  1. TSSAA is a Joke!!! It is about MONEY and not about the KIDS! Something needs to be done! Someone (maybe me if I knew how to go about it) needs to fight for the kids and get these rats out of never ever land and back to reality and what it is truely about: KIDS

Here is my feelings.....I have nothing to do with Sullivan Central. I don't know their football coaches name, basketball coach, or any sport for that matter. As a fan of high school athletics, here is what I see wrong with this cluster:

In this current bologna format, I understand that someone has to be the small guy. But something needs to be done so it can be somewhat LOGICAL. This current system makes no sense except a little bit in football.

    1. Sullivan Central enrollment is 1017. In EVERY sport but football, they are being asked to compete against schools such as Science Hill (2200), DB (1900), if they happen to beat these two in the region they face: Jefferson County (2150), then in sectionals HVA (1800), Farragut (1800) Bearden (1900). There is no way that this school can compete in any way in all the other sports at this school besides football!

    2. If every sport is done like football and there is 6 classifications then I can see them competing with schools like Ootlewah and Rhea Co with (1400). I understand football makes money!! I understand that if you go 6 classifications in everything it waters it down. But if it is truely about the kids, SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE!!!!!

    3. My case that I would love to see happen: 4 classifications in every sport!

Class A: Low enrollment schools: 0-499

Class AA: Low - Med enrollment numbers: 500 - 899

    Class AAA: Med - High Numbers: 900 - 1300

Class AAAA: High enrollment numbers: 1301 - Blackman (2300)

P.S. I'm not even going to start with the privates and how that CIRCUS is going with the multiplier. I need to go to church and ask for forgiveness before I do that.

  2. There is a rumor that AC has had a couple of kids kicked off, any truth there?

I talked to Coach Downs today and he said the only dismisal off the team has been Nathan Thomas. He was their #3 Pitcher last year and it will be a big loss especially with their out of conference schedule this year. When I asked him what he did to get kicked off, he wouldn't tell me, but said it was a combination of multiple things. Other than that, they are at a full squad. He also told me they scrimmage at Farragut Monday, at home vs. Pigeon Forge Tuesday and at Tennessee Tech vs. Walker Valley on Friday. Should be a good week to see how they stand early on. They played pretty well on Wednesday at Webb.

  3. That is correct. Then Friday at Halls will be loosers at 5:00 and winners at 7:30. The same will be at AC on Friday. Loosers at 5:00 and winners at 7:30. Should be a fun tournament. I think it will come down to Halls, Powell, AC and Karns. What does everyone else think?

  4. Anderson County beat Hardin Valley 5-0 tonight. Highlights of Game:

    Taylor Durand (AC) 7IP, 1H, O Runs, 14 K's, no BB.

    Taylor Foster (AC) solo HR.

Graham Rowan (HV) left game in 1st inning with Hamstring Injury.

Field was in good shape considering.

  5. Tanner Williams needed 131 yards of passing to break state record. He needed 302 yards to get to 4000 on the season. He had 290 yards at end of the first half (according to Columbia radio anouncer). I know he had well over 100 more yards in second half. I would say he got it and became the first in TN to throw for over 4000 yards in a season. EVER.

Tanner threw for 468 yards. Broke record by a lot. Kesterson left game at half in ambulance and didn't return. Refs were unbelievable and I'm not just saying it. Williams was in endzone on 2nd to last drive and they called him down at half yardline. On 4th down and after a penalty had to settle 4 FG and 44-42 lead before they scored with 2 min left. On our way back. Team will be home about 3 am. Great season Mavs. Got ugly after game bc of refs. They are the worst I've ever seen. Hopefully TSSAA will watch film and not let these guys ref anymore. It was sad!

  6. I no for a long time its been Clinton and Oak Ridge alot of tradition. AC and Oak ridge never played when I was at AC. But I would say if I played now they would both be huge rival games for AC. I could not put one infront of another but if I had to it would be AC and Oak Ridge cause that is the bigger game.

Do they teach spelling at AC? You no? Or you know? Like i said earlier in another thread, Clinton's biggest rival is Oak Ridge...but Oak Ridge's biggest rival would probably be Dobyns-Bennett. AC isnt anyone's biggest rival! :popcorneater:

First of all, AC's graduation rates are a lot higher than Clinton's, so don't talk about what we do and don't teach. The reason Clinton is not AC's rival is because Clinton never wins! Don't talk about who is and isn't a rival when you get beat 10 years in a row! That's right....our streak is still going!

  7. i think columbia will win. we have watched film on them. i say col 38, And co. 17

Should be a great game. Quarter Finals, 3.5 hour drive, leaving school early, doesn't get any better than this. Columbia's Line and running back is huge and they have good team speed. AC is small and slow. So predict it just like last week.....Columbia, just like Clinton wins BIG!

.....Not so fast my friends! Tanner Williams will pick Columbia apart and set a STATE passing record! Go Mavs and have a safe trip over!! AC wins 38-28.

  8. I talked to someone on the board for selecting the new coach the other day.

    So far:

    15 applicants

    Coach Rice from Karns

    Coach Downs from AC

    Bearden Assistants

    the west coach

and some others. Those were the most notable.

Talked to Coach Downs from AC the other day, and he had taken his name out because he said AC had really helped his wife get a teaching job, and probably the Head Softball job at AC. He said that he was going to stay at AC.

  9. Just talked to Coach Downs at AC and he informed me of tonights schedule.

    5:00 Catholic vs. Stone Memorial

    7:30 Loudon vs. Kingston

Both Games to be played at Anderson County because they had their field tarped!

AC and CAK will play winners tomorrow!

  10. I think the two teams will split. I think CAK will hold Kolinsky till Tuesday so he can pitch at home. I was told that he hasn't pitched a road game the whole year. Coach Downs has thrown Price on Monday all year and I doubt he would change, so I think Price and AC win on Monday, and CAK and Kolinsky win Tuesday!

  11. No where in my initial post were the words "right players". You jumped to way too many conclusions. Let me be specific with you, there were two positions the first year Mike left that I felt Coach Downs was playing the wrong players in the wrong positions.(I'm a season ticket fan, I feel I have the right to say that!) Coach Downs had better talent sitting the bench. He knew he had better talent sitting the bench. Keep in mind, I am no one's brother or dad or uncle or grandpa who was or is on the team. I have no hidden agenda. You are awful sensitive and jumped to all kinds of conclusions. So, explain it to me, please.

Also, I played for Coach Guinn and Coach Downs and I can tell you that Coach Downs is by far the better "COACH". Coach Guinn is the better recruiter! Coach Downs teaches the game every day at practice and does the "little things" to win games. When Coach Guinn was here, we would just show up and win on talent and talent alone. He never had an organized practice teaching us the game. Downs does it everyday!! He brought what he learned in D1 College Baseball and teaches it to us! Both are good coaches just in different ways!

I believe this was downs' lineup last year:

rorex ss, price p, bynum c, foster 3, york cf, pack 1b, ellis dh, white rf, farmer 2b, and truan lf. Who was on the bench better than this lineup? Explanation complete! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  13. So sensitive, Big Guy! Go back and read the initial post. My argument is just what I stated it to be. There are/were a lot of really good players that deserved to play. No one stated that Downs shouldn't have played Guinn's guys. He'd not have been very successful had he not played those players. You made it seem like Down's came in and totally beat Mike with a brand new team, all on his own. That did not happen. Downs beat Mike with Mike's team, Mike's first year at PF. I agree, AC is doing really well, now. However, there are those players who....... well, you know.

Coach Guinn had most of "AC's" TRUE players together when they were tots. He won a little league world series with

    them. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

I believe the last report on Rorex was that he'd be back in about three weeks.

Greeson, I believe you left out.

    York is doing well, also.

Correct me if I'm wrong ...Is the Price boy from west Knoxville somewhere?

You said you wish Guinn was back so he'd play the right players not ones that were playing due to thier dads....so explain! Then you said Downs played the right players? Thats were I'm confused!! Everything else I agree with you! Just clarify. if thats not what you mean. Price is from Clinton. Word on Rorex is he "Might" be back for tournament but doubtful. And I did forget Greeson on list, but he's not having the best of year i was told. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

  14. Temper, temper there, billybob. For your information I'm an only child. So that shoots your theory in the foot about my little brother. I have a degree. I have coached. I don't CLAIM to know everything. I just call it as I see it. Just like Coach Downs going to state with the players Mike Guinn put in place. I'm not saying Coach Downs doesn't do a good job. He's young, just like you pointed out. Yeah, I REMEMBER Coach Downs taking Mike's lineup and beating Mike in his first year at PF. Did I touch a nerve there, DADDY? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

Big Man.....you're not making any sense? Your first post said the coach was playing players that didn't need to be playing? The coach just played them because of their daddy? That's were I dissagreed. Because they went to state....now you're saying that the coach played the players Mike brought in ? I agree with that! Who wouldn't play them as a coach....theyre good. What arguement are you trying to make? However, he obviously is playing the right kids because the only player left that Guinn brought in is York this year. (Rorex out for year with knee). Therefore its all TRUE AC guys and I think they are something like 12-3 so obviously someone is doing something RIGHT! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

  15. Bump

Don't know exactly what came about his leaving AC but I almost wish we had him back. At least he played the best talent on the field. Not "who's your daddy".

You're an idiot....Just cause your little brother didn't play because he couldn't catch a fly ball don't get all hateful over the coaching staff playing kids who went 30-10 and made it to the state. OBVIOUSLY he was playing the RIGHT people their slick!!!. I think Coach Downs does a great job and is DEFINENTLY one of the top YOUNG coaches in the area. Plus if you "REMEMBER" his lineup beat Guinn last year 10-0 in the Sectional game to go to the state! So obviously he knows who to play and who not to Play.....That is just straight fact! So quit getting on here bashing people/coaches. If you think you KNOW everything.....Football or Baseball, GO Get your degree and get in COACHING!

  16. Anders is out with Tommy John. He can start hitting only in 4 to 5 months, so maybe tournament time! We wish him a speedy recovery. I still like AC for the district championship!! Good players return and good coach.

  17. With the classifications changing after this year, this will be the last season of District 4AA Baseball as we know it. I feel this might be the best AA district from top to bottom in the state. Who do you think will be the top team/teams? Here is my predictions.....

    1. Anderson County (Rorex, Price, York, Foster, Pack, Ellis all back)

    2. C.A.K. (Kolinsky and Fromke...tough pitchers)

    3. Catholic (Anders, Irwin, Defilece....still good but heard might have some injuries?)

    4. Loudon (McNabb...Who do they have to pitch?)

    5. Kingston (Martin and Mitchell....Could be the sleeper!)

    6. Stone Memorial (?)

    7. Scott County (?)
