  1. HAHAHAHA

Portland knew what they were doing in playing that game in that weather!

Not the greatest memory for me either, You may have forgotten, but I was coaching football then and locked one of our players in the locker room at halftime! Coach J never lets me forget that one.

  2. Great Post, Pitbull!

Proud to call you a fellow Seymour Alumni,

Good Luck to both teams tomorrow night,

    Go Lady Eagles

Be careful of the standing water on the sidelines!

20-something years ago, Seymour played Sevier County in Football in a monsoon and our all-state kick returner was tackled on the sidelines where the water was several inches deep, he was under water and in danger of drowning before the ref stepped in and unstacked the players.

    True story!

Bet you don't remember that one do you pitbull? Probably a little before your time.

  3. Wow.....it's still early but such a long way from a team that made a state appearance last season.....so do we think the new cap can get it on the right track and turn it around....

The girls are struggling with his system, and he fired his assistant coach last week! So things are looking bleak, But as you said it is early and we haven't played any district games yet.

SoccerReigns09 are you a seymour alumni?

  4. Anyone have any info on seymour and how they are fairing so far this season....how do they look....difference in style of play...anything at all

Five losses and no wins so far. Loses to Catholic, Maryville, Webb (twice) and Halls. The closest score was against maryville 2-0. Word is they look unorganized and out of shape.

  5. I heard Pro/Tool has put up a bundle like the " booster club " did for SCHS! I even heard some pretty big fish are now swimming around on our end of the pond! You go Pro Tool........ /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

    ?????????????????????

  6. will they hire one person for both or will they split the programs up?

    any teasers?

Both or split depending on how the interviews go.

Having done extensive research on successful programs in the knoxville area, I believe Seymour is looking for a coach with the first name Tom!

  7. Does it really matter, the boys have a 11 seniors this year. They could probably coach the team, but they will need a field and support. Was the position ever posted? Never saw it, if it was.

The position was posted until the 25th and several people have applied. Interviews are being held next week.

  8. [quote name='AlcoasPaintedBridge' date='May 16 2009 - 09:04 PM' post='827102345'

My problem with this episode today is that this coach simply picked the wrong time and place to send his message.

Tell the press you played your best, give the other team credit, wish them well and shut up.

Statements like this put him in a bad light when he could have addressed this issue at another time and place.

When does a soccer coach from Pigeon Forge, TN ever have a podium or arena to state his beliefs other than a time like this.

He has used the attention the past three seasons to make the same statement, it is the only time he is able to get the message in the media.

Don't bash him for stating what he believes.

Is this Miss California and perez hilton of Alcoa

    (if so it may explain Akula's hair) /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />

  9. Congratulations to CAK and to Carter, Sounds like a great game.

Congrats to Carter on the season they had this year, Coach Chunn has done a great job with those guys.

I Look forward to Cak vs Alcoa???

  10. Thanks ...soccer5 for the listing...any surprises? dissappointments? all well deserving...but hard not to see Alexander Haun Berean as Keeper of year...how do these get picked? what is the process?

these list are always up for debate and some great players get left off always...

Isaac Jordan Freshman at Berean had 21 goals and 19 assist...

Stone from Aloca was huge as a freshman as well...a lot of talent in this district would you not say...maybe even first team for these freshman?

The voting was very close for several of the superlatives, and the players in the running were all deserving of the honor!

I must say our process cannot be questioned as we use the selection method introduced by BigG himself when CAK was part of the district /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Seriously, G did introduce the method we use and I think it works well, the main thing is to get the kids as much recognition as possible, because they deserve it.

  12. Carter has had a very successful season and played one heck of a game vs. Alcoa.

Can they upset CAK who seems to be on a roll and playing very well right now?

CAK has been here often, very often, This is only the second time Carter has advanced to region in the past 6 years. I think the momentum and experience favors CAk. Carter has the best player in the state and if he gets rolling it could go their way. Hate to pick against my own district member but I think CAK will take this one.

    Good Luck to both teams.

  13. MW trust me, I thought about what I was writing before, during, and after I typed it. If I was a coach, I would have said the exact same thing, if not worse without the benefit of the time passed since the occurrence. First off, I did not use the young man's name intentionally. For those that were at the game, the seriousness of this matter would be evident. You're right, I am a grown man, 9 years removed from high school. If you'll remember correctly, I had a tough time with my temper at his age as well. It definitely hampered my performance in sports and also in life until I realized how detrimental my actions were not only to myself, but to those around me as well. Perhaps that is why I was so passionate in addressing the situation. Because I hurt for this young man as well. I am shocked, amazed, and hurt that you would not know me well enough already to know that my intent was not to kick this young man while he was down, but to help him realize the grandiosity of his actions. There were other seniors on this team, too, sir. They were playing in their last game as well. Unfortunately for them, I don't believe they were given a fair shake. I realize that you have more invested in this team than I, but in no way does that make my concern for their emotional well-being or future endeavors any less. Despite what your post seems to insinuate, I am neither heartless nor thoughtless. I can assure you that I do not derive any sort of devious pleasure from "degrading" a young man on an online message board. If this is the impression that you or other readers have gotten, I sincerely apologize. I respect you as a man as well as a fellow educator and hope that this incident will be a learning opportunity for all involved.

Wow, I am getting old if you have been out of school nine years already!

Let me say that I respect you as our most faithful supporter on these boards and an intelligent and thoughtful representative of Seymour. After calming down I know you would not attack a kid on these boards. Your point is well stated and true, individuals must realize the consequences of their actions, not just on themselves but the team as well. You pointed out what should be learned from the event that proved to be the turning point of the game.

My frustration with a lot of things concerning Seymour Soccer may have been inappropriately directed at you and I apologize. As you may know I am more involved with the players than I am with the team these days. (if that make sense) I hurt for these boys in how the season has unfolded, knowing that these seniors are a very tight group, work very hard and would NEVER quit, I really appreciate them. I have known some of these boys for a long time as my daughter is a senior as well, matter of fact I was not at the game tonight to be at an event with her. So I did not see what happened but having had to drag this kid off the field in previous seasons I know how things can go.

I had just finished talking to some of the boys and I know they were disappointed, but they did not throw anyone under the bus. From what I understand at some point after the game, on their own, away from the coaches, the players got together in a show of unity and support for one another and to emphasize that even though there season is over that they share victory and defeat together as a TEAM. I too am passionate about this team was moved by the solidarity of the players. Your post struck me the wrong way at a time of high emotion and led to that response.

Let us put this behind us and move on.

Again I say good luck to Alcoa, Carter and Gibbs. Whoever shall emerge from the district, I wish the best of luck in Region play.

  14. Now, I'm going to put this in the nicest way that I am capable of. The red for Seymour was one of the most blatantly dirty, selfish, plays that I have seen in a long time, maybe ever. I cannot fathom intentionally stepping on someone, not to mention the fact that your team, while losing, is controlling the game and virtually all momentum. I don't know what the outcome would have been had this not happened, but I can promise you that it would not have ended up 6-1. This young man needs to look long and hard at himself and his actions. This isn't the first time he has done something like this, but I can only pray that it will be his last. He owes an apology to ALL parties involved, and I truly hope that this somehow becomes a positive by the realization of how this not only affects himself, but each and every one of his teammates, and the entire community of Seymour.

JC you need step back and realize these are teenagers and they do not always make reasoned and reasonable decisions and sometimes actions pop out before the brain process starts. Does calling out a high school kid in this manner help in anyway. This young man just played his last high school soccer match! Do you think makin the statement above is going to change anything that happened tonight? NO! Is it going to help in anyway? NO! These are not professional athletes these are kids! someones son. This boy has parents that have worried and cried with him over issues with soccer. He is not an unthinking sadist who goes out on the field to cause mayhem and to heck with his team. Tonight as Seymour's players and coaches think about the game, who do you think is hurting the most. I know it is this young man. Maybe we adults need to realize what we are doing and saying on these boards a little more. I am not defending the action, just upset with a grown man 6 or 7 years removed from high school calling out a 17 year old kid this way!!!!!!!!!!

  15. Alcoa 6 Seymour 1

1-0 Alcoa in the first half and Seymour was competing and getting opportunities, one of the kids loses his head and gets a straight red. We could not hang with Alcoa shorthanded. Not an excuse the outcome may not have been different, but we certainly could not keep up 11 on 10.

    Congratulations Alcoa and Coach Gorman!

Good Luck to Gibbs, Carter and Alcoa, After 6 years of frustration I would love to see one of "our guys" make it out of the region. I think this could be the year.

  16. I was wondering, does anyone have a handle on how good Carter really is? I know that have that one player that is outstanding, but what was their schedule like outside of the District? /motorbike.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":motorbike:" border="0" alt="motorbike.gif" />

    South Doyle W 2-0

    Austin-East D W 6-0

    Jefferson Co. W 4-3

    Harriman D W 10-1

    Hardin Valley W 4-2

    Berean Christian W 6-1

    Seymour D W 7-3

    Gibbs D W 6-0

    Alcoa D T 2-2

    Grace Christian D W 6-0

Sullivan Central N Jon Metcalf Invitational W 7-4

David Crockett N Jon Metcalf Invitational W 6-0

    Chuckey-Doak N John Metcalf Invitational W 4-0

    Elizabethton N Jon Metcalf Invitational W 6-1

    Fulton D W 9-1

    Heritage W 5-0

There is no comparison that Alcoa played a much tougher schedule with several AAA powerhouses. Seymour's nonconference schedule was also tougher than Carter's.

  17. We finally know.

Alcoa vs. Grace Christian Monday night at Alcoa @ 7:00

Alcoa should advance if the boys take care of business and don't look ahead.

Do you have a score on the AE-Grace game?

Grace is much improved from Earlier in the season having all their players finally playing at the same time. I believe Alcoa will win but it may be closer than many people think.
