  1. the softball organizations put a limit on the 09' bats . 98 mph is as hot as they can be. that mean the 09' starts off at around 94 mph and the best they will get is 98 mph. the 08' bats and before start at 98 mph and may get to 104 or 105 mph after about 300 swings. i suggest buying a 08 bat, before i would buy a 09' bat

I would agree with you for sure, if you can find one. The Mizuno Frenzy is another good bat. Ball seems to have good pop off bat, have not used for full year yet!! Main thing is to get one your DD likes. Alot of hitting is in the space between the ears. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!

  2. Of course they do, I don't understand your antagonism. That was not a knock at Division II, III, NAIA or junior college. I've seen players at Lee and Chattanooga State, and their conference opponents, who could play Division I but signed lower for whatever reason. But since you brought it up surely you agree accomplishing this in the highest division is more impressive than against a smaller division team?

Maybe you didn't mean the way I read it. But it sounded that only at D1 would that be impressive, and I have seen alot of other teams in other divisions that are as good as most D1. If I took it wrong I apologize.

  3. Former Soddy-Daisy pitcher Nikki Waters had a perfect game over the weekend for nationally ranked Southern Illinois. At the Division I college level, that's very impressive.

I would think that would be impressive no matter which level. I think they allow you to do good at all levels.

  4. All of the directors I have spoken or corresponded with were nice people. I just don't agree that a seasons worth of points mean nothing more that a good pool seating. We are talking about the State Tournament and in the State you shouldn't want to play a bunch of pool games, different from a regular tournament where you want all the work you can get. Pool games in the State simply wear on your players unnecessarily for a position you earned through the course of the season. There are no written rules concerning this in the USGF and I'm not trying to crack any nuts here, I just simply don't agree. It may be something they look at down the line.

I found out long time ago points are not a good way. If your are at the top in points you play people at bottom. Most of the time the best teams my not play that many tourneys of that sanction and are just playing to pick up some games.

So you end up playing one of the better teams right off the bat instead of a weaker one. I think pool play is much better then it's luck of draw. Or be middle of pack in points. Points are just a way of getting to to play that sanction. Just my 2 cents worth, you still have to play on field.!!!!

  5. I don't know Coach Davis personally but have said hello a couple of times. I have however watched his teams many times and have seen him interact with his players and always represent his school in a first class manner. My question for softball pop is how many times have you taken a high school team to the state tournament and what is your career record? I don't like it when an obviously disappointed father takes out his frustration on a person like Coach Davis. There are other schools out there for daddy's little girl to play at and I am sure there is a coach somewhere that you would like. Trashing a very successful coach, role model and gentleman is not cool!

I do know Coach Davis, and have for a long time. Great post and Amen!!!! He is a very good man and has done a good job coaching for many years. This year's team was much better at end of season than when it started. I think it's kinda funny I even have to defend someone like him. So softballpop just take your ball and go home.

  6. I hear the plan is to pitch Beech's number two against Ravenwood to save number one. Hope thats not a mistake that costs the ability to move to state.

You know unless you have seen all of Ravenwoods games, I'm not sure you should have a opinion on their coach, if you don't even know Beech has 2 really good pitchers. Some of you people kill me. Do you not think there family or kids may read what you write. Try to think about that before you run with your opinions.

  7. I am not an expert by no means, but this sounds like a coaching issue to me. All teenage girls can be arrogant at times but I believe maybe the coach should take control and handle that problem. From what I have seen this season, Cookeville has only backslid from the start. Maybe next year will be a better year for them.

From what I hear as long as they get a new coach, or one they have changes his ways some they will be fine. Really missed starting pitcher and catcher he ran off, or let some of his players run them off. Either way he is responsible.

  8. Siegel was one or two solid players away from being a very good team, and as the season wore on, it looked liked they were short in the pitching department. You know the coach had to be angry all spring knowing she had one of the best pitchers in the state just standing in the dugout wearing street clothes and keeping the stat sheet ONLY because Ronnie Carter felt the need to flex his power to make a statement about travel ball. The girl got screwed by Carter and Siegel got screwed by Carter.

What did Carter do to the pitcher? Just wondering

  9. 1. Mt.Juliet-They may not have the best record in the Mid-State they do have one of the best pitchers in Morris and some of the best power! They have a lot of pressure on going back to the Boro but with this line-up who will stop them?

2.Goodpasture-They are the best team in AA in the Mid-State and until someone can prove them wrong they are also the best in the State! I love to watch Cartwright play the game; she plays it like it is supposed to be played!

3.Rossview-Has only given up one run in district and has one of the best pitchers in Elrod. This team does not get the exposure that others from the Mid-State gets because it is so far North but these girls can play just ask FCS and Riverdale.

4.Beech-They are still chasing the Bears from MJ can they catch them is the question? I do not see that in my crystal ball.

5.Friendship Christian-This team has been playing the bigger schools and is trying to get better! This is a sports school and has had several coaches who are excellent and has helped to make this a very great program. They are very well coached and have a lot of excitement when they play but need to add power to the game to go against the bigger schools.

6.Riverdale-This team has a bunch of injuries and they are still winning! When you lose the best pitcher in the state and are still winning in your tough district I say hats off! But getting to the state will be another story later, but they are very good for the Mid-state this week!

7.Forrest-The Ladies from the Light on the Tracks are a well coached team! They will not beat themselves and know how to play the game. I have no doubt this team will be getting in free at the State Tournament this year!

8.Blackman-I have been a doubter of this team for many reasons but they are winning and I only pick losers and they are not as of now! I think they have a chance to be in the regions and could go far until they catch the group from the East.

9.Father Ryan-Has been under the radar a lot this year and has not been playing in many local tournaments but had a great run last weekend in Choo-Choo tournament. Katy is an excellent pitcher and will take them back to the state this year and they will not have to pay to get in like a lot of teams will!

10.I hate putting a number 10 down! Several teams will be listed and I may be leaving off one or two as well but here goes.

10.Creek Wood-Had a great showing in the West and has won over 20 games but has lost several as well. Winning district again!

10.David Lipscomb-Had a good run in the Duff and is started to get some better pitching to stay in the game. I do not see this team having problems scoring but I do see this team have problems at times from giving up runs! Should win district!

10.Davidson Academy-I have no idea why this team does not win more games! Some days they look great and then other days they do not look very good. I am sure that Coach Swinea is pulling her hair out when the this happens. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />

How do you put Lipscomb in your top 10 and then pick them to lose today, seems your crystal ball is conflicted. But you were right.

  10. the guy is haven fun!!! He makes fun of everyone including himself. So lighten readers, most of us like it. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

  11. There are so many things that go into if a team can make it though substate or not. Team chemistry is without a doubt a huge factor. The whole team has to be in their prime. Big game experience for a pitcher is important but I dont know if I would call 16U anything a big enough game experience for rising seniors. Personally, I would have had those two trying for 18U ASA Gold nationals , now that is big game experience at its finest. It is always best to push the envelope as far as you can to become your best. Back to the point, Ravenswood's coach is a good one. Let the coach decide what is best for the team, never question it, in front of your daughters or the team parents. It can be a cancer that ultimately can keep the team from winning.

You have lost your perspective of the game if you think 16 ASA nationals is not a big deal, with rising seniors or not. They are now 18 am I'm sure they will make a run. Ask the girls if there is anymore pressure in ship game at asa just cause is not 18 gold.

  12. You sure do ....... /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />

    Told ya he bragged, but ain't he fun. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

  13. Why do you guys dislike this guy so much? Most the time he's right. I used to be skeptical about this guy but he's right most of the time. He doesn't need to brag about his picks though. I enjoy reading about what he has to say.

    Oh he does brag!!!! but he is fun!!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  14. Ha! Amen I second that. MrNoitAll has no life. I mean a grown man who sits on the computer and writes posts all day long..... thats just weird, and hes a teacher at that. I guess those students arent learning anything!

Be nice!! I think it's fun just to see what he comes up with next, plus we're on here writing about him which just feeds his fire. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />

  15. I am just trying to put a happy face on so many people who get up tight so easily! /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />

It's a shame you don't get paid for it, because by looking on here you do a wonderful job at it. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

  16. Neither Brentwood or Ravenwood is going to be playing in the softball state tournament this year! I am sure the travel league coaches are excited about this! /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />

If you read your other quote you mentioned Brentwood as one of the teams they must get by. Hey my dog is not in this hunt, I just enjoy your arrogance. Trying to keep your facts straight. I do know some of there people good folks that pull for there girls.

  17. I also see your point...but as far as I'm concerned, we are assembling together as a team worshipping and praying to the same God that others are worshipping and praying to..we are just on the softball field instead of our church. Since we make it a point to take time out to praise the Lord I think that is sending the message that He is important and that it is something that needs to be done no matter what we are doing or where we might be. It would be great for tournaments to take that in to account but not all will (or can) so we do the best we can without jeopardizing our kid's spiritual well-being. But, I also think that everyone should do what their convictions move them to do...the only thing is not all tournament directors are moved by the same convictions.

Less we not forget. Where one or two are gathered in my name there I will be also. We could do more good on softball field by showing our kids how to act away from church, than being in one sometimes. we also have devo's at field a they are priceless, because we let our girls be involved. Just a thought!!!!

  18. Going to the state? yes they can go but they will have to pay to get in! Do you really think that they can get by Beech, MJ, Brentwood, and maybe Rossview? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> I hope your day is better much better! /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />

Do you not know that Ravenwood has already beaten Brentwood. Brentwood is only decent at best.

He was talking about Cruiser pitcher not Rampage. Have a nice day!
