Not sure who all is coming. But it should be a good tournament. i know Ooltewah opens against Notre Dame on wednesday. Matt Mikell is scheduled to get his first start of the season. Coming off a good showing in the Wildcat Classic. (ooltewah was declared the champion) i say the Owls win their own tournament.

Anybody have any info on the teams that are coming? thoughts?

i guarantee that won't be your perception of the Owls after seeing them play one game this season. Coach Hitchcox won't allow it.

Lots to be determined on the mound this year for the Owls, but my gut says they score enough runs for it not to matter until the post season.

The ooltewah pitching staff has an ERA of under 1.00 for the preseason.

Farragut did a much better job on defense. still had no offence at all. Ooltewah's got the best Defense in the state. hands down. Not sure on exact because i havent seen the stats. but i'd be suprised if there were more than 4 teams all year to have 100 yards total offense. Ooltewah Wins State because of its D. GO OWLS!

Although i would have like to had a rematch with smyrna from '06. We (the Owls) have oakland coming to town. Who wins? Why? I have no idea. I don't know anything about oakland. Any Info?

Ooltewah's defense stepped up big and shut down soddy's offense in the second half of the first meeting. 35 unanswered in the 2nd half is why i'm picking the Owls. 42 - 14

Junior from Ooltewah, John Long, is very impressive on Kickoffs, FGs, and punts. All of his kickoffs went thru the endzone last night, he made a 42 yd FG, and punted a ball out of bounds on the 1 foot line. Look to see his name alot in the next few years.

Alan Walden comitted this weekend to UT. He just got back from the sunbelt where he threw a 3 hit shutout against team Miss.He also just completed the tryouts at the east coast showcase where he was 1 of the few chosen for the team.He was clocked between 86 and 92 at the sunbelt consitantly for the entire game and from 89 to 93 at the showcase.Great pickup for the vols and conrats to Mr. Walden keep on rollin and we will see your name on next years draft boards.

Who are the potential coaches the Owls are looking at? From what I've heard, the new coach better be someone that can reign in Ooltewah's parents, quickly.

There are alot of rumors flying around about the new coach as to who its going to be. I have hard that they've got it down to 4 coaches and should be naming our new head coach by the first of july. And you're right, any coach -- especially a new one -- has to learn to handle all the parents.

Ooltewah is returning 16 of 21 players from last years roster. The only thing we're missing is a coach. Hopefully we'll know who our coach is in the next couple months. We Should be really solid the next couple of years. Who else will be?

Ooltewah is 8-5 overall and is leading the district at 2-0. We're headed to Brentwood this weekend and then on Monday and Tuesday for 2 BIG district games against Red Bank.

Whats all this talk about sonny grey about? I have played against him this year and i went 3-4 against him! The ball looked so slow coming in! I thought his fastball was a changeup! Vandy should take thier scholorship back!!! He is garbage!!!

garbage? the kid can throw low to mid 90s consistently and he's garbage? i dont know him but i'm pretty sure a mid 90s fast ball consistently in high school is by NO MEANS garbage. All American= NOT garbage. sounds like you're just a hatin wannabe.

the trick play involving the fake throw to first was in both the college world series and a movie. i forget the name of the movie though.

what are some of the best trick plays you have seen or heard of? hidden ball trick etc.

Saw one ina JV game monday night were had Ooltewah had a runner on third and the batter faked the bunt, the whole Ooltewah team yelling squeeze as loud as the can, the catcher jumped at all the yelling, missed the ball and the run scored. pretty clever i think.

Long toss is about as good a thing to strengthen an arm as anything, and intern have more velocity. Through a friend I know the agent of the Tiger's flame-thrower Joel Zumya (however you spell it), but since Joel was 16 he said he has done band work and lots of long toss. He said Zumya can throw a ball around 500 feet, easily out of any major league field. Also technique is major component to throwing hard. A lot of a pitchers velocity can be reached just by mechanics alone. Hey, if thats what a pitcher throwing 105 does...it sure couldn't hurt!

Red Bank defeats Notre Dame 8-7 in 8 innings.

 

Hixson defeats Soddy Daisy 7-6 in the bottom of the 7th.

Harriman beats Coalfield 12-11 coalfield looked terrible they dont have a chance to beat any region 3a team! They wont be able to step on the field with rockwood or harriman come region tourney time!

if coalfield looked terrible and Harriman only beat them by one, must mean Harriman looked just as bad.

Ooltewah is off to a solid start. We're 2-1. we beat a solid Northwest Whitfield team last nigvht 9-0. they're only flawed seemed to be pitching, although they did have alot of it. Garrett Baugh pitched excellent last night. Complete Game Shutout. no sure on how many hits but no more than 5. We're off to a great start.

Any other Updates? i know Red Bank was suprised by cleveland the other night. Anything else?

how did grace look? what did they do well?

yesterday they were decent at best. didn't do alot of things right. they made several errors. they didn't strike out alot though. they may not have gotten the hits but they were putting the ball in play.

Ooltewah won the season opener verse grace big 17-2. Remo Tinti pitched extremely well. don't hold me to it but i believe he threw a 2-hitter and a shutout thru 4 innings. Dakota Williams and Jamie Gawthrope both had HRs. Thoughts?

We (Ooltewah) lost to meigs last saturday. but the pitching staff gave up 3 earned rest. the other four were unearned. so the pitching staff was good enough, just not the defense. and you can't base you're prediction on an entire staff on 1 game.
