  1. Umm my god man did you forget someone? Farmer #40 has surpassed Hargroves tackle total for last year a couple games ago and is in no doubt the leader of this D. But i'm just sayin .... ;)

I do not think Farmer has been double teamed like Hargrove was EVERY game. Offenses planned their plays around Hargrove and Allen. I think Farmer and the rest of these guys are doing great. I hope the wildcats pull this one out Friday

  2. Polk County-Benton will ROLL is this one. Central-Harrison will not pose a problem for Coach Davis. Polk County-Benton is better coached and it will show. Polk County-Benton wins by 2-3 touchdowns.

John Allen is a good coach also, do not underestimate him. I think Polk comes out ready to prove something not only to the fans, but to themselves. This is a great group of senior athletes, they will get their rhythm down and be fine. I think Polk pulls out a close one. 24-21 POLK wins.

  3. Only one person said they will be better. Soooooooooo very wrong is incorrect the linebackers are not as bad off as other positions. The team lacks speed and with a team such as Bradley one thing that is a must is enough speed to cause disruptions, which this years team lacked in all positions NOT just LB. You can see the selfishness in this post its all about one player that has been dropped this is a TEAM sport it would benefit you greatly to learn that! It was apparent the better team won yesterday and the lesser TEAM lost. Bradley is much improved congrats and good luck to you in the rest of the season next week will you where you really stand though GOOD LUCK!!

I was only referring to one person. I said the defense needed to improve as a whole. The linebackers are good athletes and no insult was intended to them. It offends me that someone posted this about a kid, I support all the wildcats and hope they havea great season. Bradley should have one the game, they are a larger class. Polk always plays hard and I know they will improve every game, and be fine.

  4. If your talking about the 4th down play on the visitors sideline, going into the North endzone,,,, that was Logan Swafford that sold out and made the play. And then the Farmer kid #40 had the pick six to seal it!!

Hargrove was a great player, one of the best to come through PCHS. Lets move on. There's a Polk v Bradley thread just waiting for some football talk.

There was a play where Hargrove laid out and made a diving touchdown to stop a touchdown by Tyner. There were plays made him and all the wildcats. I agree lets move on, last year is over. Best of luck to this years Wildcats.

  5. You wanna ask a teammate? Ask me. He was a very selfish player. All for himself. If something was going wrong it could never be his fault in his eyes. He was a good football player but very selfish he did not fit into the way Polk County football is played and thats as a team

All I know was he led Polks defense for three years, from the time he was a sophomore till he graduated. Not many players can say that. I also saw him slap helmets when others made the plays, does not sound like who you are describing. Maybe you just do not measure up to his talent. It seems to me he made Polk County better, apparently he fit well enough to start for 3 years.

I just know he will be missed, just like Allen and Lee will be. Also the senior lineman and center from last years class. You have to remember they all had experience and talent.

  6. They WILL miss Allen and the other seniors, but will be better at linebacker because of a TEAM first unselfish attitude. Good luck Wildcats.

I think Hargrove will be missed. He was not a selfish player, anything but that. Just ask his teammates. He played through a horrible tragedy last year, and showed what he was made of. You seem to have something personal against this kid, thats a shame. His performance on the field as well as the other athletes was a pleasure to watch. Good luck Polk!

  7. Smoke you know how hard it is to get a good draw in round 1 in that southeastern quad, let alone the 2nd round. Charlie says Polk will be as competitive this year as last. You can't replace Jared Allen,,but word is the new QB is more than capable, very athletic. And on defense look for the Miller kid to step right into Hargrove's shoes.

I think the Wildcats will have a lot of players that can step up. Allen and Hargrove led the wildcats for the last three years. When they needed a play on offense they looked to Allen, and they looked to Hargrove on defense. Akins is a player that can really step up. Miller will be force and could very well end up leading the defense. The players know what they lost in the seniors from last year, and it will be interesting to see who take the leader roles. This is a great chance for some guys to take the bull by the horns and show what they are made of, I have no doubt the younger wildcats can do this. Good Luck Polk!

  8. I dont have any stats but i know this kid could have played college football if he had not already signed with UTK for baseball. He is one if not the best atheletes to come through Polk County, All-State in football and baseball. Jared Allen from good ol PC

    [/quote

Did't Michael Hargrove make All-State in football junior and senior year? Not sure but I think so. I think he and Allen had offers in both sports for college, but Allen knew he was going for baseball early on. Both players definitely will be among the best.

  9. Polk has a tough schedule this year. I think you can look for big things from some youngsters like Duncan Coffey and Chris Wimberly just to name a few. Should have some good leadership Akins, Phillips, and Collin Wimberly. I think it will be very hard to replace Allen,Lee and Hargrove. It will be a while before Polk sees athletes like those three young men. Looking forward to see who steps up. Good Luck Wildcats.

  10. With these teams I think this tournament is up for grabs. I know Polk's season has been disappointing for them, but do not count them out. All the teams have some really good players. With Allen, Hargrove & Lee from Polk, Moses & Cowart from MC, Crabtree & Rowland from Meigs, and Allen, Dalton, & Coley from Sequoyah anything can happen. All these guys are playmakers. Tourney should be a good one. Lets play some baseball.

  11. AGAIN, How many does Polk dress and how many go both ways? Same for CAK. Has stamina been an issue for either?

Ealgefort you are an idiot too and I don't even keep up with 3A.

Polk has 2 players that have played all year on both sides. That is #12 Jared Allen and #38 Michael Hargrove. These guys have the stamina to play all night. Also, polk will use #24 Akins and #22 Lee om both sides if needed. Polk dresses about 50 - 60 playerse. That does include JV and freshman. GO POLK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. What's the score gonna be ump?

I really would hate to estimate on the score. Both teams have great offenses, with the potential to put a lot of points up on the board. I do like Polks defense, they are very aggressive. It is a great atmosphere, when 2 really good teams face each other. I know Coach Davis and staff will have a great game plan. I know that all these young men who represent both of these teams have a lot of athleticism. There are key players on both teams. I know these guys from Polk have given us a lot of great memories over the last 4 years. Can't wait till kickoff. GO POLK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  13. Looks like the QB's for each team will be key. Interesting since these two young men are very familiar with each other. They played together on one of the best 15U baseball teams I've ever seen. Two great athletes.

I believe #38 Michael Hargrove middle linebacker for polk also played on that baseball team as well.

  14. Easy ump I'm not knocking Allen or Hargrove at all. They are great players and two of the best in our area. I'm simply saying that Tyner will not be overwhelmed by their talent. Thats all. The two guys I mentioned played against DII competition week in week out. You are a fool to compare district 5AA talent to DII talent. Again not a knock, just a point worth making.

First off, I am no fool. I compare talent to talent. It does not matter what division someone plays in. If they are an athlete they are an athlete. The are great athletes in Div II, single A, AA, AAA etc. You might want to be careful with the words you use.

  15. The Doc says it would be wise to err on the side of caution before popping off on the boards here Cats fans. Tyner has played a much more difficult schedule than Polk County. They have gone up against a qb as talented as Allen when they played Baylor (Huesman). They have played against a linebacker as talented as Hargrove when they played McCallie (Coleman). They wont be surprised. Polk wasn't preparing for the playoffs when they were sitting starters in the 2nd quarter in more than half of their games. Tyner was when they strapped it up against McCallie and Baylor and Ooltewah. I wish the cats well but i dont have a good feeling about this one

I know there are good quarterbacks in the area, I have not seen one yet that is more physical and effective at running the ball than Allen #12. I have watched both Hargrove #38 and others play, Hargrove is hands down the best Linebacker in the area. He has improved every year from leading the area as a sophmaore in some defensive stats. I will take him and Allen over any player any day. This should be a great game. I have the utmost respect for the Tyner Rams and the Wildcats. It should be the best game in the state Friday night.

  16. Ummmmm????? Did you forget #40!!! Dear god man!!! Definitely the #3 defensive player beghind Allen and Hargrove if not right there with them.

No I did not forget #40. He is a GOOD player and is improving every week. He is NOT the calibur athlete of Hargrove and Allen. All the guys are playing great, but I have watched every game and Hargrove has at least 2 blockers coming at him every play sometimes 3. The opposing teams are always keyed in on Hargrove and Allen. Hargrove has led the defense for 3 years, and Allen and Lee the offense.I know the juniors playing are really contributing, and that is what makes a TEAM. To me the standouts in the junior class are #24 and #55, but make no mistake they are all doing great. Hopefully they will play Friday night the way they have the last 2 weeks.

  17. Not all Pirate fans are thinking the way Mr. Howie thinks. SP should not be the favorite in this game. Polk County-Benton is a ranked 3A team. It will be DIFFICULT for SP to come out of this with a win.

Polk County-Benton better take it easy on our boys. South Pittsburg is a GOOD 1A team this season, but Polk County-Benton is a GOOD 3A team. I believe someone said earlier that they will dress 70? How many does South Pittsburg dress? 40-45? Do the Polk County-Benton boys ALL play both ways? Depth could be an issue for the pirates in this one. Polk County-Benton was the best team SP played last season. I have a feeling they will be again this season as well. Hopefully everyone stays healthy with just a few weeks remaining before playoff time.

Polk has 2 players that play both ways - #12 Jared Allen plays QB,safety, and special teams

#38 Michael Hargrove LB, TE, and also special teams

Both are tremendous athletes and give everything they have every play. Polk has a lot of players to move in and do things like #22 Tyler Lee, #24 Alex Akins, and #55 Seth Philips just to name a few. It has been a great ride to watch #12, #22, #38, #20, #51, and #77 boys play.

  18. I'm not taking away from any other players it takes everyone doing their job for the team to be successful but Allen is who the team looks too for leadership and he does it on both defense and offense. I have seen him instruct other players where they should be and also give a harsh word to a teammate that didn't get it done on defense and offense...isn't this part of being a leader as well. Maybe your definition of leader is different than mine. I never said the team revolves around Allen, it does take everyone but I've never seen Lee, Akins, or Phillips tell people where they should be or act like a leader on the field. All of them do a great job and contribute tremendously but they are not visibly the team leader. I think Akins will step up next year and do a great job at leading the offense. As far as being replaced next year all seniors will be replaced but its going to take more than one player to replace all that Allen does! I will leave you with this question; Would this team be 15-2 in the last two yrs if Allen wasn't playing?

I think Polks team would be fine. I think players step up every year. Allen has led the offense this year, and has done a great job. I believe Lee did his sophmore year just like christian did last year. It takes all of them and for you to get on here and say that it will take more than one player to replace Allen is crazy. Lets remember who Polk has played the last several weeks. Not very good competition, and I would have to disagree on him being the defensive leader. That is Hargrove hands down, has been for three years. I think Allen is a great athlete, but Polk has several. Sorry for leaving the guys up front out in my previous post, they are work horses, no doubt.

  19. What? Are you serious? Allen is doing only what's expected of him, he is far from a selfish player. IMO he is just now getting the credit he deserves. When has he put his success before the team and had a attitude. How many players especially QB' s play every down both ways and also punt, kickoff, and kick field goals. Where would we be without him? Can you say team leader.

A team is not one player and one player does not make a team. Allen is the offensive leader just like the quarterback should be,and Hargrove is the defensive leader just like the middle linebacker should be. Both great athletes and both will be replaced next year. You have to remember other players on this team like Lee, Philips, and Akins just to name a few who contribute every week also. I think they all deserve credit. These guys are just natural athletes, fun to watch. But I think what it's great is to see them celebrate when an underclassman makes good play, and encourage them when they fall short. That is the trait of a leader, Polk is fortunate to have several. Good Luck to the wildcats. Go Polk

  20. Who needs to throw?? How about polk county. When you play a good team they will take your strength away. Polk can run all up and down any team in their division but when you get into the playoffs what happens?? A team will beat polk because they're one dimensional. I'm an ex wildcat and a huge polk fan and I would love if polk could win every game by just running it but that don't happen. "So who needs to throw". What a dumb question!! And another thing, you can ask anybody, even coach davis, and they would tell you that jared could be a big time recruit if he played in a spread type offense with some playmakers to throw to.

I just quenched your thirst ;)

POLK does have the athletes to throw to, make no mistake about it. The fact is we just do not throw it. I think another top player in the Chattanooga area is Polks defensive player Michael Hargrove. He has been leading Polk's D for 2 years now. Hargrove and Allen are a lot of fun to watch Good Luck Polk.
