1. Uknoittwo Are we still playing at SC? Let us know if HES is playing and how they are doing. They have had a good year and hope to watch this bunch in high school. They could be one of Hampton's better all time teams if they work hard and keep their heads on straight. Good luck Bulldogs.

  2.  Great job. Hampton players, coaches and fans are having a great season. Ned Smith has done a fine job with getting everyone to play together. It is hard to get players to buy into playing as a team and not thinking about how many points they need to score to be MVP. Some how Ned sold team ball to this bunch and they bought it. Hampton has won five regionals since 1982 and Ned has played or coached in all of them. Good luck and best wishes.

  3.    Hampton was won in the building but it has been awhile. I know they won when coach White retired the first time.  I was listening to the game last night and the radio said coach English was 110-9 in the building. Wow what a home court UC has.     Good Luck Bulldogs.

  4. To be the best you have to win. Going back in time the best have won districts, regionals, sub-states and made it to the state. My top ten at Hampton since 1970 are Barry Phillips, Kevin Ward, Tim Davis, Chris Wilson, Leon Tolley, Ned Smith, Mark Henry, Matt Cates, Tim Campbell, and Mike Matheson. There has been a lot of good players but to be the best I think you have to win. The book is still open on this years team. Until they win something I can't say they are the best.

  5. Great year for girls basketball in Hampton. This has been a super year for all of our girl's basketball teams. Girls basketball in Hampton is on the way up. With the success of our elementay and high school teams I can see the girl's programs in Hampton putting together many state bound teams. Super job Coach Tolley for a fine season. I think the girls program is in good hands. Coach Tolley should get a good crop of player for the next four or more years to come. With the players he has now and the ones coming on, I see Hampton as a true contender. Seniors, I would like to thank each of you for all the hard work you put into Lady Bulldog basketball. I wish each of you the best in whatever path you may take in life. You may not realize it now but what you take from basketball can and will help you at some time. To all of the underclass players, you now have a taste of state basketball, get in the gym, on the track, and in the weightroom. The 2010 state tournament starts today.

  6. QUOTE(CoachSH @ Mar 31 2007 - 09:05 PM) 826427354Tony Hardin won a State Title in Middle School in 83 at Hunter. I am not sure if there is anybody else in Carter County that has won a State Title that is living. Donald Ensor, Charlie Bayless, Tony Hardin

In the mid 70's Richard Ensor won a state championship,"but I think this was an invitational middle school tournment." Don't forget Treadway and Vanhuss.

  7. Here is a big stat to think about. Coach Jerry White in most years had five or six seniors on each of his teams. Out of those five or six most years two or three have graduated from college. I know college isn't for everyone. But this is a better stat than W or L. Good luck and best wishes.

  8. QUOTE(old44 @ Mar 28 2007 - 02:03 PM) 826425001Len Dugger helped a lot of kids in Carter County develop basketball skills, and not just kids from Elizabethton. I know he took many kids to camp at Gardner-Webb that would not have had a chance to go otherwise.

Amen: Len Dugger has helped or tried to help more kids from Carter County than all they other Coaches put together. And I know this for a fact, proud to have played for him.

  9. JUST WONDERING WHAT KIND OF MONEY DO THE PEOPLE WHO WORK FOR TSSAA MAKE? FROM MR. CARTER TO THE LOCAL REFS. I AM NOT SAYING THEY DON'T EARN IT. JUST WONDERING HOW YOU APPLY FOR ONE OF THESE JOBS AND HOW MUCH ONE COULD EXPECT TO MAKE. ALSO HOW MANY PEOPLE WORK FOR TSSAA.

  10. I think the shot clock is a good idea but i don't see schools in Tennessee using it because of cost and finding someone to run it. In NC there are some schools using a clock that the Refs hold the control to stop and start the time while calling the game. I don't think all the schools are using this but I think this is something for TSSAA to look into. Or instead of three refs on the floor use only two and let the third run the clock. The game would be just as fair with two refs as it is with three.

  11. QUOTE(HighSchoolFanatic @ Feb 22 2007 - 12:53 AM) 826384030Is West Greene a misprint? lol

Yes, West Greene they had some good teams in the early 80s.

Someone also said Kingsport went to the state in 83. I can't remember if they did or not. I know they had some good players that year.

  12. Hampton and Cloudland can't both go because they are in the same bracket. But one of these teams and UH could go I think it did happen in 83. In 83 two teams from the district; Hampton and UH. Two from the county: Hampton and Elizabethton. And two from the Watauga Con; Hampton and West Greene,"Hampton played in the Watauga even though they were 1A". All went to the state if I remember correct. I Can't remember if another 3A team was there. Help me out on this one. I Think this was the most local teams we ever had at one time at the state.

  13. CLOUDLAND AND HAMPTON: SHOULD BE A GREAT GAME, BUT NOT MANY PEOPLE WILL BE ABLE TO SEE THE GAME. THERE WON'T BE AN EMPTY SEAT IN THE HOUSE. MANY PEOPLE WON'T GO TO THE GAME KNOWING THIS. CLOUDLAND AND UNAKA NEED GYMS. HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN THESE TWO GYMS HOLD COMFORTABLE? 500-600? BUILD IT, WIN AND THE PEOPLE WILL COME.
