  1. Well yeah they are doing really good this year... I guess is just luck but you know in soccer you can never predict what the score is going to be...But yea Good luck Chester County... What about LEXINGTON??????

I have watched LHS play 4 times this year. This is what I observe:

sorry guys I don't know your names

99- Forward. He plays his positon very well. He is a great shooter and very patient. He will sit back out of the other teams radar get the drop and score before you know it. He not much of a runner, but he doesnt need to, the team sets him up for the goal.

8- MF (?) This is the captain. He knows the game and sets the players up for every play. He is a good passer and throws the ball VERY well. He doesn't rush to goal, but he is dangerous when it comes to setting up for a goal. I would suggest every team prepare their team for his vocal defence. He gets the other team frustrated and mistakes happen. Only down fall, he tends to get over aggresive, which could case 'card trouble' for LHS.

11,14,21- Watch out! These guys are great positonal players and know their role in the game. They will set up and sneak in and score (esp. 21). 11 does great set up passes and 14 is smart and knows what to do with the ball.

5 and Def- 5 is a box to box player. Not sure what postion he is suppose to play, but he is everywhere. Very strong and athletic. He can steal and pass the ball off quickly. LHS's def is strong if the ball ever gets passed midfield.

Other: They have good subs that give the starters a break.

This was probably more info than you wanted, but I watched these guys play at the FHU tourney. They are a smart group and figure out the other teams weakness quick. If you went to the FHU cup, you would know the field conditons were horrible (due to weather). They figured out how to move the ball thorugh the water and mud.

I would say their weaknesses are far and few. Don't get me wrong, there are some, but I don't want to call out the kids in a negative way. That happens too much on these boards.

I watched them beat several teams, including my own. I am impressed and I would reccomend no one take them lightly.

  2. How are teams in A/AA doing this year???

    Lexington?

    Dyer co.?

    North side?

    Madison?

    JCS?

    USJ?

I saw that Lexington beat Dyer co. 10-2.... Is lexington a good team or is Dyer co. not that strong??? /ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" />

Lexington is a good team, but DC is a very young program. No feeder schools, no area club leagues, and not alot of support. They got a new coach a few years ago that has really turned the program around...but it takes time in a football area.

DC and Northside played Sat in the Jackson Scrim. DC lost 2-1 without their leading forward. Then they played Haywood (who beat them 6-1 last year) and they only lost 1-0. Then DC played in the last game St. Benedict's varsity team. Benedicts is a Great team. It was raining, snowing, and sleeting..the temp was 24. DC lost 6-0.

DC is getting there...just going to take time to catch up to the other programs in the area.

  3. Here is my two cents. I am a Assistant Band Director and Coach. I was in band in high school and college. Band is NOT a sport..... here is my reasons

    1. In most cases you do not "Try Out for band" , yes in your larger schools there are the exceptions, but in most cases you do not.

    2. Before season, sports do this little thing called "conditioning" Yes, band has camp, but it is to practice what they will do the follow year.

    3. Sports are year round. Go by your local high school and you will see players practicing in the off season. You will not see kids marching on the band field.

    4. Band is competitive. BUT...... in sports if a player is not keeping up or making mistakes, the coach will pull them out. You will not see a director stop the performace and jerk out the kid who is out of step and sit him on the side lines.

I see a big difference in the two everyday. They are NOT the same.

  4. Yeah sounds like the coach I know... cause he doesn't coach a school team and he usually plays on Wednesdays... He also likes to have his team work as hard as possible during games!

I went to the AAU game of the Suns and Semo (DC and Missouri) DC won 115 to 69 they played 5 quarters. It was a great to watch the "DC style" with some big kids. If these kids come to DC, the future is bright.

  5. Were you shocked by the the way Dyer Co. man-handled Covinton? 107-83 I bet the Chargers were wondering where the team was that they battled to a 2 point lose earlier in the year.

Dyersburg loses to Haywood 56 44 Great Season Trojans!!!! DC will go to face Haywood.......to be continued

  6. I'm not sure of what the best single game performance was, but Dyer County has one of the best 3pt shooting duo's, if not trios, in the state. Justin Blake and Rex Pierce can both shoot the lights out anytime, anyplace. If you add in Di'Angelo Parr when he gets hot, DC is absolutely unbelievable from "downtown". When they get on a roll, Blake and Pierce can shoot in traffic just as well as they can wide open. Blake may be even better with someone in his face. It's really fun to watch.

  7. For BTW to get to the state they will have to meet up with Dyer County some where down the line. If they are not any better than last year , they may get their first loss against Dyer Co. The Choctaws are alot more faster and more fundamentally sound than ever before. The Choctaws swarming defence is awesome to watch. When they go to the bench they don't miss a step. It's like they are all mirrors of each other. They almost won the Gold Ball last year, they are hungry to go back and get it this time. Thats my two cents for what it's worth.

I hope this game happens, because I can't wait to see it!!! I was so impressed last year by BTW on and off the court. I am a Choctaw faithful, but when these guys to DC they were the most respectful team I had seen all year. I am not sure of his name, but the "Tall" guy is what he was referred too, was very nice to my young son and lifted him so he could be as tall as him. I think we forget to mention the good things outside about these kids, so I want just share that. Back to basketball...BTW played hard, but in the end the DC got the edge. As DC celebrated, they were in shock and stood on the floor. BTW will be ready this time and not underestimate "the little team from somewhere called Newbern" (stated by a Memphis radio station) This game will be one for the books, because DC wants state and BTW is the wall. Good Luck to both teams, BUT I am pushing for a return trip to the BORO!!!!

    GO DC!!!!!!

  8. I'd give yall a very good chance. You guys have got to beat Milan to really cement your place. They were a tough team last year, and really suprised us, but lost their exchange players and a lot of good seniors. Gibson County and Trenton should be easy wins. No clue about Humbolt as this is there first year to have a team, however i'd guess them not to be to great because neither I nor anyone i know has played with a guy from humboldt(that i know of). Are yall playing Westview at home or away? I know you'll have a tough game at our house, but if yall get things together, then yall will have a shot, My prediction for yall is wins over Peabody, GC and Humbolt, draw Milan, lose to Dburg and Westview

Good Post!! DC is returning all of its players(but one senior) and have added some talented freshman. Also, they have set realistic goals. The team is focused on winning, but improving is the important thing. We have a tough schedule, but that was done on purpose by the coach /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> Dyersburg and Westview's programs are years ahead of DC, but we have eager and talented kids that can hold their own. I am interested in seeing Humbolt. They only thing I know about them is they are co-ed, but we are not going to underestimate anyone. With a new offensive line-up, new goalies, and an AGGRESSIVE defense, I see DC raising some eyebrows this year.

  9. IN reference to your comment about the facilites at DHS, the current facility has only been in existence approximately 3 - 4 yrs. I feel that what we have is more then adequate enough for the fan support. The DHS vs. Dyer County game is perhaps the only sell out game either school has during the regular basketball season, I really do not think it would be economically smart to invest in anything better then what we currently especially for a one game a year sell out, we pay enough taxes as it is. I can also remember that not too long ago these games were not as enticing or supported as they have recently become, the Trojan fans always seemed to show up as they still do but not very long ago Dyer County Fans came but definitely they were not as supportive as they have been the past 2 seasons.

Don't misunderstand me, I agree and understand that you "can't build a gym over night". I also remember not to very long ago that Dyersburg had the "better" facilities and were very adament to let every DCHS student know that. I also agree that two years ago, myself and about 30 other people where the only fans at the DC games. BUT as I have said to many people and I mean no disrespect "The Times Are Changing" Now the younger kids have travel ball and AAU. More kids are exposed and trained at a variety of different sports. Both programs will grow, but that BANDWAGON effect will take place. New school, new teaching methods, winning teams are alot more appealing to the junior high school student. Dyersburg has and will always excel, no matter what their "house" is. As you stated"it would not be economically smart to invest in" , BUT for years it has been shoved in the Choctaw community face about how great the DHS alumni and supporters are and how high they are on the economic ladder. It may be hearsay, but I was a county kid and all I have ever heard is how much the local supporters pump into that school. I just always expected that the "one up attitude" would go on forever. I guess I was wrong. No DHS should not center improving their facilities around one game, but why not, they treat that game as though it is above all else. Let me explain before I get labeled as a Trojan "hater". If DC loses to DHS, we move on with our every day lives. We leave the coaches and the players alone. Now, if DHS is defeated by DCHS it is all that is focused on for the remainder of the season. Not the success, effort, or excellent coaching, DHS supporters seem to focus on "WHAT HAPPENED, HOW COULD YOU LET DC BEAT YOU?"

  10. The Dc student section didn't seem very animated, apart from the dunk (Which was Awesome!) I think they did only 1 cheer the entire time"just like football."The blackout in the Dburg section looked pretty cool, and they were sure there in force. I thought the game's officiating could have been better, but it wan't as bad as what i've gotten used to

In DC students defense, when they first got there several of DHS students (or at least they had jackets on) were in there section. It took alot of time to get someone to come and get them to move. The students were spread out everywhere. It is also hard for the students (both sides) to have a good time when adults insist on sitting with them and complaining the whole time that they can see. (which happens way too much) I feel that both sections were unusually quite last night. This is such and emotional game and alot of hype goes on the days before. Also, it is getting to the point where DHS gym can't handle this game. I hope in the near future they can get the facilities to back up their great program. Being a devoted DC fan, I dread but can wait for this game every year. Congrats to both teams on an enjoyable night of basketball!!!

  11. Officiating in this game was terrible. Fortunately, it was terrible in every way, towards both teams. I felt there were a lot of body fouls called but very few that should have been on reach in fouls. DC has a very good team, but I think they should have had more reach in calls. OC played well, but committed several fouls inside on defense and got themselves in foul trouble. Harner got called for 2 fouls less than a minute into the game, both being questionable. But OC got away with a few as well. 10 point game with about 5 minutes to play, and DC made a late run.

OC had 31 turnovers, of which about 75% were due to pressure. They were flustered early but fought back into the thick until 3 starters fouled out toward the end. DC has a good press, but I felt the Rebels worked well against it. Gilliam had a good game, although he tired some at the end. Kid is a player though, and could start on most any team.

Great effort Rebels. Definitely headed back in the right direction. Bounce back on Friday at Crockett County.

    Go Rebels!!!!!!!

Everytime I see the OC they have improved!!! I am a die hard Choctaw fan, but I was impressed by all of Obion's players. I don't know his name but #3 was the MVP of the game. Great Job Obion, good luck the rest of the year!!!
