Spring sports in Metro are a joke! Where else but Metro can you coach and they dont fire you? Think of a coach who was fired in metro because of their spring record or even football record. I understand the new coach at the new school in metro never had a winning record but he is going to start a new program!! You just have to understand that metro isnt like the county schools where people care!

Supposed to be pretty cold this weekend, hope we can see some of these teams play. I dont think they will have any state tourney teams in their this weekend, maybe Brentwood and Lipsomb but both are not as good as they have been in the past. Lipscomb is young and Brentwood doesnt have the pitching like they have had in the past.

Boyd Buchanan is the best team in this district the others will be playing for the other spots!

I saw where Friendship beat Mt Juliet and that the Coach from MJ was all over her players after the game wanting to know why they let a single A team beat them. Friendship will beat a lot of AAA teams this year this want be their last AAA to beat.

JC#fan if you will go back to post number 43 you will see that she is JUST out of college! No student teaching, NO college classes just a Sub hire by metro to fill in when a regular teacher is out.

Maryville should be in every game with the staff that they have! I look for great things for them this year. Maybe in the Boro?????

This is one of the better run tourneys in the Mid State......always a lot of great games plus we get to see teams from all over the state!

The school you are talking about is Antioch HS, I believe. The head coach just got out of college this past winter and is a sub at the school the asst. is the campus cop. Spring sports for the metro schools are a joke to start with except track! Who really cares who coaches these teams because they will NEVER see the BIG DANCE in the Boro! Track is a different story!!!!

The best they can hope for will be third place this year.......very tough district and WH hasnt been to the playoffs in years......does anyone remember the last time they made it???

Time will tell, Grundy is going over to Lincoln County today so maybe we will hear something about the game. Lincoln is going to be weak this year doesnt have a great pitcher.....could be another long year for them....

Here are some teams that should be above the rest this year. AAA---Riverdale, MJ, Beech, Rossview, Ooltewah, Soddy-Daisy, Beech Dickson Co, AA-----Goodpasture, Greenbrier, Dekalb County, Lewis County, Spring Hill, Gibbs, Hixson A-------Friendship Christian, Forrest, East Robertson , a dark horse in Monterey,

The best way to play this year is play in play dates......should be a good one this weekend at Beech....most of the top teams will be playing. and some bad teams as well!

I think with what I saw last year that you will be able to place Sequatchie, Grundy, Marion and Bledsoe in a group and then you have Hixson and Chatt Christian better than the rest. But of course this is a new year and that is why we play the games!

1. Hixson (Should be in the Boro!) 2. Chattanooga Christian (Not much difference in them and Hixson) 3. East Ridge (Wishing for the good all days!) 4. Sequatchie (Could surprise people this year) 5.Grundy (Shaq is working hard) 6.Marion (Should have a .500 record this year if lucky) 7. Bledsoe (Could be better but will not make the play-offs) 8. Notre Dame (Just don't have it again) 9. Howard (Why do they have a team?)

I agree about everyone playing a lot of JV and freshmans. I thought that MJ hit the ball really well, also think that Creek Wood will be better as they are outside more. Think that Riverdale has to have Cat on the mound and they can beat anyone but not sure what they would do without her. Didnt get to see Father Ryan play and but I am sure that they will also be ready when tourney play starts. Most of these teams will be at Beech this weekend and maybe we will have better weather than we did this past weekend. I knew that the Page playday would be rain out, those people just down let you play on their fields when it gets a little wet. Thought they should have called it earlier where maybe some of the teams could have gone to MJ and played. I have seen years where no one could play but they played at MJ fields. Think warmer weather and it want be long for the first pitch!

I agree this was the politcally thing to say because I have been in the stands listening to the board member who has daughters playing on the court! Coach Dye is a CLASS PERSON and COACH good luck and thanks for you hard work! But believe me if you dont think this school board member doesnt carry weight with Dr Anthony I have a big bridge I need to sale quick!

The problem with the Page job wasnt Coach Dye because she is a very excellent person and an a good coach, she just didnt have the players! But the problem with the program is like you said is that Dr. Anthony isnt a sports person and I think she is doing a very good job as principal. The problem is the school board member wanting her daughters to be the stars in basketball, volleyball and softball. As long as the coaches play them everything will be ok.......if you can play the game this may be a good job but most good coaches are going to play the best players and not play politics! Coach Edwards is doing a great job again this year! Had a chance to see them play early and thought he would be tough by tourney time. Would love to see them in the Boro!
