  1. read the board and you willunderstand why we have a chip on our shoulders!!!!!!!! GO LADY DEVILS!!!!!!!! CONGRADULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

I do understand why you have a chip on your shoulder, but that is no excuse for these juvenile comments that some people are making on these boards.Fact is Goodpasture was the team to go through to get a championship. Unicoi did it, quite handily too. They have an awesome team, and deserved to win, but some people need to act like the adults that I believe them to be, and lighten up on the childish comments.

  2. Unicoi County 2, Westview 0 (8 innings)

Great game! Definitely a defensive battle, with Woods (UC) throwing 8 strikeouts and Shaylon Robb (WHS) throwing 6. Through seven innings, there were only 8 hits (5 for UC, 3 for WHS) and 10 baserunners (6 for UC, 4 for WHS).

Five UC hits and a Westview error knocked in two runs in the top of the 8th, and Westview was unable to answer.

Best of luck to Unicoi County and Lexington tomorrow afternoon. Westview plays Chattanooga Christian in an elimination game in the morning at 10:00. The game will again be on the radio in Martin.

Congratulations Westview Lady Chargers on an AWESOME season. Hold your heads high, and think of the teams who wished for the opportunity to be able to play a couple of games at the state level. Three years in a row, not a bad track record. Looking forward to next year.

  3. Heard today that the Westview/Unicoi County game will be broadcast tomorrow afternoon on WCMT 101.3 FM in Martin. Thought those of you here in the area might want to keep up with the Lady Chargers as they make their third straight trip to the state tournament.

Will be on the air I believe at 4:40, game time is 5:00. Thanks for all the support out there. Great for the girls to know everyone is behind them.

  4. Teams that have a chance......

    AAA

Beech- Probably the best pitcher in AAA

Soddy Daisy- They are Soddy so they always have a shot.

siegel- They could surprise some people.

Long shot- Either team from Morristown

    AA

Goodpasture- Their chance has to do with the best player in the state being their shortstop

And if Goodpasture decides to play with only 8 players these teams have a shot....

Unicoi- Really good pitching and solid hitters

Gibbs- Thirty runs since the region tournament started. They can hit 1-9.

Winner of Dekalb Co. and Chatt. Christian- Probably the best sectional game in the state today.

    A

Trinity- Even if they play with 8.

I guess that the other 7 teams might as well just stay home this year, since it has been determined who is going to win before the first game has even been played.Goodpasture is an awesome team, no doubt about it, but ANY team can be beat on ANY given day. Games do have to be played, and NO TEAM is unbeatable. Remember that.

  5. Westview has a team full of them

Jenna Hazelwood - Best 2B in West Tennessee, no one can ever compare to her defense, hits from both sides of the plate

Shanna Chappell - Without the speed of a Brooke Thomas or Ivy Renfroe and still consistent over the last 3 years

Shaylon Robb - Sub .5 ERA and hits over .330 with some pop in the bat

Kelly Gaston - OF - Bunts better than anyone else I know of and continues to beat people with it and has been consistent at the top of Westview's lineup

Sam Giesler - Great overall player and could play almost any position and when it's a big game she takes care of business defensively and offensively

Ashley Bynum - 1B - over .400BA and performs day in and day out

Time to start giving this group more credit. Potentially 3 years in a row at the state, there has to be something to it. All of these other kids are worthy of the praise but it's time to start mentioning these kids as well. Someone prove otherwise.

Lets not forget center fielder Grace Ann Swaim, she gets more recognition for basketball. She has hit a few out this year, and she is solid in her defense out there. She is a first year player, and catcher McKenzie Norris, she can throw just about anyone out when they run on her, heck of an arm, and in clutch situations her bat has been good this year also. Defensively I'd put them on the field with anybody. If their bats all get going at the same time they wreck havoc on other teams. Top to bottom this is a solid team, not just two or three doing it all, everyone contributes and that is why this team is so good. Good Luck next week in Murfreesboro.

  6. you know it is a sad day when adults get on this post and ruin it for all the softball girls, coaches.parents and fan of each of the teams represented in the state of tennessee that have all worked hard all season long just to get to district, region, substate and state play offs. we all should be supporting our teams instead of trash talking everyone. it is an honor to get just get to the state playoffs, don't ruin it for the ones that make it. go to the games and watch and support your team, but always remember there is 1 winner and 1 loser in every game, that's why we play, remember that every

young lady out there is someone's daughter, sister, granddaughter, etc. be proud of your team and cheer them on to a victory. just because the other fans or just people at the games who don't even have anyone there are acting stupid that doesn't mean you have to act like them. remember there are always younger girls always looking and watching what you are doing. we should be setting good examples so that they don't act like the people that you are all talking about. remember FORREST ALUMNI - CLASS -PRIDE AND TRADITION. GOOD LUCK TO ALL TEAMS AND GO LADY ROCKETS YOUR FANS AND FAMILY ARE BEHIND YOU!!!

    Well said. Awesome post.

  7. They ain't got a chance! I'm sure you do think they are good. beating on those other weak west tn teams all the time. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

Yea tca "ocasionally" plays in Middle TN. (huntington never comes up here) but it won't be enough to overcome what is coming at them Next Week You folks just wait & see! /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />

Yea yea lets just wait and see if ya'll can catch up to what will be coming at you next week. Im sure you realize you will be facing a pitcher who is signed to UT Knoxville, that is, if you get that far into the tournament.

  8. If anybody is assuming anything, it's you. We have a great deal of respect for any team who makes it to the 'boro, whether it be from east, middle, or west. We're just saying that there are two very talented teams from Marshall county in class A this year, as last year. How many counties have more than one school representing them that are as small as Marshall County (3 high schools)? Not very many. Good luck to all!! District, region, sub-state-STATE!!

Im sure you do have talented teams coming from Marshall County and its great that you have made it this far, but you have Trinity and Huntingdon most likely headed your way, and I am not so sure West Tenn will be going back with a big ole cup of disappointment, any team that faces these pitchers better be on their A game, and for the record I dont have a dog in this race, but I do know how good these teams are. Good Luck

  9. The Rockets will fly all the way to the championship, again! It will be an ALL Marshall Co. Finals.

It doesn't matter what all the expert's and noitall's say on this website because that is the way its going to be. Those teams from WTn are just going to be coming to the boro for a cup of disapointment just like last year!!!!!!!!

Thats a mighty big assumption about the teams in West Tenn. You obviously dont know anything about the talent we have over here. Better be careful it is usually the teams who you underestimate who will jump up and bite you in the behind.

  10. Sounds like your making an excuse,DCHS played a great game and you an no one else can take that away from those girls! you just better be hoping Crockett looses the two games they have left or they might just be the 1st place team this year.

Am I wrong or is this not just to seed the teams for tournament play. No one has first place yet, and no one is making excuses. DCHS beat a very good Westview team for sure, but for the record they are also a banged up Westview team. Catcher was playing with a black swollen eye, and 2nd base was playing with two sprained wrists that we thought may have been broken, and she has not even been able to hit in the game, so yea, they did catch us on a bad day. Dont worry we will be ready to go come tourney time.

  11. Who ended up winning it?

Sorry I should have put that. It was Butler County. It was around 1 AM this morning when the girls walked off the field. Wish you guys could have had a better day.

  12. Gibson Co. lost all 4 games this weekend in a tournament up in Benton Ky @ Marshall Co. High School. The umpiring was aboslutely ridiculous. When the opposing teams coaches that you are playing come up and tell your coaches that those were some of the worst calls they've ever seen made goes to show just how bad it really was. There were several balls that we beat out at first where we were called out. There was another instance where the ball barely got past the catcher, our girl goes to steal third, she slides in and is unable to reach the bag due to the third basemen completely blocking the bag. The girl even dropped the ball at third and then tagged our runner, the ump asked the 3rd basemen if she had the ball in her glove, of course she held the ball up in the air showing she finally had the ball after it had been dropped and while she still had her whole leg across the bag and was called out on the play. I hate to sound like a whiny baby and I normally don't complain about it on here, but it was absolutely RIDICULOUS! I'm taking nothing away from the teams that beat us though, they were very good teams! Does anyone know how Westview did in this same tournament?

Westview had a great tournament. They took 2nd place.

  13. From what can be told on the score board Westview might not even win their own district! I also see where they have not won a Tournament that they have played in this year. Things don't look to good for making to the "boro" & if they did manage to it will be a short stay. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

    Don't get your hopes up to high! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Westview only has a handful of losses, including tournament play. They have only played in 2 tournaments, and they placed 2nd this passed weekend.Dont count the girls from Martin out just yet, they tend to play their best ball down the stretch, and as for things not looking good on making it to the boro, that remains to be seen.

  14. In my own opinion, wins and losses are just numbers because come tournament time it doesn't mean a thing. Look at the State Basketball games you had a team that never lost a game get beaten by a team thats record was no where near perfect. When it comes to tournament it is just going to be who is the better team and who plays their best game.

I totally get where you are coming from, but with respect to your opinion i dont think wins and losses are just numbers. When you beat a well known good team, you cannot tell me that those wins do not drastically increase a teams confidence. Wins are wins no matter if it is tourney play or not, the same as losses. I dont think there is a player out there that would say certain wins dont matter. They all matter to the kids who are playing. the losses hurt as much as the wins make them happy. The more a team plays together the more they improve, and the better they play as a team. I do agree with you though, any team can be beat on any given day, and it all comes down to winning when the situation is win or the season is over, but I stick to what I said , the more a team plays, the better they are going to be, and to keep getting better as a team you have to play a lot of ball, and I do think that can only get you better prepared for tournament time.

  15. funny how your counting non district games, heck they dont matter its what you do in your district that counts!

Dyer County played Gibson Co yesterday an won 6-0. We play @Obion today.

Whats wrong with counting non district games. Westview has played and beaten some very tough non district teams. We beat a very good Camden team last week, you think a win over Camden doesnt matter, lets see Dyer County beat Camden , and then we will see if you still think that way. Playing tough teams non district or not can only make you better in the long run, so heck yea, I think it matters, and I also think alot of people would agree. It can only get you better prepared for tough games down the road, in the district

  16. i have been reading the post on what player is the best at what postion and what team they play for and it has occured to me that no one person came make or break a TEAM. it take' nine players to field a team to play the game of softball. in any givn game a player can have a bad game but if she plays as a team player and her team

plays team softball they will pick each other up at the appropriate time. a great pithcer also needs a great catcher and a great in field and a great outfield and then you got to have great bats, that's what make a TEAM. so to all the girls that has not been named to the outstanding post on coacht by the offical know it alls. YOU ARE IMPORTANT ALSO BECAUSE THEY CAN'T BE GREAT WITHOUT ALL OF THE TEAM ON THE FIELD. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />

AWESOME POST!!!! You win as a team, and you lose as a team.

  17. Big win by the 'View I thinki it is the first time district 13 has won the region championship. GREAT JOB> Covington is a tuff team to beat and if you can walk away with a win it is a great job. Wow it must be tuff for T. Joy (Covington) to pitch a no hitter and still lose the ballgame. Westview just got the breaks they need. I think Covington only had two hits and both where from T. Joy. Great pitching battle!!!!

Westview will represent this district and region well. If the bats come alive they could make some noise in the Sectionals (Which they are picked to win) and state Tourney. This is a real good team and just goes to prove how good the district 13aa (Wild Wild West) is.

Convington fans no need to be down they will go deep in the state tourney they will beat the Memphis team they play.

Just hope both teams take care of substate and not let anything crazy happen! Would be great if the teams from District 13aa come out to the softball field and support Westview in the game against Carver.....Hey Chipsmom can you give us a time and date on the sectional game held in Martin?

Once again Congrat's to the Westview and Covington. Go and represtent the Wild Wild West! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

The game will be played Friday in Martin. Not sure on the time yet . Coach is shooting for 3:00 because of graduation ceremonies. I will post a definate time tonight. And once again, thanks for the support everyone. GO WESTVIEW

  18. I saw this game and Martin played extremly well. They made the plays, Shaylon Robb kept the Covington batters off balance all afternoon, and one mistake by Covington cost them the game.

I just remember on another thread earlier in the post season, that some of the district 14 posters said that district 13 was waisting our time because district 14 was much stronger than district 13. Well, the competition that was played within our district made all our teams better. Looking at the Milan/Covington score from Monday 1-0, and Martin's 3-0 score over Haywood only showes that the best in 14 had their hands full with our much less talanted 13 AA teams.

What I am saying is district 13 has held our own against district 14, as a matter of fact I think we are a little ahead of them. Good luck to Martin and Covington on Friday and then after you win, go to the boro and and bring the gold ball back to west Tennessee.

It was a great game. There is no doubt that district 14 has very tough teams, but after this week all I can say is that district 13 has proven that they can play with them. Maybe now this district will finally get the credit it deserves. We have awesome talent. Thanks to all the out of town support we are getting. I saw faces from Obion, Gibson, and Milan. It means alot to these girls knowing that everyone is behind them. One more win, and we're on our way to the boro. GO WESTVIEW

  19. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> Congrats to Westview on their win in the regional tourney. Could someone please tell me what time the game is Wednesday and what the price is to get in? Might as well pull for our district team. As the old saying goes if you can't beat them, join them. BEST OF LUCK LADY CHARGERS!!!

Thanks for the support pioneerpride. The game is at 6pm at our complex, and the cost is 5.00. Bring along more fans to help cheer us on. GO WESTVIEW
