  1. If you seriously think about giving yourself a "good mark" but chicken out cuz you're afraid CoachT would bust ya for it. If you have posted in this tread more than three times. If you only know a "tread" means a message posted on a particular topic. If, if, if...man, I gotta get back to reading the messages! Need that CoachT fix!
  2. You are soooo CoachT... If you continually post messages that your record of predicting football games over the last 15 years is 167 - 19 ...actually, that is not being soooo CoachT, that is just being, ummmm, sad. If you've thought of CoachT as a god, then met the man and still think of him as a god. Although, you still wonder in the back of your mind, why would a god coach golf If you've stayed up late at night wondering if you should tell CoachT to stop smoking cuz you were worried about his health. By the way, if you still smoke - STOP! If every conversation you have with coworkers starts with, "Last night, I read on CoachT that..." If you can remember the exact place and event you first met CoachT in person (Girls State AAU Basketball Championships at Mt. Juliet High School three years ago). If you mention in a message that you've met CoachT in person just to sound important (GUILTY!). If you think about sending CoachT an invitation to your upcoming August 31 wedding in Chattanooga in hopes he will send you a free T-shirt (Almost GUILTY). If you take the time to post in a thread with a message that rants and raves how silly the tread is and how nobody cares about the thread. The fact you have posted in the tread proves somebody does care. if you type your messages with no capital letters thinking it will help disguise who you are. truth be told, probably nobody cares who you are. you just look like the kid who missed the day in first grade when the teacher taught that sentences start with a capital letter.
  3. Here is the link to Tennessee Prep Talk: http://preptalkonline.Unapproved Website/ The book has polls, schedules, reviews of teams, and other Tennessee high school football information. I've always enjoyed reading it.
  4. I doubt that "Bearette" fans really think "Lady Bears" is a bad term. For my part, I was just goofing around in my previous post. I certainly meant no harm. If you want you can call me, "WillieTheWildcatette" but I would make one ugly female wildcat
  5. Hey baconbreath, NEVER, BUT NEVER CALL THEM THE LADY BEARS. THEY ARE THE BEARETTES. Make no mistake about that. You can call Tellico the Lady Bears and you can call Mt. Juliet the Lady Bears but don't EVER call SEVIER COUNTY the Lady Bears! They are the BEARETTES!!!! Now and forever!!!!! hehehe Just having some fun but Sevier County is also the Bearettes like Bradley.
  6. simocleo mentioned three Oak Ridge head Coaches plus he also mentioned Coach Red Etter of Chattanooga. I was born in Oak Ridge and lived there all my life (except the years I spent getting my college degree at UTK). This past May, I moved to Chattanooga and now live in a house once owned by Coach Red Etter.
  7. Three Oak Ridge Head Coaches have been mentioned and here are just some of their accomplishments: Jack Armstrong 1955 - 1968 105 - 28 - 5 (77.9%) 4 State Champions 1 National Champion Emory Hale 1969 - 1980 112 - 23 (83%) 3 State Champions Ranked # 3 in Nation in 1980 Joe Gaddis 1988 - 1998 119 - 24 (83.2%) 1 State Champion Ranked # 20 in Nation in 1991 All three coaches deserve to be mentioned because they all were great coaches in their particular era of high school football. Also, all three had wonderful assistant coaches, wonderful players, and wonderful community support. The city of Oak Ridge and ORHS has been blessed to have had all three. Who was the better coach? I do not know. I do know that their legacies live on in Oak Ridge and inspire the youth of today. To those who predict gloom and doom for Oak Ridge let them tilt at the windmills of foolishness. I want to thank "simocleo" for first mentioning the three OR coaches on the board. ~~Steve Palmer [Edited by WillieTheWildcat on 7/23/02 10:25P]
  8. Here are ten rivalries, in no particular order, from East Tennessee. 1. Oak Ridge vs Clinton... First football game Oak Ridge High ever played was against the Dragons in 1943. Clinton beat the Wildcats twice that season by identical 20 - 0 scores. Series was suspended from 1950 to 1970 for public safety. Dragon Stadium is one of the best places to watch a game at because there is no track around the field which means fans are right on top of the action. 2. Clinton vs Anderson County... They really don't seem to like each other much and do enjoy knocking the snot out of each other 3. Alcoa vs Maryville... Cities located next to each other and both schools play at a high skill level. 4.Loudon vs Lenior City... I believe this rivalry is called, "Battle for the Bridge." 5. Farragut vs Bearden... Battle for West Knoxville. Students flame the fire for this rivalry year round. 6. Oliver Springs vs Kingston vs Harriman vs Rockwood... Roane County schools that like to slobberknock each other around. Although the rivalries are intense, they do seem to pull for one another against non-Roane County teams. 7. Knox. Halls vs Knox. Central... Battle for Black Oak Ridge. Proud neighboring communities in North Knoxville that seem to be evenly matched year in and year out. 8. Morristown East vs. Morristown West... Share the same city, share the same football stadium, share the same burning desire to beat on each other. 9. Kingsport DB vs Science Hill... Both schools are good at just about every sport and that creates a year round rivalry. 10. Cleveland vs Bradley Central... Good athletes + good fans = good rivalry.
  9. Really, 0 - 51? All these years, I've been telling people Jefferson County beat Oak Ridge 0 - 52. I feel a whole lot better now Oak Ridge vs Jefferson County series history (Series is tied 7 - 7). 1982 2nd Round Playoffs 0 - 7 JC 1984 2nd Round Playoffs 14 - 21 JC 1985 Reg. 10. Thank you boorelly for that post and good luck to the Roadrunners, too. Here is little trivia for you about one of AE's coaches: Kwayu Graham is # 9 on the list of Oak Ridge receivers for career receiving yards (632 yards) and # 6 for career receptions (43). Coach Graham is # 4 on the list for longest punt return with his 85 yard return against Jefferson County (by the way, it was a Jefferson County fan who predicted on this board that Oak Ridge would be like Karns and Campbell County by 2004 --- see a copy of that message at the end of this post). Coach Graham is # 2 on the Wildcats' kickoff return list for his 98 yard return against Gallatin. Here is a little story you might like: Early in Coach Stevens' first season at Austin-East, Oak Ridge had a school call on Monday afternoon and cancel out of a JV game set for that night, so Oak Ridge called Coach Stevens at the last minute and inquired if he would come over and play a JV game. Coach Stevens agreed and brought his team over. During warm-ups, Coach Steven's walked among his players as they were stretching and a person on Oak Ridge's side yelled down to him, "Coach, you're on the wrong side." Coach Stevens looked up, smiled, and replied, "No, I'm on the right side. This (pointing to his players) is home now." At the time, I thought what a wonderful declaration because the Roadrunner players had to feel good to know their coach thought of Austin-East and not Oak Ridge as home. Little gestures like that sometimes lead to big things ... like a State Championship Here is the message predicting gloom and doom for Oak Ridge from the tread titled, "Most Improved Teams for 2002" I agree with Coach Graham's opinion on this message. << 7-5-02 9:42P | 0 Good Marks | | oak ridge drying up fbwiz Member football Bad Post? this will be one team that continues to surprize people with their deteriorating football program.it will become one like cambell co's or karns by 2004. >>
  11. fbwiz wrote, "if any oak ridge players are reading this,i hope you disregard williethecat's claim that i'm belittling you and i hate you because you attend oak ridge" Okay, fbwiz, I think we can come to an agreement here if you keep your word. This means you cannot continue to post messages that says the Oak Ridge players no longer come down the hill with fire in their eyes. Nor will you be able to post that the Oak Ridge players are not team oriented. Both are statements you have made on these boards and both statements are personal attacks on the integrity, desire, and commitment of Oak Ridge players. I will add, that both of your statements are false and made with zero supporting evidence. Bash the oak Ridge fans and coaches but lay off the kids is all that is being asked.
  12. Hey Catpack You apparently have an admirer in fbwiz based on his titling a previous message, "Catpack is right." This should give you cause for pause (or should I saw "paws" hehehehe). I understand where you and Catwatch are coming from and I respect what you are trying to accomplish in Oak Ridge. However, when a person (fbwiz) who has repeatedly bashed Oak Ridge players on these boards starts using your messages as a jump off point for more Oak Ridge player bashing, I think a serious problem is developing. You and I know very well that for the most part Oak Ridge Football is respected across this state. We also know Oak Ridge Football has some haters as well. We should not allow the Oak Ridge haters to use our passionate views for Oak Ridge Football against us. How can we do this? I do not know the complete answer but I think a start would be to make it clear that negative messages about the players on the team is totally unacceptable. The Oak Ridge fans and coaches are fair game but the kids are not to be subject for ridicule. Once again, I support your strong feelings toward Oak Ridge football and wish you all the best. Best of luck to the Wildcats and I'll try to get to some OR games but having recently moved to Red Bank will limit the number. Oh, I would also like to take the time to thank the Gallatin fan for the comments he has made about Oak Ridge football from time to time on these boards. Friendly rivalries make for fun times. ~~Take care and go Red Bank Steve Palmer
  13. Fbwiz wrote: ""i really miss them coming down from the hill with fire in their eyes.for know, that's gone" Another laugh out loud at this statement. When did you look into the eyes of the Oak Ridge players as they came down the hill? You are such an expert on Oak Ridge players that you know when there is fire and not fire? LOL Again it is unseemly for an adult to fixate negatively on high school players. Somewhere in the past an Oak Ridger probably hurt you in some fashion. Take it out on the adults in Oak Ridge and not the Wildcat players.
  14. FBWIZ, you are wrong concerning your repeated claim that Oak Ridge players lack talent based on an absence of players on an apparent list in, "football time in tenn". You have made this bash on Oak Ridge kids at least three times before. What you want everybody on this board to believe is if any high school has no players on this list then they lack talent. I doubt very seriously even the publishers of Football Time in Tennessee would agree with you on this one. I also doubt any fan of any school not represented on the list would agree with you. But you are entitled to your arrogant opinion. As to you claim that if something is not done by the administration that Oak Ridge will become like Karns and Campbell County, that is another foolish prediction. In another message you even said Oak Ridge would become like Karns and Campbell County by the year 2004. People on these boards laugh at you when you make prediction such as this. By the way, I doubt Karns and Campbell County fans appreciate how you throw their names around on these boards. I know I think it is in poor taste. By the way, why do you have to bash the players? It is unseemly for an adult to bash high school age players.
