Brandon Joyner with DB wrestles 103 lbs. Unless this has just recently changed.

  4. Yes ,the fourth place finisher in region 1 @ 103 pounds qualifies for state as does the fourth place finisher @ 112 from region 10 and so on. Your region will have an individual tourny that decides who goes to state from your region and each team can only send 1 person @ each weight class to try to qualify for the state individual tourny.

Thank you, ths helps.. We were thinking that only the top 3 from each class would go.. This offers a little more flexability.

  5. The weights and regions listed above for fourth place qualifiers is last years, this years are.

    103- 1

    112 - 10

    119 - 1

    125 - 9

    130 - 6

    135 - 5

    140 - 10

    145 - 3

    152 - 5

    160 - 7

    171 - 8

    189 - 6

    215 - 9

    285 - 4

You have to go to the TSSAA website , then sport ,then wrestling then rules changes

So are you saying that in 103 lb - they get a 4th person? Sorry, I am confused..

  6. Howerton from South Carolina also placed third last year in the state of SC so there should be some pretty good matches at that weight class. Bishop will be going 145 after Christmas so this may be the only time these two wrestle this year if Ridenour does not also go down. These two have wrestled before in AAU with Kole winning the last match and Ridnour winning the previous match.

Just left the Indian Classic and Bishop is still in. He will be at the finals tomorrow. Not sure about the other guys.. There is some very tough competition there.

  7. Alright... good deal. That's good to have him involved over there... for him and the team.

Those kids can learn a lot from having him in the room. Wish he was still in our room helping me!

But I'll most likely be there tonight. I hear it'll be mostly SH JV, so Brett won't be wrestling. But if you decide to go up anyways, I'll see ya tonight!

BTW.. How is Pills (Brad) doing over there at MW? How's the team looking?

Good thing you didnt come to the South verses Science Hill match tonight. It was a little on the crazy side. Most of our guys have never touched the mat before this year (outside of a few kids) and Science Hill had a ARMY and dominated the entire tournament... Well, dominated every where but the 103 lb. class.. I would hate to see the outcome if they brought everyone they have...

there self. Boone folks did a great job. Food was good too. Thanks to all who came.

Good day of wrestling all got 5 matches

I believe Sullivan South ended 8th.

  9. How did the Day of Wrestling at David Crockett go? I heard the teams that were there were Dobyns-Bennett,

Sullivan East, David Crockett and Chuckey Doak? Were there others?

I am mostly concerned on the 103 lb weight class. I have heard in the past that there were not many wrestler's from this region that wrestled 103.. I would like to hear that there are several schools or most schools that do.

    Does anyone know?

I know that Dobyns Bennett has 103 lb senior, Sullivan East has a 103 lb. What about others? I dont want to have family driving to see my son wrestle, to get there and find out that there is not anyone for him to go up against.

Our first tournament is at Cocke County next week. Do they have a 103 lb wrestler? This is a hour and 20 minute drive for us, and I would like to confirm that there is a 103 lb kid there for him to wrestle.. Any news on this would be helpful.. I dont really care how good they are, I just want to make sure that if we go that far, there will be someone in his weight class..

Thanks for any insight on this..

  10. As a first post, I'll venture a guess that if GHS's King goes 12 Goldstein will run back to 3. From what I saw both of them have some size trimming to do for that to happen. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

    ct

I dont see Goldstein running from anyone to get back down to 103.. I just dont see it happening.. He is too talented of a wrestler to do that.. Of couse, I dont know the "King" kid you are referring to..

  11. Lil Goldstein did look extremely tough saturday. He looked to be real smooth and confident on his feet. He also looked like he has put on some size since last year. He'll even be a pretty good size 12.

And Science hill had an ARMY at that tournament. Their wrestle-offs had to have taken two weeks judging by how many kids were in that gym! They certainly have the numbers, and it looks like they have plenty of skill to go along wih it!

I'm not too familiar with any of the other names at 135, so after seeing Brett wrestle this weekend, I say he has a great chance at bringing that third gold to the Usary household. He looked good on his feet. Looked like he was trying out different things, being early in the season. And I know he's always been tough on top.

    KingGreen,

Is this Caleb? I have some pictures that I took at the King College tournament two weeks ago.

  12. Nease goes to Crockett, he'll be wrestling 130 this year. In the practice room everyday he looks to just get better & better. He has some talent. I know of Goldstein but haven't got chance watch him wrestle any this year, hopefully I'll get the chance to this Saturday @ Preseason Tournament @ Crockett.

  13. I am not familiar with Nease, but I do know Usary.. Where is Nease from?

I know personally my son wanted to stick around to watch Stephen Goldstein. Good kid, great wrester.

He scrimmaged my son a few years back and I believe that match was the wake-up call for Tyler.

I heard he was wrestling 112 this year instead of 103. Either way, I look for Goldstein to have plenty of wins to put in his pocket. You dont like to see your kid lose, but when they lose to a kid like Goldstein, it makes a difference.

He was a very good sport, and seemed like I very nice kid. I wish him success.

Jeff Price seems to do a great coaching job with all of those kids.. Science Hill will have a strong team, no doubt..

Great coaching, makes for better wrestlers.

  14. I got there really late, I had sign up for some classes for upcoming semester. I heard it was really good. Especially some of the new comers. Brett & Nease got to go against one another, Brett won I believe 10-0. Was nice watch them two go against one another, because their both #1 their weight in the region, and Brett is #1 State its looking. I'm really looking forward to see what Brett will do this year, my best goes out to him.

  15. I know there were a few local teams that went for the BIA testing, but not the tournament. Are there any results from the tournament? We really wanted to go, but our coach didnt feel like some of the boys were ready yet.

Sullivan South has a little more potential this year, they have 5 to 6 freshmen wrestlers, all with 5 to 6 years experience. This is just a 2nd year program for the High School team at South. I also know that Dobyns Bennett wasnt there either, apparently they have their testing tomorrow.
