  1. First I would like to say that I truly miss this district, being from Montgomery Central, and I remember the rivalry's and the heart within this district.

With that said, I've gotten a chance to see both teams play, and I would tend to agree with Clancy, in that this Sycamore team's record is deceiving as "all get out". Sycamore should win this game, convincingly. And KS, since when is it ever a bad idea to schedule tough out of district play? I think they'll be better for it, and kudos to their coaching staff for chanllenging their kids this way. Not many coaches have the stones to schedule that tough in fear of messiing up their head coaching record.

To my knowledge, Sycamore needs to win out in district to make the playoffs. That's Cheatham, Heritage, Harpeth, and Greenbrier. I think Sycamore takes care of business with the other games, and it comes down to Greenbrier @ Sycamore to get in the playoffs for each team.

    Just my opinion

  2. Marc Walls, former assistant at Clarksville High is Harpeth's new baseball coach.

Gary Halstead former head baseball and football coach at Sycamore is Harpeth's new softball coach.

What does this mean about Sycamore Baseball? Wasn't he the baseball coach there? Why would he go to softball? My head is spinning. Sycamore has been through some coaches as well lately. Big hire for them coming up. Does anyone know the status?

  3. I heard that Jones was back at Station Camp.

KS, what is the word out there? I know they are interviewing right now. A friend of mine that coaches in Montgomery county said that there was a coach in Cheatham county that he thinks will get it/or has already unofficially gotten it. I will not name drop, but my assumption is that if i heard it, then you know it to be fact or fiction?

  4. There's lots of reasons not to want to continue to coach. I imagine a AAA assistant makes more in supplement than a lot of the head coaches do in our district. I love hamburgers, but I'm not willing to work at Mickey D's just yet. Money, family life, burnout. A good baseball coach is working on baseball 12 months a year in some form or fashion.

Well at least it is now listed on the state site. Should be picking up some steam now. Must not be any "in-system" guys interested. They'll get a good coach

  5. Then why isn't this guy coaching now? Probably because he doesn't love it, and no one wants a guy like that. Cheatham's coach won't be interested or considered for that matter, if your talking in system then you are probably looking at Sycamore or someone at Harpeth as the next coach, right?

  6. I don't see there being any baseball candidates within Cheatham County. I am a Mont Co guy, so what do I know. You mean, hiring within, like a person from Cheatham High/Sycamore? Is there anyone on the Rock that would step up for this job? I mean, I think It's a great great job! I think whoever gets this job won't get it until July, which will limit the number of quality candidates left to interview. I feel bad for people in Cheatham Co who are involved with Athletics.

  7. You trying to get rid of him? :roflol:

I wouldn't think so. He'd be more likely to move laterally within AAA or up to the right position for a college I guess. Brad's roots are in White County (who's looking for a baseball coach as well).

What is the early word for who is interested? Why haven't they posted it yet? Do they have someone in mind that they think would want it that will get first dibs at it?

  8. Yes, they were impressive last year. Won our district-11AA season and tournament. I follow Montgomery Central in our district so I have watched Sycamore play for many years. Always have a good team. Fastball likes calling other programs out, could come back to haunt Macon Co.

I have no recollection on what they have coming back, I actually think they were fairly young last year. Maybe 3 or 4 seniors gone. Not sure though. Who was in Macon Co's district last year? I do know Sycamore run ruled the lefty from Harpeth that signed D-1. That has to say something. I'm sure not many teams can say they have played against that level of pitching.

  9. I was skimming through and found this message board. I know a little about Sycamore, since I have watched them play for years against Montgomery Central in District 11AA. They are always a tough team. Not here to make predictions, because I don't have a dog in the fight. Speculation says that it's Goodpasture's District Title to lose, but that's why you play the game. I do know that all this chatter is just that, chatter. Means nothing.

  10. Let's get it cranked up this year with our chatter.. Who is looking tough? With Sycamore long and gone, it should be wide open. I know my Mont. Indians will be young. Harpeth has to be the favorite.

  11. This one is a big hire no question. The sticking point might be where there is an opening in the classroom.

Yeah I definitely do not know what any of them teach. I would say you are right about that though. I look forward to this hire. It will have a direct impact on District 11AA. If Harpeth administration drops the ball on this one it could be catastrophic for this program. However, on the flip side if they shoot the moon it could be "h-e-l-l" for the rest of the district. I wish more people were interested in this topic so we could get some more information.

  12. I have heard that all of these guys are under consideration:

    I have heard the Following:

Shane Britt (head coach East Hickman High School)

    What I know of him:

Very knowledgeable man, parents love him out there. Which speaks worlds for a guy coming into Indian land. I know that he has some professional Baseball coaching experience. (someone correct me if I am wrong). Seems to be the veteran of the applicants.

Daniel Smiley (Assistant Coach at Sycamore High School)

    What I know of him:

I have several friends that surround the Sycamore program, and when I brought up the thought of him leaving it made them sick. He might be the perfect fit (someone to help grow/build the program back up). Knowledgeable baseball mind as well. Might be the underdog in this hiring race. Young guy, with maybe 3-4 years experience at most.

Kenneth Harrold (Assistant Coach at Montgomery Central)

    What I know of him:

I am close to the Montgomery Central program. I know that Kenneth is looking to move on. With a lot of coaching years under his belt he seems to be a great fit. My source tells me that he has applied for this job.

  13. So have you heard this too Ks?

Might be a perfect fit. Seems like my Sycamore friends love him.

Doesn't seem like Sycamore would let Smiley walk Especially with rumors swirling about Staggs' being done.

    Time will tell.

Any thoughts anyone? Let's get some Intel.

I am just a lonely ole Montgomery Central fan looking for some news.

  14. KS we should just let you be in charge of all of the scheduling of games, tournaments, scheduling game times, concession prices, gate prices, etc.

I like your info, but give it a rest. The people who make these decisions are doing the best they can. Don't you think?

  15. Dunn told me prom was the reason for no games this weekend. Just spoke with him earlier today.

And ROP I was talking about coaches in general. They are included in the game(such as Fans/parents, students, and players) No punchline there.

  16. Yeah well, I have been our for a while on here.

    Topics to Cover Include:

Harpeth v CW (trailer park style)

Parents need to grow up bottom line. Coaches need to shut their mouth, players need to respect the game, and baseball needs to be played on the FIELD. I don't know who started it, but I have talked to representatives of both sides and it sounds ridiculous. Parents need to realize that they don't play the game, so shut their big mouths and spectate.

    District MVP

As you all know I am from Montgomery Central. Alec definitely is the MVP in my books. But last year was a CO with Guy and Purcell correct? Why couldn't there be a CO this year with Alec/Quillen

If 40 RBI's for Quillen is true, then that is a no brainer people. Don't take away 40 RBI's in 30 or so games away from that kid.

I know that Quillen beat us in the last inning with a huge hit in the Seventh off Alec to win the game. Also pitched a GEM against CW at their place.

Mills/Quillen for CO is my vote.

Foriest should not even be questioned for All District much less MVP. Attitude amongst the Coaches is a HUGE factor as well as talent. Sorry, but he doesn't deserve it. Just one old man's opinion though. Don't crucify me Harpeth fans.

Great season in the district for EVERY team. Good luck in the tourney to every team.

Here were my reg season predictions. This could be fun for every one who predicted at the beginning if everyone posts their old ones.

    1. Sycamore (right)

    2. Waverly (wrong)

    3. Fairview (WAY wrong)

    4. Creek Wood (close)

    5. Montgomery Central (didn't know Mills could carry us)

    6. Harpeth (DEAD wrong, great season guys. Work on discipline)

    7. Stewart Co. (right)

    8. Cheatham Co. (close)

  17. We swept Cheatham. We are 8-4 in district. If we sweep Wavo and CW and harpeth split it would come down to who beat wavo twice. Which in essence we would have swept Wavo to get the two seed. Now if we split we have no shot at the 2 seed.
