  1. If Winn, Yates, Thomas, and a starting offensive/defensive lineman were all out for the season in a 1 week period, you would be batting more than an eye.... you'd be heartbroken. Those positions are what we lost. UC had a total of 18 players (yes I said 18) with some sort of broken bone/torn ligaments/slipped disk issue during the season. We comment on the injuries but players and coaches say "next man up". Our young players played hard, Kennedy (fullback) was a warrior. We played hard, we competed, we limited fumbles, but Dresden better team. That's how it is sometimes.

  2. I figured that they had unless a family moves since they would have to sit a year otherwise .I think we have players now that know the best is yet to come. Some of the ones that left may think the grass was greener at Dyersburg and Dyer Co and they may win games, may go to a first or second round game .But not going to win a championship and make their community proud.

agree.  They can go to Dyersburg or Dyer county and be just another player, or stay home and be a hero.  I don't think there are any LC student athletes that are in UC that I know of.

  3. It's sad indeed Swo...the old adage is that anything can happen on a given day, but at the extremes here that goes out the window. There's no justifying Middleton driving up there for the slaughter, and before folks jump on UC for running up the score, the last 11 kids on the roster would have beaten Middleton to a pulp running one play up the gut all night. Of all the possibilities that could have happened, most were negative. UC didn't get better...fans didn't enjoy it from either team... probably no money was made...kids could have been injured...and most important...Middleton's players are just kids, and should not be subjected to that kind of embarrassment and risk with no reward. I'm no guru, or the smartest guy In most rooms, but the TSSAA needs to come up with some minimum level of performance to qualify for the playoffs...there were some pretty decent teams that didn't make it, and I'm not here to argue their case, but they would have been much better than the sacrificial lambs that were sent to UC just to round out the numbers.

Maybe if you can't manage a 5-5 record, there should be a play in game from a different region to fill the spot?

Agree. Most of UC starters out midway through 1st quarter.
  4. I thought we moved on from that. For 38 games Union City stood in the middle of the field and did some sort of grenade drop where everyone fell down. This was led by their coach. I never had a problem with it. I always thought the answer was find a way to beat them. Most people in most towns find that display classless and in poor taste. That was the whole team doing it and led by coaches. We had one kid who rubbed y'all the wrong way and y'all paint us as villains. I look forward to the competition. As for the other, move on. We have great kids in our program. Tread lightly when speaking of children.

. Actually this age group is considered teenager, not children. Dropping a grenade in middle of field no worse than singing "hey, hey, hey, good bye" song at end of games, etc... What you will never see from UC is thug like behavior. Coaches and community do not allow it.
  5. Any news from camp? Fallguy? Atlas?

kids are healthy, practicing with good spirit despite the heat.  We'll be young across the line but we are bigger/stronger than last year (kinda like the line of 2013 championship year - young, strong, good kids, work hard, etc.  )  Maybe not the depth in speed that we have had in several years, but the starter speed guys are lightning. Keep healthy, compete, play physical, limit fumbles, we'll be tough to handle.

  6. Is union city supposed to be better than last year? If not I wouldn't put them in the top 5. Watched the game against dresden, and I wasn't impressed.

nauseating.  As Al Davis said, "Just win baby!"  UC will be a solid team again this  year. If we continue to compete, play physical and limit fumbles, we should do ok.

  7. Is dresden going to be good as last year. I was impressed with the pig stomping they gave union city.

What pig stomping was that?  UC won pretty handily last year.  This year may be different, only time will tell. Dresden returns a formidable senior laden team and a lot of confidence.  Again, lack of knowledge brings lack of credibility.

  8. With this much talent as y'all say I don't see why they keep dodging there small school neighbors in Kentucky. Maybe they can make there 3-20 record better against Mayberry.

actual record is 7-19 and 1 tie against Mayfield.  Obvious with lack of knowledge comes with lack of credibility.  The reason we have to travel to places out of state is to fill our season schedule.  No local teams or regional teams are able to fill in that date slot for whatever reason.  When you play in a large district and you have to play each team (8 of 10 teams on our 2016 schedule are district games) you fill other dates with teams that have open dates as well.  Not rocket science, no conspiracy, no dodging, just is what it is.
