  1. Good luck to Baylor this week. BA is always a good team and even though their record shows them alittle off this year does not mean that Potter will not have them pumped up for the Red Raiders. Baylor is a very good team this year.........so I will go with....

  2. Sorry tornadofan! I've been on suicide watch. Feeling better now after the antidepressants have kicked in and the sun has come out. My psychiatrist is hopeful for a complete recovery and a return to my totally optimistic self! Either that or complete delusions have set in. :roflolk:

I am looking forward to the trip to BGA and seeing their facilities for the first time on Friday. Watched some film and they looked to have a lot of diversity in their offense. However, I feel the Blue is ready to bust one. Oldwiseone is welcome to sit with me anytime. Enjoyed talking with him during the game Friday and he didn't even mind my thundersticks!

    BGA 10

Maybe he did not mind sitting by the thundersticks because there was not alot of reason to use them at the game??? You know, they weren't really used after the teams ran onto the field?? Anyway, hope the hometown Chattanooga McCallie teams wins.

  3. Big Game This Thursday for both teams...lets gets your thoughts on this game!!!!

Well, I would expect it to be a very close game....is it at Hixson? Regardless this one I see as being almost too close to call....but here it goes.

    East Ridge 31

    Hixson 28

  4. Let's hope the weather cooperates for the greatest high school rivalry game around! Can't wait to see the big red flags waving and the festive tailgating parties. It's Baylor vs McCallie and it just doesn't get any bigger than this. Here's to ending the streak!

    Baylor 31

    McCallie 28

Greatest rivalry indeed! I can't imagine any interest beyond Dunlap in these two mules fighting over a turnip. If it were being played in my backyard, I'd close the curtains.

Just kidding...I'd actually enjoy seeing this one, and I think Baylor's campus is beautiful (although I last saw it in '79). I'm afraid, though, if I had to pick, I'd have to go with McCallie. I've only seen each team once (against MBA), but I thought McCallie had the better team. I'm skeptical of any offense that can't score on MBA this year. And in a close game (as most are predicting, and justifiably so, I would think), kicking becomes very important. Does Baylor have any real kicking game?

And the comments made earlier that Baylor knows they can win and isn't at all daunted by the streak seem to me to be whistling past the cemetery. Baylor last won this one when their seniors were in first grade. In my mind, that makes it imperative that Baylor succeed at something early on. A two touchdown lead for McCallie in the first half would probably be insurmountable. Alternatively, I suspect there's a lot of pressure on McCallie. I'd hate to be part of the first team to lose to our archrival in over decade. That's the kind of thing that's remembered in a not so joking manner at class reunions for a long time.

Best of luck to both teams on a good game. I can't share your wishes, though, for good weather. I'm a big fan of football in the mud. Or has Baylor gone over to the darkside as well and gotten a carpet?

I think it is way to hard to judge from results from results played against a common opponent...this case MBA. From what I have read about that game it sounds like Baylor was their own worst enemy and it was not that they could not move the ball but when in position to score inside the 10 they just turned it over. Also, sounds like Baylor defense may have been better against MBA. MBA moved it well against McCallie but they only scored points off of Baylor due to Baylor miscues deep in their own territory.

Now from talking to those close to Tyner football even with the Tyner turnovers I was told that Baylor played them alot stronger than McCallie did and that McCallie ecked that one out in the last seconds. So I really think it is hard to judge by a common opponent score.

If Ooltewah had an off week I would have loved to have seen this game. It is the game of the week on Chattanooga TV station so I will just tape it and watch some of it later. Should be a good and close game I would think. Go Owls!

  5. I think Baylor ends the streak this year and hope they do. As always whoever holds on to the ball most likely will win this game. Both look like they have quality quarterbacks but I give Baylor the edge on skill players. Go Ooltewah!

    Baylor 24

    McCallie 21

  6. I would hope McCallie students would have enough sense not to show up and do their cheers if they had been dominated in a series the way Baylor has been. Having fun is OK, but I was totally embarrassed for them. Maybe I'm just too old........that must be it! :popcorneater:

I would think that the 5 McCallie student athletes that drove drunk to Signal Mountain High School last year to get in a fight...then get arrested....and then still continues to have their pictures and school's name on the news due to court dates would be much more embarrassing to you. It would me but I am not as wise I guess.

No dog in this hunt but I really hope Baylor beats you this year. Go Owls!

  7. Refreshing when talking about her team. Not so much when jabbing at rivals.

    Ensworth 42

    McCallie 21

You have to love Blue Mom's optimism. She is refreshing. and yes......they still have to play the game to get the final outcome. Good luck.

    EHS- 56

    McCallie- ...3?

  8. It's not that I would not like to see Tyner win but I don't think you are right. Ooltewah beat Tyner 36-0 then Baylor beat Tyner 41-6. Tyner did beat Hixson but Hixson is awful. If McCallie has anything they should beat Tyner going away. I say:

    McCallie 28

    Tyner 7

Tyner may have struggled early but I don't see McCallie slowing the Rams down like Ooltewah. Tyner will break out big in this game.

    Tyner 28 McCallie 10

  9. This is pretty funny. Bluemom, from the looks of it the Baylor posts have all taken the high road and you take the other road. Like someone else said for every story you have I am quite sure they have one about McCallie. After reading your post that started it, it is funny that you found a way to jab at Baylor...you went out of your way. I hope your streak ends this year. As for me Go Ooltewah!

Thank you for the full box score for the Baylor/Tyner game. No, unfornuately, I miss most of the TV coverage for the Friday night games due to post game concession cleanup and/or travel home. I make no excuses by mentioning turnovers. That particular stat had just stuck in my mind as being a large number sorry I was off by one.

As to reserving judgment on any team, I would do so for anyone until I had seen them either in person or on film. Too often journalistic reports are incorrect and even eyewitness reports are skewed. My prediction of BGA winning was wrong. See my judgement and $2 will buy you a cup of coffee at Starbucks. It is simply my opinion, right or wrong.

I will attempt to refrain from any further negativity. Baylor has probably the most picturesque campus that I have seen. I look forward to seeing their new turf. They always seem to have a fleet of excellent athletes both football and swimming (the 2 sports I'm most familiar with). They do alot of things right. As to some of my negativity, it probably started several years ago with the red B's that were painted on my vehicle and has been compounded with less than sterling behavior on the part of overzealous students/fans both while I was a spectator, concession stand worker and simply a driver on the street. While those incidents are water under the bridge, some are hard to forget and impressions (right/wrong) are hard to change. I'm sure they probably have incidents of their own they can report. This is not meant to be an excuse, just an answer to the question of why. Emotions with this particular rivalry tend to run very high.

  10. Looks like you got your answer

    ER 1 Boyd 0

Boyd is no longer undefeated thanks to ER

Don't spoil a good win for ER with that stuff. Good for ER because they have never even won a postseason game that I know of. That is great but even if you have never been there before......try to act like you have been there before.

  11. Must have been a great game....and one that Cleveland probably thought they should have won based on the hype. Hats off to McMinn County for a great tie. I just hate it though when fans come on making excuses and whinning when their team loses. Every game someone can say come on and blame the refs.....calls happen on both sides.

--It was not offsides because the forward never touched the ball until it had already been touched by one of your defenders. (Check the video)

--There actually was a McMinn comment at 8:48 AM by IAAK regarding the lack of PK calls and by the way, we were taken out in the box a couple of times also which were not called.

--In regard to "wait till my whistle" that was never said and it was obvious that the official in question had never heard of a quick restart.

The bottom line is great match with less than optimal officiating.

  12. This will probably be the only year that I would say this....but Cleveland should win this year. Cleveland has a very veteran team with tons of seniors. Baylor lost one of the best senior classes of any high school in recent memory last year. Their goalie, a tremendous group of defenders and most of their offense. But you can never underestimate Baylor. However, I still think with losing much talent last year....and Cleveland being loaded with seniors.....that the Blue Raiders will beat the Red Raiders for once. Still close though....Cleveland 2-1.

  13. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> He lost. As simple as that. From what I heard maybe he knew the old shoe trick was not going to work this time. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Just give congrats to Doster who won and not try to make excuses.
