  1. Should be some great games tomorrow night. With Eagleville and Forrest splitting in the regular season, both winning by 13, this one will be all about who shows up. I think if the Porter kid and the Davenport brothers are on target, and they can establish a post game and get some rebounds eagleville will take it.

Community better count on scoring more than 30 if they plan on beating cascade. Who knows, this district has been full of surprises all year. Looking forward to some great games.

  2. Not trying to overlook the region championship, as I think its going to be a good one, but what do you guys think of the Sectionals matchups? CA and Eagleville will either be playing Collinwood or Summertown. Both teams have very impressive records, including Summertown having scored 100+ atleast 5 times this year. Even scoring 127 in one game. However, looking at the schedules both Collinwood and Summertown have losses to Forrest? Seems pretty strange to me. So maybe the strength of schedule they have played is down? Either way there are going to be some great basketball played in this next week. Im looking forward to the Region Championship.

  4. It saddens me to see all of the negative comments that have been posted on this board over the past few weeks. As a former player and student, I have had the opportunity and privilege to play for almost all of the afore mentioned coaches and have had nothing but great experiences.

I would first like to address the bashing of the school administration. This is not the first time that the Athletic Director Ricky Jones and the Principal Tony Donen, have gone through the hiring process for the head coaching position at this school. As a matter of fact, this is the same administration that has continued to bring in coaches that have prevailed and succeeded in winning ways. Let??™s see, where I should start:

In 2000 they hired Coach Tommy Rewis, he completely turned this entire football program around. Interested in taking his coaching career to a higher level and also wanting to be closer to his family, he accepted a coaching position of a 5A program in East Tennessee.

While under Coach Rewis, the defensive coordinators name was Jason Eubanks. He would move on to coach Heritage Middle School and eventually be named 5A Independence High Schools Head coach, where he is still located today, leading them to the state championship in his first year.

Preceding Coach Rewis the administration then hired Coach Mark Matykiewicz. Also interested in furthering his future as a coach and interested into moving into the college ranks, Matykiewicz accepted the position at 5A Centennial High School were he has continued to win football games.

Preceding him was Coach Whitefield, which in my opinion has proven himself as a great coach in just two years at Fairview, and hopefully will have the opportunity to continue the great tradition of past Fairview coaches. Sadly something did not work between him and the administration; this is a business and sometimes things just don??™t work out. Although I wish him the best of luck in his future.

It seems to me that this so called ???Unprofessional??? administration that some of you continue to bash has successfully found GREAT coaches over and over. Unfortunately for Fairview all of these coaches wanted something more and used Fairview as stepping stones to continue towards success in their careers. You cannot fault the administration for having to continually find coaches, however I believe they have done a great job filling the position over the years if I do not say so myself.

As far as the continued bashing of Coach Hughes and his potential, and the fact that he is a middle school coach is just pathetic. As mentioned before Coach Jason Eubanks coached at Heritage Middle School. He then joined Independence as a Defensive Coordinator, only to move up into the Head Coaching Position to lead his team to the State Championship Game against Smyrna.

Coach Hughes seems to be someone who is interested in winning football games for this town and team.

This is suppose to be about the kids, instead of continually getting on a website were the players can go and read the continued bashing of all parties involved, lets look to the future and hope that the winning traditions of Football that have been brought to this town in the past ten years is here to stay.

Good Luck to the Fairview Football team, work hard this spring and summer and get over this second round playoff curse.

  5. If you want to speak about matchup and scores, wasnt moore county down at the half to NCS? A team that was down to eagleville the entire game in the region championship, most of the game double digits. Besides Eagleville played a very horrible game against cully, only hitting one three and missing atleast six layups. Just saying you can never say well this score that score, its a new season now. Should be one heck of a game.

  6. Poor sportmanship? The only time I beleive that was displayed was when Eagleville was receiving their trophy and posing for pictures and the Van Buren parents were yelling things at them. Dont try and bash a player simply because he didnt take a hand after he got shoved down. I stated before it was a great gesture by the VB player to try and help him up, great sportsmanship, however sometime when someone pushes you down you dont really want their help to get up. Best of luck in regionals Van Buren. You guys have one heck of a team.

  7. Yes VB didn't hit their shots last night like they did at Eagleville. If we had hit more of our threes last night it could have been a different ballgame. Farris had a good game last night hitting every three he shot I think and Smith hit one but the other guys couldn't buy one. I am not that upset over missing shots I kind of don't like to get out hustled after loose balls and not crashing the boards like we usually do. Also I noticed something last night that I had heard about some players on the Eagleville team. Not all of the players because most seemed like nice guys but when one of Eaglevilles players got knocked down toward the Eagleville fans and one of our guys went over to help him up he knocked our players hand away I don't think a player should do that.

Just in response to your "bad player or sportmanship quote", the eagleville player was being guarded pretty tightly and there was quite a bit of hacking going on. The van buren player then tripped the eagleville player and he fell to the ground. The van buren player then put a hand out to help him up and the eagleville player simply disregarded it, not hit it away. Im not sure, but I believe when someone knocks me down im not really going to be too worried or need that guys help to get up. It was a physical game and emotions were running high as the district championship was on the line. There is no need to get on here to try and bash an eagleville player for turning down an open hand, which was a nice gesture on the van buren players behalf, that had just shoved him to the floor moments before.
