Follow the physical therapists instruction carefully right from the beginning, and there is no reason to develop pain on the front of your knee. The first few weeks are crucial, (and painful), but set the tone for the rest of your life, literally.
My daughter had her surgery yesterday. (patelar graft)They start PT on day 2 of post op. Seems fast to me..but I am totally trusting that this is the right approach. I do hope she transfers her "hustle" she showed for her team now to her rehab.
To the mom who said enjoy every moment they are playing....I thank you. I have gone to several games since the injury and I just can't help it. I get teared up. It seems so silly..Its only basketball. But after 10 years of games..of encouragement. of seeing how she has given her all and loves the sport, itis hard. I still recall the little 6 year old, who came to me..momma they won't give me the ball. And I said well then honey you just take it...and she did:>) I am glad that I am not abnormal in feeling this loss.

westmoreland has the best coach...but she has been hit with a lot of bad luck this year. Only starter from last year out with injuries. Another senior out with injuries. All starters hardly had any playing time last year..and 2 freshman starting. Lady eagles been hit with bad luck this year. Is ok..the time to win is coming

If you all notice westmoreland has there only starter from last year out for the season with injuries. Another senior is also out for the season. with injuries. The girls playing now had very little if ANY time last year. Heck they have 2 freshmen starting. Sometimes the odds are just against a team winning. The girls in the beginning of the season were on the fast track to winning. in spite of loosing all their seniors, The westmoreland eagles just hit some poor luck. In the beginning of the season they beat every team they played except one..and should have beat that one too. Any wins over Westmorleand now..I attribute to so many of their players being down and the others trying to mesh in a team that has faced tremendous odds. ..not to any skill from opposiing teams. Just my opinion.
Hope everyone enjoys the wins now..cuz the EAGLEs will again fly high. Theirs some good lil players coming up. We will see how the scores fall next year..and the next.

My daughter and her best friend are both out of basketball due to ACL injuries. My heart just breaks for them. They have worked so hard and come so far.It was their time to shine, Both are seniors this year, so the surgery and rehab will not be done in time to help them play. They each have different Doctors/Surgeons and each is recommending a different surgical approach. Now I am getting nervous. Our surgeon came highly recommended by the athletic trainer at the school. We really like his manner.But a person just can't afford to make a mistake.
I am very curious to know how your surgery went. Did you go ahead with the patellar one? I have been told that one (patellar)doesnt work very good for woman,,,but that is the one my daughter is scheduled for.

I was there and it was a nail biter all the way through. Both teams played good...westmoreland held it together and seemed to play really smart. Both teams played hard and it seems at a few points it could have gone either way. i thought Westmorleand, considering what a new team they have did remarkably well.

WOW what a game.Up to the last second it could have gone either way.Although it didnt go the way I wanted, it was a good game, with both teams fighting to win hard. I was SO proud of the westmoreland eagles.For a little school, we have gone far.with an outstanding record and good sportsmanship. Keep going girls..You have made us proud. .from
