs to jump in with both feet and learn to make up for lost time, but the tallent is there. Looking forward to spring practice. GO CHIEFS!! /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

Did you get a chance to see Nick Brummett play this last year? I heard he had a pretty good season. He is not playing baseball this year, he wanted to work out for football. I think he is planning to play baseball next year as well as football. Go chiefs!

  4. Spring ball may actually start May 1( not confirmed yet) The Rhea scrimmage is a little up in the air right now if we have that scrimmage it will be May 13. One of our fall scrimmages will be Coalfield at there place. The O-line/D-line will attend a camp June 28-30 at Then University of North Alabama in Florence. Coach Hudspeth does a great job down there and runs a great camp. The kids will get a lot out of it. The also have a skills position( I hate that term, lineman are skilled too!)camp the same time. Coach G is not sure if we will send any or not but the lineman is a done deal we are going. It will $195.00/kid all meals are included, they will need some spending money for snacks and such. We will have some car washes and maybe even a roadblock to try and raise some funds to offset the cost. It will be a great chance for our line to bond and set the tone for fall camp. We will average over 200 lbs up front and right now go 220, 250 on the right side. I like to have a set 5 and then 2 that can plug in anywhere. We are going to look at J. Jubar at a o/line position in spring. We will have a lot of versatility with Peels who can play either guard and tackle, did real well as a freshman, has great feet needs to get alot stronger. With Bell and Steinhart on the rt side I like our chances of lining up and running it at just about anybody. John Ray did a great job of stepping in at center last year, very intense, smart, never takes a play off, needs to get stronger, Peels and Workman are good young ones with a year under there belts the sky is the limit for those two. They must work on being more consistent, get stronger and trying to dominate every play, which I believe will come as they have gotten a year older and more confident.Workman can also play either tackle and center. The best thing about that group is they are all great kids and work there butts off, they want to be not just good but dominate. I told them the other day not to get the big head because they haven't done anything yet but all the ingredients was there for them to be able to strap this team on there backs and carry them. We must developer some depth with the young ones and there are several with potential they just have to prove it. I believe Coach K has agreed to let the JV baseball players start spring before baseball is over. BTW Coach K is doing a great job with baseball, it may take awhile but they WILL be better.

There will be a liftathon coming up to raise some money(can't remember the date) We will have the golf tournament May 3 so get signed up, flyer's will be out any day. GO Chiefs!!!!

Thanks for the update! Besides J. Jubar, are there any other potential postion movements being kicked around?

  5. Game one Vs Polk - 14-4 Polk - Overpowered!!!! Polk (3) HR's, Including (1) Grand Slam

Game two vs Polk - 11-4 Polk. We played some better this game. Freshman D. Allen pitched terrific in relief on Tuesday. 4 IP - 2 hits - 1 Run. I think this team will be much bettter by the end of the season. We need to improve pitching and hitting and cut down on the young mental mistakes. Polk was a great team with solid pitching and good hittting from top to bottom. Fulton is up next! Keep your head up Guys! Go Chiefs!

Chiefs win!!!! Beat Fulton 14-4 on Thursday. Up next Sweetwater on Monday and Tuesday. Go chiefs! What do you know about The cats?

  6. they have 3 really good seniors this year.....and some really good jrs. Robby Gibson and Justin Branham is gonna lead this year in pitching. Along with some freshman Shane Cox and Josh Howard...and another freshman starter josh strong will help them in the field and batting. Robby Gibson led them last night in a win against tellico 6-2 and Matt Ellison came in for the save and only gave up 2 runs so the score was 6-4!

How did things turn out on Tuesday with Tellico? See ya monday @ SEQ. I think its going to be a good series. The Chiefs will be ready!

  7. April 30 is getting closer, does anyone know if the kids are getting excited? Will baseball players be allowed to participate in spring practice? How many eigth graders have been working out? How strong will our o-line be this year? Are we still slated to scrimmage Rhea County, if so when? Who is our fall scrimmage with? Tell me, tell me, tell me!!! GO CHIEFS!!!

Baseball players will get get to participate untill their season is complete. It's good to see the Brummett Kid (8th grader) working out. I think he can be a good player. Also good to see Jock Black working out. I think he can help this team. I know he has not played for a couple of years but when I had him he was pretty special. A lot of potential and tallent. Go Chiefs!

  8. I beleave they open against Polk Co., how do you think they will handle that team.

It will be a tough test! I know the game will be much closer than last year. Last year it was a total blow out! Maybe they will be obver confident!! Go Chiefs!

  10. Looking forward to this year hope we get off to a good start with our new coach, I like what I have seen so far. However, just playing good defense will eventually bite us we definitely need that one guy we can depend on to get us an out when we need it the most.

I think Webb will be the first option. We have got to hit and score runs!

  11. Are there any other young kids that are going to get some playing time on varsity?

I hope I don't leave anyone out. I think 3 more Freshmen will see some playing time.

    Eric Maxwell

    Dustin Peels

    Zack Helms

The future looks bright! Go Chiefs!

  12. Baseball is unlike any other sport, with a decent pitcher any team can win on any given day, hope Sequoyah gets a good pitcher to replace Mosier because that's the only way I see them being competitve in this District.

I think we will have two good pitchers and a lot of very young talent to develope. The Webb kid, who is a Senior and the Cagle kid who is a Junior. Both have showed a lot of improvement. I think our rotation will be much different from the past. Previous coach used mainly only two guys and I think Coach K will use his total staff. It shure would be nice to have that one ace (90mph) guy. We will just have to play great defense.

  13. I really think joining the other league is going backwards. I know the competition is great in the Sequoyah conference but these are the programs we compete with. Loudon, Sweetwater, Polk, with Riceville are usually the front runners for the conference. I know Madisonville had success in this conference several years ago. I think we just need to continue trying to get all these kids out. If you have good coaches and can get the high school coaches involved with the youth coaches and kids, I think that could help! I do think that a combined Middle School would benefit the High School the most! It would need to have a qualified certified Head Coach. At Maryville, we had a Junior High School team and the Head Coach was also an assistant coach for the high School. This way the middle school would directly work within the same system. Go Chiefs beat Sweetwater!

  14. To all,

I have been associated with many of you men and women for many years. I have sat back and read CoachT for over a year and have never posted until today! I want to make sure everyone knows that I am NOT slobber Knocker!! I would never slam any child or coach for that matter in any open public forum. I personally think that JRR is a fine young man. He has worked very hard during his high school career and deserves any post season honors that he has received. I have and still do support coach Summey and think our program is headed in the right direction! As a supporter of Coach Summey I believe in him and his decissions on volunteer coaches. As long as I am a supporter of Summey I will support his coaches. I think that Coach Roberts and Coach Davidson does a good job with the kids and have NO ISSUES with either coach. As for you people who have falsely accused me of being Slobber Knocker, I wish you would have got your facts correct before posting personal things about me and my kids!! Hopefully, all of this will come out in the open soon. I have nothing to hide from or behind!! Slobber you can be a man and come clean so myself and other innocent people and not blammed for something we have nothing to do with. Thanks to all those people that i have talked with and believe me when I explained myself! Go Chiefs!!!!!
