  1. Great insite to this feud. Hopefully Cascade and SP will continue the regular season games. This Old Pirate has respect for them champs and they bring a team that is disciplined & will play hard.

Don't look for that series to continue with the next two-year contracts with the TSSAA changing its rules to the top priority to making the playoffs now being overall wins. Cascade's non-district opponents "on paper" for 2011-12 are: Jo Byrns, Mt. Pleasant, Cannon County and Wayne County.

  2. The sport section is even better. You guys can only see the article in today's paper off the web-site.

Hey guys, I never get on the boards anymore. This is about the only thread that really interested me each season because I really do enjoy this rivalry as much as anyone.

A buddy of mine told me that my name came up on here and should check it out. Just wanted to say thanks for all the kind words, sincerely. You all are too kind.

I'm looking forward to some quality football on Friday night. See you guys there. JB fans, Lord willing, I'll be the fella on the sidelines with what Cascade fans call my "telescope." Ya'll be good and be careful.

  3. Hey hey hey there Spiderman. Go easy on us ole folks! Just remember, while you're trying to chart plays and take pictures at the same time, we'll be drinking hot chocolate, yelling, screaming, and leaning up against a fence. BTW, did you do another story for today?

I may be dodging players and having to chart/shoot at the same time but at least I get paid to see a game from the sideline. Can't go wrong there brother.

Yeah, coach and I had a good enough conversation the other night to where I could do another article on the biggest game in our county this century. Here's the link:

  4.

You mean this one?? I didn't want that kid to have nightmares tonight.....LOL

Hey, I've seen that picture somewhere before, HA!

It'd been 19 minutes since anyone had posted on here. You folks are a bunch of slackers. It's game day. Get with it already. It's obvious none of you actually work for a living...J/K!

  5. Devils Are Fired Up and Ready to Kick Some Chump Tail Friday. ? They used all their luck up last time we played so look for the Devils to advance to the Semi's again this year! ? Were comin for ya Butchie, Cascade is just a small speed bump in our way!

Well, heck, sounds like the "Chumps" need to just keep it at the house. Might as well. It's going to be pretty cold anyways. Is there anything you wanna go ahead and post on here in request prior to your trip to the semis? I'm sure the "Chumps" have a industrial sized washer and dryer to clean the mud off your white jerseys and pants after the game Friday. We don't want any stains setting in before McKenzie or Lake County come up to the dungeon. It might be a good idea to go ahead and get some film on some Region 7 games while you're at it. No need in preparing for the "Chumps." Nobody stands in the way of Jo Byrns! They've outscored opponents 74-27 thus far in the playoffs. I'm guessing we can expect at least 75 against the lowly "Chump" defense.

  6. Congrats to Cascade on a great win! Played very well and get better every game. On a side note, I just wanna tip my hat to Ethan Tummins for gutting it out and hanging in there despite playing with a bad wing. Even the Cascade fans were begging for him to leave the field after the game got out of hand before he got seriously hurt. That kid is all heart. He's the William Wallace of Region 5.

  7. High school sports period does not get enough media coverage. Down here we get more coverage from Alabama.Geez /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />

I would have to guess that the folks from Cascade would differ. They have their own beat writer and photographer, basically. They're actually terribly spoiled compared to most. I hate that for you and your kids, but that's just the way it is. It'll be gone from Cascade before long as newspapers are being fazed out more and more. Folks don't even want to spend $90 on a year's subscription cause they can read most of it online.

Well, anyways, good luck to Jo Byrns. Represent Region 5 like we know you can. I wish I could be there because it's sure to be a barn burner. Everybody be safe in their journies. Enjoy the pic from The Dungeon...

  8. Well, I haven't really posted since I was a student at Morristown West (Graduated in 2007). Now I have some friends who play at Knox West, so I thought I'd come back and post some more.

To RebelRon and all of the other Maryville regulars: It's good to see posts from you guys again. With so many ranters on here, it's good to see some people that post with class and intelligence. I still remember that all of you were very nice and respectable whenever there was a MoWest/Maryville game while I was in high school.

About the game: Maryville was only winning 9-7 after 3 Quarters last time these two teams met. I'm not really sure what happened in the 4th Quarter. I'm sure both teams will be ready come Friday, and both teams have a lot of heart. I would absolutely love to see my West High Rebels walk out of Murvil with a win.

    West- 21

    Maryville -17

    GO REBELS!

If you played against Maryville in 2007, you might remember this guy (I shot it before the UCLA game)...

  9. Their not going to show our region any love a couple of years ago Daniel Puckett was one of the most dominate

Basketball players in 1a and he didn't get it

The Blake kid at Grace Academy had some serious numbers. I hadn't heard a peep about the boys from out west before the finalists were released. Folks out there seemed to be pretty surprised that the Manassas kid made it. Carkuff has some great numbers despite being in charge of a run-oriented offense. It's hard to argue with 23 TDs and only 5 INTs with an 11-0 record.

  10. At halftime, Cascade had 20 total yards, Jo Byrns had 116 to kind of show you how great the defense was on both sides. The fourth quarter was everything. Over the course of three drives, No. 34 ran off the left side exactly 15 times in a row. He got stuffed on the two-point conversion though and that made all the difference in the world. I wouldn't just be shocked if these two locked horns at The Stable again on Nov. 21.

  11. Just in case he doesn't get back on here...

    * Exit 19 is the "Maxey Rd." exit

    * Don't take a right at the 4-way, go straight trough the 4-way then take a right when the road T-bones. The distance from Exit 19 to the 4-way is around 3-4 miles and the distance from the 4-way to Kinneys Rd. is about 7 miles.

    * Richards road is about 2 miles long and you have to cross the RR tracks once

If you have a way to contact cascade11, have him give you my number just in case you get lost.

Thanks for the navagational help boys and girls. You kids are awesome! Got there no problem. Too bad our driver took us through Kentucky on the way home while I was looking down and downloading my pictures. HAHA!! Seriously.

  12. boxman u can go 24 to exit 19 go right thru 4 way stop till u tbone into kinneys rd take a right on to kinneys rd to richards rd .take a left onto richards rd. and follow it to 41 take a right onto 41 and go 600 yards and the school is on the left . no playing round here that is in my opinion the fastest route .

I think I'll take the same route boxman is as well. Since we share the sidelines together perhaps we can get lost together, haha!

Seriously though, I've got a couple questions. I need to be straight because I can't even miss the first play although I am leaving at 3:30. But, I'm driving a couple families. The principal down here asked we car pool with the JB parking problems.

~What city or road is Exit 19?

~When you get off of Exit 19, do you come directly to the 4-way stop you're talking about?

~How long after you turn right at the 4-way before the road T-bones and you turn right onto Kinneys Road?

~I see where Richards is the second left off of Kinneys, how far down is Richards after you get onto Kinneys?

~How long are you on Richards before you turn right onto Hwy. 41 and do you turn right at a stop sign?

Sorry for the hassle. I just want to be sure. A lot of people are counting on me.

  13. I happen to know for a FACT that no tax dollars went into building that indoor facility. Parents, Coaches and Players worked extremely hard for YEARS in order to build that facility. So, you have no clue what you are talking about, that much is obvious. Also, as the other post said, teams often lend their facilites to other teams upon request. I know in college sometimes when our field was too wet to take pregame BP we let the opposing team hit in our facility, but i guess that's because we wanted them to beat us right? It was just BATTING PRACTICE, no magic secrets were revealed or pro tips given, they just hit some balls, you know like college and pro teams do before every game.

Also, as far as Shelbyville being jealous of Cascade, what a joke! Cascade has had a lot of success over the past couple of seasons and kudos to players, they played well and earned it. But Cascade is the one with a huge inferiority complex in regard to Shelbyville, the fact that this discussion is taking place is evident. Its the reason that cascade fans (not all but some) throw Shelbyville into discussions that have nothing to do with Shelbyville at all. And maybe if Cascade's coach could control his mouth and a certain sports writer could control his bias, both schools would be on much better terms to begin with and these shots and discussions would not occur.

Who exactly is the sports writer biased against and what has this person done to offend Shelbyville baseball fans?

  14. Look I have no doubt that MJ coach is a good coach in fact coach Floyd told me during the day yesterday that he had a lot of respect for her BUTshe did leave the trophy and it was not on accident...

But I don't even care about that... DON'T COME ON HERE AND TRY AND TARNISH WHAT THE LADY RAIDERS DID LAST NIGHT IF YOU DIDN'T LIKE THE CALL FINE BUT THE LADY RAIDERS PLAYED A GREAT GAME AS DID MJ.

All I know is that you don't win a TOURNAMENT because a close call at the plate went your way. And, why does everybody have to hate on a coach over a trophy? Do we really know why she left it? Maybe she had to pull it out in order to get bats, helmets and catchers' equipment in and forgot to put it back in the vehicle.

  15. On Fri night, Huntland beat Cascade 7-5.

Huntland has struggled all yr and have very few wins.

In the Huntland loss Cascade had a kid dead to rights at home on a force out and threw it off the backstop. They also committed five errors and had two kids thrown out at home while trying to score on wild pitches. Baserunning mistakes and defensive mistakes are amplified in the postseason. They've got less than a week to figure it out.

  16. Parham needs to stay healthy and with some hard work, he could be a good one next yr

If Parham hits the weights, he could certainly help Shelbyville in their non-district games as a starter. I would think he would fall into the rotation behind Cooper, Brothers, Thompson and Jarrell. All those kids just need to keep throwing and play plenty of ball this summer and more this fall if at all possible. Who is Turner going to sign with? He is very underrated and plays the game like it should be played.

There are some pictures of Thompson pitching and Turner hitting on this site:

  17. Hey if anyone should know about not standing a chance in the Boro it would be Cascade. If my memory serves me correctly they left the Boro in 07 quicker than a scud missle leaving Baghdad.

Cascade beat a pair of Division I signees and all-state pitchers -- Ivey (Summertown) and Clinard (East Robertson) -- just to get to the 'Boro last year. In the process, they lost their No. 1 starter. Taking the best pitcher off any Single-A team the day before the state and see how they do. Some people just loooove to hate.
