In the regional final they missed a PK with less than 5 minutes in the game with the score only 1-0. Houston scored in the closing minutes to put the game away.
-
Most of the good teams in the Memphis area. They also tied Father Ryan, I.m pretty sure during the season.
-
The game was pretty good for about 20 minutes. Then the forwards and the midfield for CBHS started turning the game in their favor. JP2 seemed to get real deflated after the second goal and it looked like CBHS was running downhill. They have so much quality depth. If you don't get on them early, there is a good chance they will wear you down and score in bunches in the second half.

i "heard" that diego is not playing beacause he tore either his mcl or his acl in the west game. . . . - Are there any "stars" for collieville that might upset west?
Collierville has quite a few very good players. Corey Bonars and Jake Deering are both seniors at forward and they are very good and very fast. Ian Mackenzie, Kevin Hensley, Mac McAllister and most of their team play very good club ball. Their only real weakness is probably at keeper. He is not a club player, but he has played very well this season. Their only loses are to Briarcrest early, Houston (2). They can be very good.

Collierville is playing very well at this point in the season. They have pretty good depth and are solid at all positions. They might lack some speed on defense, but they keep their shape very well and communicate well. On offense, they are really starting to put things together. Hope it's a good game.

I know it's easy to overlook Brighton but they are playing in the regionals for the second year in a row. They have a couple of outstanding players that should be considered:
Justin Smith (Sr.) 10 goals, 3 assists
Dylan Burnett (Soph) 17 goals, 16 assists
Sorry about overlooking those players. I wasn't able to see a few teams this year, Brighton being on of them. Sounds like they are both having great seasons and I'm glad you mentioned them to give them some recognition. There are a couple other teams I missed this year. Good luck in the regionals!!!

Matt Roberts at CBHS is a defender/mid to watch. Very quiet player - no trash talking, no working the refs. As fast as the situation requires and very good with either foot. His effectiveness is the simple nature in which he plays. Great vision, good decisions, no wasted effort. The only reason he did not see varsity time is he scored extremely well on his entrance exam and received some academic scholarship for his Freshman year.
Matt is a nice player and a really nice kid. I also think Eddie Argote, Will Vaughn, Zach Ballard and Ryan Aeschliman made a big impact on their teams this spring. None of them play for the local power houses, but they all played really well.

Impressive win.
Tough draw for CBHS. Farragut at 11:00 and JPII at 4:00.
Did JPII have an earlier game?
-
any news on the siegel game?
MUS tied Bearden today 1-1
Houston and siegel play at 1:00

In the colierville houston game there were 1 yellow and 1 red for coments to the refs from collierville players and the red card was after a houston foul that was called so go figure.
I heard it was really bad timing. 5 minutes to go, with the game already decided and the bad language flies out. Unfortunate for Collierville. That forward is really fast and a real weapon for them. Luckily, Collierville is playing in the best of the west tournament this weekend, so the card won't affect district games,

You need to watch Kingsbury play. I think they are better than Collierville this year. I wouldn't be surprised to see Houston and Kingsbury in state this year.
The Briarcrest- Kingsbury game was a great game. Kingsbury score in the first ten minutes and the game was up and down the field for the rest of the game. Briarcrest got a red card with 25 minutes to go in the second half and still the game went back and forth. Both teams were really giving great effort. Most entertaining game I have seen all year.
Collierville is talented, but word is some of their seniors are letting the team down (skipping school, red cards for language). I would probably go with Kingsbury right now.

I really just didn't know the rule and I know there are a lot of referees on the board and I was hoping for a little clarification. Honestly, there were a lot a fouls in the game and we never knew which way the foul was going to go for either team. The situation happened at the other end of the field, we didn't even realized what had happened until after the game, when the players told the parents.
-
Thanks, the game was 0-0 and the referee probably didn't want to decide the game with a potential PK.
-
Im a four year referee which is actually very very in experienced, but I would have to agree with the call made. Since the player that was fouled was in an offsides position when he got the ball he is basically dead after he recieves the ball. Same as if he scored...it would be called back. Same with the foul, the offsides would over rule the foul that took place afterwards. The player that comitted the foul could still be carded and etc. but the play would resume from the spot of the offsides. Fellow refs agree?
I'm sorry, I stated it wrong. The player that received the ball was onside. He shot the ball and was fouled in the act. Another player, not part of the play was called offside and his offside position nullified the PK. Does that make a difference?
-
What do you think? I'm not a ref, just a parent and was wondering about a situation from a game this season.
The ball is at the center mid's feet and he is moving towards the opponents goal. About 10 yards outside the box, he passes the all to his teammate running in from the right side. the onrushing player gathers the pass and takes two or three more strides moving towards the goal and in the penalty box. A defender hustle over and slide tackles the player as he is trying to shot. The shot went slowly forward with nothing on it and a PK is called on the foul. As the teams are moving around getting ready for the PK, the side ref tells the center ref that another player was offsides when the foul occurred. The center ref decided the offsides nullified the foul and thus the PK, giving the other team a free kick. I guess this is correct, but it sounds strange.
Any thoughts?

Oh, its fine. CBHS won 2-0. I didn't catch any of the game because i was warming up so i don't know who really controlled possesion or anything but i'd assume CBHS did. They were the most organized team we've played against.
Thanks,
Looks like CBHS sat a lot of their starters in the Science Hill game. Not a slight on SH, just a comment on CBHS's incredible depth. You can look up all the CBHS stats on their website. www.cbhs.org
They have so many club players, it is hard for the most of the teams in the Memphis area to compete. The other teams can hang for a half, but CBHS will send in subs in waves and not lose much at all. The other teams eventually wear down. It is especially hard to compete with them at their home field. It is a sweet turf field and plays right into their speed and skill game.

Cleveland's Results
Cleveland vs. Powell - Win. 3-1
Cleveland vs. CBHS - Loss. 1-3
Cleveland vs. Darlington - Win. 3-0
Cleveland vs. Greeneville - Win. 4-0
Cleveland finished 2nd under CBHS in points.
Sorry, just going with scores I heard. Any word on the CBHS v Science Hill score? I figured it might be good for CBHS.

So Christian Brothers beat Cleveland 3-0? Any idea how Notre Dame is doing?
Yes CBHS won against Cleveland 3-0. I don't know any of the other teams scores. I have a friend whose son plays for CBHS and she relayed the score. CBHS has won their games, 2-0 against Darlington and 3-0 against Cleveland. Hopefully, they will get a good game tonight against Oak Ridge.
