  1. I am surprised to not see a topic about this game, especially since it is a key district game. Maybe everyone feels the way I do, and that is that LC doesn't stand a chance against this ball club. Hood probably won't even get a decent look at the basket, and Powers well really I don't even think he can ride Hoods coat tail in this one with a decent score outing.

Bearden wins by 20+, and yes I think LC can keep it this close since they should be playing against the subs mostly in the second half.

  2. Seriously though. I haven't seen catholic play yet, and I don't know how many players are coming from football. From what they return from last year I would assume they will compete with Stone and AC for the district. If they can finish top 2 of District then they will get to play 2 games in the region tourney, unfortunately we all know what happens in the second round of region.

  3. Yeah i think the top 4 teams will look like this...

    Oak Ridge

    Karns

    Clinton

Powell or Campbell County depending on how powell shapes up this year because i watched a few games and they really were struggling.

Good call on Campbell Co being below Clinton. They killed Clinton the other night. Another intelligent post there buddy. U need to watch your Powell Panthers and keep the basketball talk to the people that actually know what is going on.

  4. Bonfire and Beefstew, he's a 17 year old kid and when he is released by KOC he will begin to get ready for the season. If it was up to him he would have been back weeks ago. He is at every practice even the 6:00am ones. He should be ready at least by early December. AC beat CAK by 27 tonight.....Playing three substate teams(AE, Grainger, Fulton) in your first 6 along with Carter without your point guard will only help in the long run....Other kids are stepping up in his absence. Tournament time is all that matters....

Any word on Jordan now. The last I heard he will have to go back to KOC for another check. I figured he would comeback after AC played Carter and Fulton.

  5. little f.y.i., in 2006-2007 season, White House-Heritage, a A team, lost to Powell, 65-61. This is even the Powell team you said, "of the last few years that is"... That was just 1 game I found in about 2 seconds.. I am all for saying AAA is better and usually would blow out a A team, but like with everything, there are always exceptions.

Found another example.... This is an 18-17 Jackson Co.(A) vs. a 13-17 Heritage (AAA).

Jackson Co. lost to Heritage 55-48.

That same 18-17 Jackson Co. (A) team, lost to Cookeville (AAA- 16-12), 69-62 and 61-48.

Who Cares? This thread was supposed to be about best players in Knoxville.

  6. Here is the 5 guys I would want to build around.

    1) Jalen Steele -- Fulton -- Proven Player

    2) Ryan Click -- Maryville -- All around ball player.

    3) Skyler McBee -- Grainger County -- Need I say more

    4) Blake Jenkins -- Bearden -- Has more to prove then anybody.

    5) Demonte Simpson -- Bearden -- His size is tough to go against.

    Subs:

    Pryor -- Austin East

    Hood -- Lenoir City

    Lopez -- Austin East

This is where I would start if I wanted to develop an All-Star team. Not to say these are the best 8, but they should complement each other very well.

  7. LC should finish 3rd. They absolutely will be ahead of Farragut and behind Murvil and Bearden. Hood is an excellent player, problem is he has very little support. He has several mediocre players around him that benefit from the attention he draws. LC better do something this year and next, because the word on the street is they have a sophomore class that should just hang it up.

As for Wells being the best coach in the district you are crazy. Eldridge is by far the best coach, Blevins is second, then Coach Wells. That is not a knock on Wells, he is just not there yet. He knows the game very well, and once he improves his in-game decisions he will quickly become the 2nd best coach in the district. Sorry not first, Eldridge is the best game-time coach I have seen around this area.

  8. I take Coach Lockard over Coach Norris any day Coach Norris has great assistant coaches and great talent

I agree with the last post you can't possibly take lockard over anybody. He has done less with more talent then anybody in the state. Just imagine if Clinton would of had a decent coach the past 11 years. They would probably have had a couple of gold balls.

  9. he will play!

I don't think he'll play. I think he is scared of Longmire's developed game, and he doesn't want to play 2nd fiddle to him. If he does start to play, then as soon as he gets a bruise Daddy will pull him so he can take care of his investment.

  10. My limited understanding of the DDM is that after the intitial penetration, it is the "help" that triggers the offense into another penetration or shot. I just don't see how a sagging D stops the DDM.

It just jumbles up the inside, and forces a kick. The key to defending it is not just the help-side, but the recover after the help-side. Also, people say you can defend the DDM with a 2-3, but if a team reads the zone's gaps and week spots the DDM can be very effective. All in all their is very few teams in the state that should even consider this offense. You have to be super deep, and super athletic. Try this link to learn more http://www.coachesclipboard.net/DribbleDri...ionOffense.html

  11. Isn't it the rotation that is keying the offense? Seems to me that this type of D would only work with superior athletes. With equal athletes the DDM gets the nod over this D.

Why not clog the middle with a zone of some sort? Eliminates the penetration and forces outside shot. Just thinking outloud. Comments?

To stop it you need to have a sagging man to man with plenty of help-side defense. This makes the other team beat you from the outside. If you play against a disciplined man-to-man then they can shut you down pretty easily. If your athletic enough to actually run this offense then you will be successful, but then again if you are good you would be good with any offense you run.

  12. They might be the worst Ive seen in several years. They have a press (UT Style) that doesn't work. They try the dribble drive offense without the athletes to do it. They have a couple of athletes that can play, but the point guard is so selfish they never get to touch the ball. However, if they get hot from outside then they can stick around most teams for a while. They will shoot about 30 to 40 threes a game.
