  1. Hands are not part of the bat. Has anyone ever purchased a bat with hands on it? A lot times when situations like this come up in a game the umpires make the call both ways depending on the crew.

Never purchased a bat with hands on it...But I have purchased many bats with someones hands in my wallet. :D

  2. Well done yoda52! Senior night was tough for me but there were more games left. Now when we're at the point of 'over' it'll be an emotional rollercoaster. Sat at the ballpark of a rival team who my son played travel ball with for 3 years last night. It was their senior night. Didn't want to leave. Tonight is do or die at our place. Likely the last home game. There will be lot's of tears when it's over.

Let the tears flow, they will dry and memories will replace them. The boys will have a hard time removing their uniforms for the last time, they ALL do.

  3. I was sitting in my chair this morning enjoying my coffee and watching Sportscenter before the rest of my of my household awakened, thinking about todays game. Our district tourney begins today, same as most districts across the state. I am fortunate to be off work today to attend the game, for I work out of town most of the time. As I was thinking about who we were playing today, who would be pitching , and all the other things a " Baseball Dad " thinks about, I became overcome with emotion and began to cry. My son, you see , is a highschool senior. I realized ,out of the blue, This could be the last time I ever see him play a baseball game. The game I taught him to play, just as my father taught me. The same as millions of fathers have taught their sons to play. I was sad that it could be the last time. Sad with the uncertainty that he may or may not have the opportunity to play in college. As I sat there crying, I realized I was so happy I have had the opportunity to spend litterally thousands of hours with my son and family, creating a bond that can never be equaled and memories That couldn't be bought with all the gold in the world. As the same for all "Baseball Dads"...and Moms, going to practice ,games ,and tournaments since T-Ball basically consume or lives. Our weekly schedules, social lives, and especially our budgets have revolved around the ball park. That doesn't even account for those "backyard practices", lessons, and the MILLION PLUS batting practice pitches I have thrown,( I quit counting at 800,000 ). I salute every parent ,past ,present, and future, for enduring the frustration of umpires, bad coaches, good coaches that make bad decisions (in our eyes), bad fields, ugly uniforms, Umpires, fundraisers, small baseball budgets, UMPIRES (just joking), and RAINOUTS !! This day will come for everyone who has a son that plays. Remember ,most of all, your joy, as i will today, perhaps for THE LAST TIME. I hope I don't cry.... I LOVE YOU SON !

    Thanks Yoda

Finally someone who GETS IT :thumb:

  4. The TBCA needs to update their records because Clayton Gant had 54 wins during his high school career at USJ.

Many players & teams statewide are not in the TBCA record book that should be.Reasons vary, but your coach must be a TBCA member and he must notify TBCA. Otherwise "Who Knew?" The record book is neither accurate or up to date, but they try.

  5. Thanks but I count only four on Team TN with him. Has some of the others committed to TN and I've missed hearing? I know Tyler Fullerton and Dylan Toscano were looking at UT but they have both committed elsewhere. Can you clarify?

Both played in Oklahoma for Team Tennessee. I'm told that Dylan Toscano has commited to Memphis and Tyler Fullerton is a Mississippi St. commit. Both outstanding ballplayers and fine young men.

Sorry, but I don't know the other UT commits that played in Oklahoma

  6. Can you tell us who the 7 players are? I know Mookie and the Horn kid from Columbia - who else has committed? There have been a bunch that have given their verbal to D1 schools. What a class of players!

    University of Tennessee Committs:

Top 5 played for Team Tennessee in Oklahoma

    Mookie Betts........... Overton

    Jared Allen............... Polk Co.

    Drew Massengale.... McMinn Co.

    Parker Wormsley .... Knoxville Webb

    David Horne............ Columbia Central

    Jordan Sanford........ Powell

    Samuel Davis........... Columbia St. CC

  7. I guess Jr. didn't get an offer. Be patient, something will turn up. :roflol:

As for Mookie, how could you be anything but happy for a young man getting the opportunity to play SEC baseball for his home state university? I for one am extremely happy to have Mookie and the Betts family on board at UT. Take a poll and ask ball players in Tennessee if they would like a scholarship to get an education & play baseball at UT, not to mention playing in the best baseball conference in America. I think you know what the results would be.

To be critical of MOOKIE'S decision (it's his future, not yours) is shameful.

Hope I didn't sound like I was being critical of Mookie's decision but with the current state at UT, I was hoping he would pick another school. I'll support him where ever he chooses to play. Hope he gets his education but I'll support him if he goes the other route also. TN has some really good players comming in.

Mookie will be successful in whatever path he chooses. Thanks for the clarification.

Sometimes when a program is down, it creates opportunity early for newcomers that might not be there otherwise.

  8. Why would anyone do this now? You have kids that started as true freshmen leaving the program at every opportunity, no one in their right mind feels that Todd Raleigh will be around next season, the remaining players have no respect for the current head coach and to say that the program is a total mess would be quite the understatement. This makes zero sense for any player with great ability to give a verbal commitment to the University of Tennessee.

  9. Funtoplay, Robbie Ray touched 95mph at team USA trials. If he shows that velocity this spring he will go in the top 2 rds. Plus, I don't think he is a very good student so he would be an easy sign.

NICE POST. ;) Hows his driving record.

Unfortunately, I think he also touched 95mph on the interstate! I have heard scouts say that if he ever gets into 5th gear he will be unstoppable! ;)

Don't care about driving record. My point was I thought you were getting into someones personal life a little to much for CoachT. IMO

  10. Columbia - Brandon Brooks - C

    Austin Bryant - SS

    Paul Taylor - LHP

    David Horne - RHP

Horne could be 90 by the end of the year

    Taylor will be 82-84

Bryant is the best defensive ss in 8AAA

Brooks is solid behind the plate and improving offensively enough to get some atttention from MTSU

Let me see if I've got this right. Columbia has a SS that will put Keeton in another position, a D1 catcher and a kid that will throw 90mph yet I've never heard of any of them. Columbia won the district last year, did they not? Where were these players last year. Transfers? Help me to understand C.G.

Never heard of Bryant or this catcher? But Horne is a very good pitcher, he probably could hit 82-83 last year but I'm sure that 90 by the end of the season is correct.

Word out of workouts is Horne is close to 90, if not there at times. Thanks for the kind words Redbird.

Also, make no mistake the boys (Brooks & Bryant) you've never heard of can play the game.

  11. "Do it all"...OUCH!! :thumb:

You know the kid is good StealthBuster. It's about that time a year again. You ready?

I do KNOW both kid(s) are very good, love em both. I was refering to the "all". I know of one who takes the "Bump" every 4th day, that gets no "Dap" :thumb: Yes, Very ready.

  12. Also, Keeton from Columbia is the best player in the district if anyone.

What makes you so sure about that? They both are very good players but if you think Keeton is the "best player if anyone" then you haven't seen Bosheers play enough. I think those are the best two players but either one could be argued as the best.

Keeton is very good but my vote goes to Bosheers. Bosheers can do it all.

    "Do it all"...OUCH!! :thumb:

  13. what do you think?

    Redbird,

I think it's the same every year on CoachT. No one from our district ever has anything to say.

Hope it's out of respect for the others in the district. But I think that they just don't want to get involved. We'll see.

This is like preseason NCAA Football predictions, who the heck knows till the boys hit the field.

    For what it's worth:

    1. Columbia

    2. Shelbyville

    3. Tullahoma

    4. Lincoln Co.

    5. Franklin Co.

    6. Lawrence Co.

    * Won't miss the drive, but I sure will miss Coffee Co.

  14. The Farragut University

How is Coach Buckner working out? Yall been working hard?

I wouldn't know personally, but from a couple of parents/players i've talked to they said it hasn't been as tough as previous years under Coach Pharr. But i guarantee their definition of "hard" and everyone else's is different.

I am giving you your chance. Help me understand Farragut's definition of "hard". Please let me know how Farragut has trained in the past that makes them head and shoulders above everyone else (at least in your mind). What is their definition of "Hard"?

Please tell me why you would ask such a question? :roflolk: WHY? Now we will be bombarded with days of Farragut DRIBBLE!
